My home is a mess

Mum has made one of those comments........that most people only hear occasionally or at least not in their own homes! I hate the way I let her bother me so much.
It is the one thing that holds me back the most (well ok, sometimes it is because I am a lazy cow)in the de-messying battle.
I pretended I didn't hear it and have showered. just getting dressed now.
I suppose people will always judge you, it is the reaction you have that makes the difference. And people do not change.
Off to Sainsburys in a bit.
xxNevertheless she persisted.0 -
Isis - as Possession said a few pages back, a Physio would be the best person to assess and advise about crutches/walking stick etc. The height and type can make a huge difference as to whether it`s a help or even a hindrance. Ask GP for a physio referral - they are brilliant, and even if you have a long wait till they can see you, go for it! (I was dead lucky getting in on a cancellation, the appointment - first assessment- took an hour and a quarter, and they are SO thorough.) Lots of useful advice about posture etc - and the little things that affect your posture, but they really analyse your movements and there are lots of ways they can help you, simple things really, but well worth trying.
The NHS apparently has a shortage of crutches, so even if Physio can`t issue you with some, maybe only enough for emergencies, they will advise about what type of stick might be best, or what to avoid. I would really beg you to get yourself assessed by physio, via GP referral. Isis, if you have a chronic problem I`m sure your GP would be quite happy to refer you. Good luck xx0 -
Motivate me please! Today is my birthday and people will start arrivingg for my party at 2 pm. Living room needs a tidy, but the kids can do that. Kitchen needs a thorough clean, bathroom refreshed, food prepared. I am still in bed, in a morose, semi-paralysed mood, feeling depressed for no reason. Please shout at me until I get up and get into a cleaning and then partying mood!
Hopeful you are up and about now but if not COME ON! Happy Birthday, just remember its your day and you do what YOU want. No pleasing anyone else OK? Seriously though, sometimes happy days can make you feel too much pressure, I hope it all goes well.
JPS - could you get rid of some of the books at least? Maybe say I will ditch half and keep half for now or something? Or would that be too hard?
Nothing much doing here, going dog walking later I think, DS1 is still in bed!
Hi Cat - take it easy and hope you feel better soon x0 -
(((hugs))) buffy. Don't really know what else to say!
x It's horrible how one person's comments can affect your mood soooo badly - for me it's DD1. And sometimes DD2
thanks YL
x Hope you're well today, how are DS and the pooch?
jps - if you're going to try and get rid of some of the books, try not to look at them too much while you're doing it. I thought I'd really miss all the CDs I bunged in a rubbish bag a few weeks ago, even though I never listened to them. I haven't missed them one bit. Mind you, I still haven't felt strong enough to do any more than the most minimal book-decluttering so don't listen to me!:o0 -
thanks Cat, must just learn to get over it and ignore it.
Caterina are you up with the music? Happy Birthday!
Jps I kept my books............I have a fairly serious book problem, I hate getting rid of knowledge! But I am going to list some of my more naff books on green met.
really must to go Sainsburys now! lolNevertheless she persisted.0 -
JPS - your cricket wrangling stories still make me chuckle too - I was telling OH about your post where you said about the escapees, and the blackbird looking smug!
Sonastin - I know we need a holiday sometimes, but sometimes it can be a relief to get them over with as well. Keep up the good works!
Laurel - welcome back - your flea nightmare sounds horrible, hope you have it sorted now.
SoWorried - as you and several others here have said, there is still a huge block of thought that folks can or should `just pull themselves together` - and it`s such a lot of piffle! The trouble is, it makes things worse for the sufferer, makes them feel that they`re being judged and makes them feel unable to talk freely about their problem. That`s one of the GREAT things about this forum, you only have to read a few pages anywhere on the Messy board to know folks understand and want to help themselves and each other - WE don`t support the piffle!!0 -
Tatabubbly - belated Happy Birthday!! Glad you had a good time. Mine`s tomorrow - I really don`t want a fuss about it, so glad to be on annual leave this week. DS`s `pressie` is the re-working of my computer - in time for me to get used to it. He`s done a great job on a dead machine, I`m chuffed to bits with the `new` one!! (still got `spare` screws & cables all over the place though!)
Snookey - nice to go away, but good to get home again, eh?
Yorkshirelass - I know what you mean about the dog....but for his sake too, he`ll need to start getting used to not having his new family around ALL the time.
Bailey`sBabe - sorry to hear your OH is poorly - hope he`s improving now. Well done on getting stuff done though, whilst juggling his needs & the kids - not easy!
Bearcub - Could I please borrow that rugby team?!!0 -
Happy birthday to all!!
got all my jobs done apart fron mopping the bottom of the doggie kennel..
i'm off to work now, the joys of retail!!

Caterina -HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Hope you`re getting into the mood by now.
Buffy - ((HUGS)) Count to ten - try to ignore...it`s hard though. For me it`s usually DS, but he`s being great at the mo so I count myself lucky.
Cat - glad you seem to be coming out the other side of that cold hun.
Apologies to anyone I`ve missed out, had pages to catch up and didn`t mean to hog the board....
My News...
Physio session the other day went well, thanks folks who asked - mostly I`m relieved & reassured that it`s not some permanent damage, very thorough assessment/examination, plus some good tips and and exercises that I really think are helping a lot. Another appt next week. Work last 2 days very stressy, which doesn`t help cos you tense up - but now a week off to try to sort house & myself out.
Trying to count my Blessings :
Work-wise, we now have a `new` batch of doctors on the ward, and in only a couple of days I can say they are LOVELY! Also, one new colleague, still trying to find her feet, appreciated a bit of moral support & reassurance from Grumpy ole Emm - a new friend there, methinks!
My runner beans are still growing slowly...
Bee-hotels appear to be doing well.
Last couple of nights` suppers went well.Considering last-minute throw-togethers!
I`m going to change LR rugs (very manky- straight into the boot for launderette tomorrow) and Henry the floor. That usually makes a big difference & looks like I`ve done loads!
Have a nice day allxx0 -
Grumpy ole Emm? Who's she then, I don't know her?!

More dishes done, just a few glasses left now. I'm pretty annoyed and upset though, I managed to break a glass. No big deal usually, except this time it was a Bailey's glass out the set DD1's gf bought me the Christmas before last, and I'd already broken the other one

Going to chill and watch the tennis now.0
