I was hoping for a lie in this morning but OH asked me to help him lift paving in the garden. So I dragged myself out of bed earlier than I would have liked, only to find that he's got stuff to do in the house first and wants to do the garden this afternoon. As I'm already out of bed, I know I ought to use this time more productively but instead I'm just sitting here in PJs with a second (and probably 3rd!) cup of tea watching the triathalon.
Someone please give me a kick up the backside to at least go and get dressed!0 -

My mum suggested I treat puss with the steam. I think she was joking...
:eek::eek::eek::rotfl:
I do frontline every three months ish... I haven't seen any sign of fleas and she doesn't scratch.
I haven't seen a single sign of fleas since about 2007, when my older cat died. He was always the one who seemed to get fleas, little white and grey cat doesn't seem to suffer from them, but then she is mostly an indoor cat these days (lazy creature!)
Ok ladles and jellyspoons, I have an announcement to make...
...
...
DE-MESSYING HAS COMMENCED!
I am tackling the junk heap in the spare room today, and sorting out the heaps of linen.
I have an old rattan arch shelf unit thing, that was storing clean linen until I found out that the cat was jumping up onto the shelves and making nests in it!
I find it a bit ugly, and was thinking of chucking it out, but in the finest MSE spirit, I am going to mend it, paint it with eggshell emulsion (I have some in ready to do a kitchen project) and turn it into a nice shabby chic thing. Theoretically!
Hope all messies are well and happy today, I will be looking in every few minutes as I have no stamina!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Afteroon Messies.
Laurel, it sounds as if you have fleas with attitude in your house! I hope you find something that works soon, because it's really horrible to have those creatures in the carpets, waiting to nip your ankles.
Jps, great announcement! Has anything actually happened yet?
Buffy, good to see you again. Sorry about the row - hope all is mended soon.
Sonastin, a bit late, but KICK!! My OH sometimes does as yours did - he's going to do 'something', then goes off at a tangent. When you re-arrange what you were going to do (even a lie-in) it's very irritating!
Soworried, bless you for asking about my evening out. Yes, it was enjoyable, but it was a Bible-study group, that I go to every Friday. It isn't exactly a party, but we do have a few laughs as we all know each other very well. Good to see that you're up and going today, and well done for taking the kids out.
We have good weather here, although there's a fair amount of cloud about. Was out with the local churchyard working party this morning, and it was warm and humid. Had a reporter from the local paper come and take photos, because we had a rugby team come to help clear some heavy weight stuff away, partly to a bonfire, and partly to a waste skip. Have to go over to the church later, to move some furniture around for tomorrow's service - OH is going to help. I'll probably not be doing any de-messing today, although I'd quite like to get the vacuuming done.0 -
Hi all
Well our Saturday started really well. OH, myself and DS1 took the dog for a short walk which turned into an epic adventure across the fields and we ended up doing 4.5 miles! The sun was out and it was lovely. Came back and had a full english breakfast even though it was nearly lunchtime.
Have been very lazy since then, although I have managed to hoover up some dog hairs and put some washing out. It looks like it is going to pour down any minute. Will have to take the dog out again later even if it does rain.
Wheres Cat gone? Give us a shout love - even if its just to say hi so we know you are OK. Did you ever get that washing machine sorted?
Ah well, I am going to bring the washing in I think then might tidy up a bit. Seem to have a lot of the kids stuff taking over the front room with them being on hols so might get them to give me a hand.
Have a good afternoon everyone x0 -
Hey messies, YL - thanks xxx I'm okay, just still fighting the cold and feeling a bit blah mentally - I haven't posted because I haven't got a single thing to say, not even a moan lol and certainly no demessying, and I can't remember anyone's posts!:o
There isn't a clean dish in the house
hugs all xxx0 -
I am also having problems in the !!!! moving department. Having broken up on the Friday and gone away on the Sunday, I'm still struggling to get on top of the washing from last term. I'm running out of places to put the piles of wet washing I've nowhere to hang, on account of there being wet blankets...well, everywhere. Who knew the kids had five each...in summer????? I have *nothing* to wear...the clothes I washed on Thursday morning are *still* wet, and I'm now into my third day in my last set of work clothes, which means I can't do anything meaningful in the garden, even when it isn't raining.
Added to that, I've come back with a bit of mild gastro, and while the episodes of pain are mercifully short, I'm sure it's contributing to my general lassitude.
Starting to feel a bit panicky and depressed...two weeks into the holidays and nothing, not even the washing, achieved. Which is stupid, because I haven't been here.

Hi all, sorry to butt in....
Re: fleas. Do you get the flea injections? They sabotage the eggs so the next generations cannot hatch. Dont kill the adults but def prevent infestations. Cannot remember the frequency of the injections but worth considering. For a big infestation i would also recommend frontline from the vet as it has an extra active ingredient that can be sold on perscription.

Well, a lot of sitting-on-ample-behind has been done, but yes, I am delighted to say, some de-messying has been done!
It's actually looking worse up there for the moment, but I am in the decision making phase and some things have already hit the bin. I am gathering the good stuff and stuff that I want to upcycle or give away etc. in heaps too, and some stuff is ready to go in the loft.
All this, and three (count them messies) THREE loads of washing done AND DRY!!!!!!!!!!! All I can say is, get a dri-buddy if the funds will stretch.
You have to turn stuff around and it works best if you drape things over the hat stand bit, rather than put things on hangers - but it really works, and the electricity bill (just did my reading and predicted bill online) is way down this month so I can let myself use it a fair bit.
It's only fair to say I'm on my own, and have the luxury of doing small washing loads, though. You'd probably need a battery of these things to get a big family's washing dry, but for smaller things on an emergency basis, it's way cheaper than a TD.
Edit: laurel I just read your post again and realise that mine looks a bit insensitive. Believe me, this house is such a tip and although I've got it in me today to start, there's no guarantee I'll be able to keep it up. Sorry if I seem a bit happy-clappy
hope your gastro problem clears up soon too.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.
