JPSCloud - come and join us on the OS weight loss thread. We are all about healthy lifestyle and doing it the OS way. We are also very friendly and very supportive x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

JPS Im also on a healthy diet plan with oh. My weight gain has been part medication and diet . We are following the sw diet but have decided not
    to join a group.
To anyone like me with a sweet tooth, weight watcher pudding yogurts are fantastic. Try Marks low fat yogurts too.

Thanks Molly and snookey - Mollly I will go and rejoin the OS weight loss thread, thanks... I had joined a while back but of course fell off the wagon. I will see if I can stay on the wagon at least a bit longer this time!

snookey, those yoghurts are yummy and often on offer as well. I'm avoiding buying things in specially though at the moment... I want to try to make myself use my usual food in more sensible ways - portion control and vegetable/protein/carb balance being the ones I have been getting horribly wrong lately.

I'm going for my annual blood test in a few weeks as well, and I'd like to have a better picture from the practise nurse this time!

  • Hi Messies - I just typed a long post and it`s disappeared GRRRR!
I `ll try to remember but briefer this time in case it happens again!
Faith - I totally agree with Sonastin`s advice. Tackle the boss, person to person. Also, are you quite sure that your TL isn`t making more of all this than the boss required? Cut out the middle-man and find out!
Bearcub - hope your day out goes well. Your tact & fair-mindedness will surely help.
We watched the `Hungry Sailors` on the IOW on i-player the other night and I thought of you!
Wilf- hope your DS`s birthday went well.
FW - you must be glad to get the silage thing done - hope the weather holds for the duration, it`s hot & dry here.
Laurel - well done on the gravelling, glad you enjoyed the canoeing, you deserved a treat!
JPS - good luck with your healthy intentions. I know what you mean about portion control - I always make too much and then don`t lie to waste it...OH sometimes asks `when are the other 20 you`ve cooked for having theirs?` I don`t often do puds/cake etc., only when DS`s GF comes to stay, we get through LOADS of fresh fruit & veg (farmshop addict) but I do like my carbs too...I sometimes feel `fat` but others say I`m not - it`s mostly round my middle, and how bad it looks depends on what I wear. I don`t `exercise`, I feel I get enough of that at work, and there isn`t the time (excuses??) Saying all that, I`m not putting anything on - but I do miss having a waist...
I went to get my neck stretched & prodded again today (Physio) and it feels a lot better again now though it did hurt at the time. Those guys really are brilliant!
Out with OH & friends this evening, no de-messying to report today, just the very basics, it`s too hot! (that`s my new tweed jacket working already!)
Have a nice evening Messies, whatever you`re doing.xx
ps - Cat, where are you? Hope all`s wellxx

Glad your neck feels better Emm! I carry my weight (which is quite a lot now!) around my waist and always have. Even when I was a fit and healthy size 10 I had a buddha belly. Now I'm more like Jabba the Hut, but let's not go there!!

I didn't get around to gardening but will have a go tomorrow I think. I have stuck to my eating plan, even resisting the lovely smells floating out of bakers/fast food places while out shopping!

Just considering a walk up the canal towpath, not far but just to get out and enjoy the lovely afternoon.

Messy status... well, bedroom lovely and clean and tidy, and I can definitely see floor in the boxroom!

Lovely Oldstylers... I'm living in squalor.

My kitchen is a genuine, no-holds-barred tip at the moment and I feel like giving up. Both base corner cupboards have developed mould, so can only store tins in them (packet goods get mouldy, plates get spore growth.) The hot water tap gave up a couple of months ago. Now my dishwasher has started leaking and I can't use it either! I have to fill the kettle if I want to wash any dishes. Our plumber has been putting off coming for about four weeks and now has stopped returning calls. I don't have a single clean surface in the kitchen that I can so much as lay a plate on so we're living on freezer meals and micro packs of rice (bleh). It's making me want to tear out my hair!

I work 9 hour days 5 days a week (10 if you include walking time) and my partner works 12 hour shifts daily. We are both exhausted and fed up. How on earth do I pull my home back from the disaster it's become??_pale_

Take a deep breath and think about what you have to get done first.

It sounds as if you need a different plumber so grab a copy of your local newspaper and look through the ads at the back or ask someone at work for a recommendation.

Then both you and hubby tackle the kitchen together. If you put in an hour of hard work most of the dishes will be clear.

Don't try to fight it all at once - you'll be overwhelmed and you'll give up. Set small, manageable targets and achieve them. Start off by finding another plumber - no point in chasing after a guy who doesn't want the work. Clear enough surface to put plates on - don't stress about the rest of the mess. After each meal, boil the kettle and wash the pots used for that meal plus at least one other thing. That way, you'll always have something clean to eat off and you'll slowly start to clear a way through the rest of it. Don't worry about the other stuff taking over your life because once you've started making small inroads it can't take over.

Come over and join us on the messies thread - we're a friendly bunch and know how hard it can be to get going once the mess has taken hold. We encourage but don't judge. The mantra over there is "babysteps" - just because you can't face running, don't let it put you off trying to walk!

Break out the paper plates to give yourselves an Olympic-themed break while looking for a new reliable plumber - there should be plenty reduced in the shops as the Union Jack phase (sadly) comes to an end

Could either of you get a main meal at work?

    I heartily agree with this!
