How about - considering that you can get a replacement dinner set for a tenner - taking one Saturday afternoon and binning the lot?
Bin EVERYTHING except for the large appliances.
Once it's all gone, use paper plates for a short period.
And scrub, bleach and scrape every surface with incredibly hot water.
And then you can gradually put the things you genuinely need back in there.
Aldi have a dinner set(Plain)this Sunday for £9.99, some non stick pans, A set of two saucepans, a wok, some chopping boards, even a two hob cooker...have a look at their website...I'm going to get some goods this weekend whilst I can. Our Aldi hasn't been built yet so I lose out by paying for a taxi but...

Take a deep breath and think about what you have to get done first.
It sounds as if you need a different plumber so grab a copy of your local newspaper and look through the ads at the back or ask someone at work for a recommendation.
Then both you and hubby tackle the kitchen together. If you put in an hour of hard work most of the dishes will be clear.

Maybe this isn't actually about you? Does anyone really go around checking how much thanks their posts get? It never occured to me...
OP - defintiely get a new plumber or try fixing it yourself, as long as you turn off the mains water AND the feed for the hot you can safely remove taps and replace them, with flexi hoses replacing copper pipes it's a lot easier than it used to be.
Does the hot water in your bathroom work or is it just the kitchen? If so, fill the bath with hot water and do all the dishes in there.June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

Morning all, thanks soworried, so far so good! I feel ready to tackle the garden today and although I've had toast for breakfast (really wanted to have cereals, better for energy release) I am on track for another controlled day.
I seem to have mislaid my garden secateurs - that's a bit of a blow as I don't really want to have to go out and get another pair but I will have to if they don't turn up.
Ok, off to start my day... have a great day messies, I'll be back in here on and off when I have breaks!
:cool::cool::cool:
Edit: found my secateurs! :T
PS well done to you RainyDays!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Yesterday...I didn't get up until 3pm, and only then to drive my daughter somewhere, and went straight back to bed.
I shouldn't be this tired. On the plus side, I came back from holiday to find a letter from my consultant, letting me know the blood tests were very positive, so it isn't that I'm getting ill again.
I strongly suspect that the issue is my weight. I've rarely been slim, but I've really piled it on since I've been on steroids (the muscle-dissolving kind, alas), and I'm now both morbidly obese and least physically strong I've ever been. And terrified to do my usual crash diet thingy because I was on it when my liver failed-and I just don't know any other way of losing weight I can stick to.
So...today's target is to deal with some of the stuff that got dumped in the study when I was doing the old toy room. The old toy room is still immaculate and new-carpet smelling and I actually feel a bit uncomfortable with its perfection, which makes no sense...
I think the problem is that I can rouse myself to do the big things, but the little things eat away at my soul. I was looking at the horrible tiles in the kitchen this morning and I could easily work up the motivation to start smashing them off the wall. It's just the sheer, monotonous, endless, hellish grind of the daily drudgery that gets me down.import this0 -
Hugs laurel, I was slim and fit up to my 30s due to a very active lifestyle. In my 30s I stopped smoking and at the end of my 30s I stopped exercise of any kind, and that's when I started gaining. I've done the yo-yo thing quite unintentionally, my yo-yo swings go over several years. But each time I put more weight on.
This year (maybe it's age too) I have found myself so restricted in what I can do, and I am sure it's my weight - I also take blood pressure medication so it could be that but I have decided to try to lose some of the weight and see how that goes.
I am sure that you are like me laurel, you know exactly what to do to lose weight. With me, I feel defeated before I start because of past yo-yo-ing.
Well, I have decided that one pound off is better than one pound on, and I am not giving up things that are traditionally off limits when losing weight... but I'm doing portion control. That's the biggie for me, sometimes I kind of panic and feel I'm going to starve (I know, it's crazy for someone of my size to say that) and then I eat until my stomach hurts.
I will have to consciously exert control over my eating every moment of every day and that in itself is something I find very difficult to do. I am going to see if controlling portions results in more energy - I suspect for me that it will.
It's getting very hot outside now, and my messy garden is in that "more messy than when I started" phase... sigh. I am taking lots of breaks as I want to be able to carry on as long as possible.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Morning Messies!
Well done, Rainy Days, KraftyKat , SoWorried, & FW!
FW- what a fantastic bargain on the Le Creusot!
Laurel, I`m glad your blood tests were ok, but the tiredness thing could be that you do great bursts of big heavy jobs then just need to rest till the next? I sometimes feel like that after a couple of long-day shifts. The daily drudgery bit - or at least the bits I resent - wouldn`t be so bad if it wasn`t just left to me, and if I got into some sort of routine with it!
I did a VERY stupid thing last night...
Slipped off the edge of the decking whilst watering the runner bean tubs...into a load of nettles!!! Could have been a lot worse, it`s really only my left arm that got nettled.
I`m cross about it because the weather is beautiful again today, but I think I`d better keep my arms covered if I go pottering outside!
Have a good day all xx0
