My home is a mess

Morning, I haven't caught up on the thread yet. I have put my back out somehow and it is agony so very little de-messying if any will be done. The kids are great and will help out with the basics when they peel themselves off the bed lol.
I have been up for over 2 hours already because of my back so I have put some chicken carcasses and veg in to the slow cooker to make a chicken noodle soup for lunches. Smells lovely already.
I hope everyone has a great day, I'll catch up on the thread now. x£36/£240

Morning messies! Sorry to hear about your back soworried, please rest and get better.
I'm not sure if I missed birthdays but if so, please accept belated happy birthday wishes!
I have worken up feeling very fuzzy today and feel as though I'm made of lead. I doubt I will get much done but you never know... I'll try to keep doing the washing anyway, at least that will be a start.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Happy Birthday to all those who have had or about to have :T
Soworried so sorry to hear about your back. Hope it gets better soon. Have you tried putting something warm under it like a hot water bottle or a towel to heat the muscles up?
Well I STILL have not got started on my bedroomHowever after working 8:30-5 7-10:30pm on Friday then 1-8 on Sat and 1-9 last night I'm shattered. Doesn't help staying up till 1:30am to get a chance to speak to OH. Anyway I've roped in some help and aim to do some tonight. I'm thinking 2 hands are better than 1 lol
MillyMolly I know how you feel I have OH & a housemate both blokes and they are useless at cleaning but deserve gold medals in making a messFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
Best of luck with that Faith! I want to try to clean my bedroom and maybe move things around if I can summon the energy.
I've managed to do two loads of washing and bleach an old cotton sheet for my rag rug making. I've also got a loaf in the breadmaker (hooray!) which will save me having to go out for bread.
Time for a coffee and perhaps some medicinal chocolate...I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Hi Messies!
SoWorried, sorry you`ve hurt your back, and do rest it as JPS said, maybe with a hottie bottle if it helps - but whatever you do rest in a decent position, cushions for support etc - don`t rest in a `slouch`! (Ha! You can tell where I`ve been lately!)
To those who have done or are planning de-Messying today, good stuff!
To those who CBA, have poorlies, or don`t feel up to it, ((HUGS))
To those with Birthdays to celebrate (or recover from!) more ((HUGS)) and thanks for the birthday wishes too. There`s a fine crop of us August Messies, it would appear!
So far, I`m enjoying my day, but my face is aching from last night...laughing!
Next door`s daughter (20) came to do my hair, then we had a few glasses of wine together (practice run!) and we showed her some `Fawlty Towers` on Utube. She`d NEVER seen any of that!!! It was lovely to share it with a new convert!
Today, I`ve done dishes & cleared windowsill to put b`day cards up, and we`re off to pub this evening. Not doing much in between, just nipping to farmshop & need to buy sugar .I usually buy loads at a time, but we now appear to be almost out!
Have a great day, all xx0 -
happy birthday Emm!! Hope you enjoy the rest of your day! xx Last night sounds like fun
soworried - hope your back is better soonxx
sonastin thank you, yes I wouldn't have put the glass away and not used it, I liked using it a lot! I'm just annoyed that in this case it was my carelessness that broke it, I know it's silly but it was the one thing I could hold in my hands and think, G gave me this just weeks before she died. I know that what you hold in your head and heart is more important though0 -
Cheers Cat! You are right, of course & so is Sonastin about using things rather than keep them unused but safe - I know if I gave someone a present I`d far rather they used it.
I`ve already had some fun today - I bought a little pressie, but it`s not for me.
On the way back from farmshop I nipped into Lidl, & saw an ex-neighbour...he was a nasty man, the only bad neighbour we`ve ever had. My next-doors were new at the same time, M was a single mum then & we got on well from the start. Mr Nasty had been here about a year, and everyone else in the road were already fed up of him (all the rest got on well, always). He picked on next door straight away, and she was really timid in those days. One day, I`d given the kids a tub of pavement chalks, and M`s youngest 2 & my DGD were having fun - it`s a dead end, so safe for little ones to play in the road. Mr Nasty only went banging on M`s door, shouting at her and her kids for making a mess!!! (They were outside mine & M`s, nowhere near his bit of pavement anyway) but he was demanding she go out and wash it all off, threatening to get her evicted, ...she was in tears and getting all panicked.
GRR! I am not normally one to get involved and throw insults around, it takes a lot to get me going, but that day I just BLEW! I told M to leave the chalky bit as it was. I tackled Nr Nasty full on. Told him he was nothing but a nasty bully, picking on her, and that I`d get the police to him if he bothered her or her kids again. I told him he was a coward, as he didn`t come knocking on MY door about it, and that if he ever did I`d smack his ugly face for him & let the dog out (not Daftie-dog, but my big old boy who we sadly lost a few years ago.) He went off huffy, didn`t bother M again, and shortly after the incident he put his house up for sale! (coincidence?) The whole street was delighted!
Well there he was today, and for some reason all smarmy smiley to me in Lidl - just opposite the bargain baskets with PAVEMENT CHALK!!! It was Heaven sent. He said `hello there`, and I just picked up a tub of chalks, waved it at him with a smile and said `hello` back. He scuttled off with a face like he`d just chewed a wasp. M.`s kids are chuffed with the chalk, M & I have just had a good laugh and a big hug!
I`m off to get ready to go to the pub, (still loving the pong, Cat, thanks yet againxx) but we`ll only stay out a couple of hours.
I shall raise a glass of real ale to all you Messies. God Bless.xx0 -

Hiya all. And happy birthday to all I've missed xx
Had a lazy/exhausted day yesterday, but managed to get moving today and started laying the gravel in the front border. It isn't the nicest job, crawling under plants to fit the weed control fabric, but managed nine out of the ten bags before it started raining. And hopefully it will save work in the long run. Hopelessly underestimated the gravel required, though. Am working up the courage to go out and buy more. Sympathies to those with bad backs...please send strong-back vibes in my direction...import this0 -
Happy birthday Emm!
I've had a strange day, felt very low with no energy. I did some washing, and bleached an old cotton sheet for rag rugs, and then got really distracted thinking about patchwork again, and have started hunting for a nice pattern.
I have, of course, avoided any de-messying activity. Never mind, maybe tomorrow.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.
