My home is a mess

Hi
I haven't posted much on this thread but I do try to read it regularly.
I just thought I'd share that I have a clear dining room table and it looks amazing, I'm proud of the fact it's finally done but disgusted that it gets full of c**p all the time.
I just get so fed up of doing all the cleaning when everyone takes a hand in making it untidy
Starting to save £2 coins again, but it is a struggle:rotfl:Not doing very well keep spending them

Not made much progress!
Went to Sainsburys, also dropped in to the aquatic shop and bought some fish! have spent most of the day cleaning the tanks rearranging the tanks, putting the fish in and then watching the fish!
I did walk the puppies. but room is a MESS. need to sort that and pack for tomorrow. We are going to the Olympics! am excited but am going with my Mum and Sister and her BF. We don't exactly get on. So yeah. It is a mixed blessing!
need to go do 30 minutes in my room.
Cat - I hate it when I break things too so hugs from me

Hi,
I've just been lurking for a few days!! haha!! Our youngest daughters birthday today, she's 8 - where does the time go??!! Had a quick flit round with the hoover this morning before people started arriving with presents. Went to the cinema this afternoon and then made supper for all of us and my parents. I'm now enjoying the athletics.
Not doing anything tomorrow, so i'm going to try and get the kids bedrooms tidied....:p
Hope everyone is ok!

cheers Milly:beer:, you may have just got me off my !!!! to go sort my room outNevertheless she persisted.0 -
[QUOTE jpscloud; Thanks for the ideas re. the books... they really are going to have to go, but as you say Buffy, it feels so wrong to throw away knowledge,
You're not actually throwing these books in the bin are you?
If you are passing them on to a charity shop you must never think of it as chucking them out. Someone somewhere may be able to use them however out of date. Even if they end up in the recycling at least that is a tree saved
AND I have a real attachment to books, but the thought that they can be enjoyed by someone else really spurs me on with de-messing. In fact I think this is the way to think of all those things you get stuck on shifting out of the house.
I was really struck by how much the original 'Mr Richard' kept saying "but it might be useful" on the tv program, but lots of old plastic milk cartons or bottles aren't being useful on his window sill - they needed to be down the recycling centre being turned into park benches or re-filled with more milk.

Evening Messies.
Phew, didn't think I'd ever get in here to post. I've been in several times today, started to read, then got interrupted, either by OH or by tennis, so have had real problems remembering what everyone has said.
Buffy, I'm sorry your problems with your mum continue, especially as I get the impression that she's said something that hasn't exactly boosted your self-esteem. I hope you all get to enjoy the Olympics tomorrow, and that there will be peace amongst you. What are you going to see?
Cat, I'm really pleased to see that you're picking up after your cold, and your 'slump'. My OH, in his rugby days, used to be nicknamed Slumper - I never worked out why. You're wiser than you think you are. You already kinda know what you should be doing (re de-messying and your DDs), but you just need a gentle push to do it! <hugs>
Emms, I'm so pleased to hear that your physio has been so successful, and that the new doctors are luvverly. Both will, I'm sure, make your job more enjoyable. Sorry, can't lend you the rugby team, as I haven't a clue where they came from, although presumably from somewhere on the Island.
Happy Birthday to Caterina - who's probably comatose after celebrating, but her home is much cleaner - or perhaps was cleaner.
Belated happy birthday to farmerswife's DD, too. I hope she had a good day.
Milly, I've found, since coming onto this thread, I'm a lot firmer with myself. If I've been using something, instead of leaving putting away until later, I try to make sure I do it NOW. Of course, there are times I don't, but the intention is there.
I've finally unpacked books I bought a couple of weeks ago, done one WM load which dried outside (yes, we've had sun all day!), and sat and watched the Olympics a lot. I've watched more tv in the last 10 days, than I did in the 4 previous months.0 -
Bearcub you are so right, I am comatose from eating too many carby sugary treats, drinking too much prosecco and singing for hours! But very happy, feeling loved by my dear friends and family, thank you all on this thread for the encouragement! And, yes, my house is cleaner than it has been in a long(ish) time, we even tidied up and cleaned after the party ended! Writing this in bed on DH IPad so good night all! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

My sentiments exactly....especially with the bathroom :mad:0 -
I am soooooooooooo tired! Plans to change window went totally awry, OH got into a real tizzy about how much he needs to do on the house and we ended up working pretty much continuously for the whole day - didn't stop until 8pm.
Window still isn't in but we did get most of the flowerbed finished - apart from 2 paving slabs stuck in the middle that we didn't have the energy to lift. They'll get done another day. OH will have to fit the window tomorrow. Hopefully our neighbour will be around to help. He won't have the patience to wait until I get home from work and it really needs to be a 2-man job.
Buffy- don't let what your ma says get to you. I know its easy to say but imagine you're wearing a teflon suit - the insults can just bead up and roll off the surface.
Cat - would DD's gf prefer you to be making use of the gift or leave it wrapped in tissue paper at the back of the cupboard. I know how upsetting it is to break the memories but I'm sure she'd be happier knowing that she'd given you a useful gift than something you didn't dare look at for risk of breaking. I say this on the day that OH completely killed off one of my dad's power tools. To be fair, my dad thought I'd completely knackered it long before he died, but OH resurrected it. He's been making good use of it during our buildng works but it finally gave up the ghost today. Just wish my dad knew it stopped working through overuse rather than through my stupidity!
Emms - glad the physio worked. The only reason I take the private healthcare option at work is to be able to get physio if I ever need it. Sprained my ankle badly a few years ago and the physio fixed it properly. My bro has had similar injuries and no treatment to both ankles and has never got back to full fitness.
I'm sure there's more to reply to but my head is shattered. An early night should be in order but I think I've left it too late!0 -
I've just read about all that has been written in the last 24 hours, so sorry if I forget to mention something or somebody. Birthday wishes, I' m lost on how many birthdays are being celebrated this weekend. Hugs to all those that need them. Thank you for asking about OH, he has been a little better today and set himself the challenge of doing bits when he has been feeling well enough. This included numerous bowls of washing up, he just kept working on stuff for most of the day even when he used his oxygen only pausing long enough to use the tank.
Today we have managed to:
clear & sort everything that was on the dining room window cil, our cils are wide (45cm) & the d/rooms is 280 cm, lots of space to dump stuff.
Numerous loads of washing up.
Kitchen floor swept.

Ds room tidied
living room tidied
Some how also managed to do stuff with the children, take the to the afternoon activity group & have dn visit for a few hours.
