smart thinking with the chocolate bar alec :D

    Gilly well done, great start!

Well I'm still sitting here - trying to persuade the kids to get out of bed and come out but having no success. DD1 is awake but has said a categorical "no", DD2 is half awake and mumbled that she is too tired, haven't even bothered trying DS yet as he was pretty negative about the whole idea yesterday! Have said we'll just go to Largs and do stuff (bowling etc) rather than go walking but still zero interest. I'm a bit fed up really - I know it's perfectly normal for teenagers not to want to do family stuff but we never - well, hardly ever do it and I thought it would be fun just for once :( Unlike them I don't really have anyone else to do things with :( Not their problem of course but still....

If it is any consolation Cat, two of my three are still in bed. I did briefly meet my eldest son and did a double take because he was up so early but he has gone back to bed.

Going out for an evening is more realistic in this house but then I am worn out by the time they are ready to get going.

:rotfl:I do the double take thing too! If they had something planned with their mates though, they'd be up! :D

I think I might just go shopping instead.....:o

    :p Hey Messers!

Well Trying to get out to the garden today in between the showers.... :o My plan for a mini wine garden may have to wait as it seems there are other bits of the garden that need to be done first..

Going to have a quick clean around the house before I head outside, the 3 dogs always shead so much hair! :rotfl:

Planning a dinner of leftovers, going to blend my last night chicken casserole into some soup for tonight. DOH knows were on a financial diet and says he's always surprized with what I come up with!

Also must tackle the bags upstairs so I can take them to the charity shop!

  • GRRR! I just typed a long post and it disappeared!
Cat - ((HUGS)) what a horrible situation to be in with your mum and DD1. No wonder your relationship with DD1 is difficult if she`s grown up with granny`s interference like that. Enjoy your day out hun, a day out By Yourself sounds like just what you need! (ps - I`m still loving the new pong!xx)

Morning fellow Messies, thanks for the lovely welcome and self-esteem boost. We still have loads to do before the weekend.

The dining room has now become the Room of Doom as all the stuff which needs to go to the tip/be stored until loft is boarded, is sitting in here (me too as my desk is in here), waiting for DH to return from work trip, to drag all out to the shed. I then need to clean every other room and bath the dog!

    So today's plan:

    1. Garden centre at lunchtime (to get pressies for the visitors and some decorative plants)
    After work:
    1. Pick DD up, fed, bathed and into bed.
    2. Clean the bathroom.
    3. Get all storage stuff shifted to shed.
    4. Clean our bedroom
    5. Clear pantry for new fridge and move old freezer and fridge (delivery tomorrow)
    Still to do:
    1. Plant up recently cleared border (all plants ready and gasping in pots)
    2. Pick up dog flea/worm treatment and treat.
    3. Order balloon arch (still undecided as to whether or not to do this for celebrations)
    4. Clean kitchen, Lounge, dining room, landing and hallway.
    5. Ironing
    6. Sew up privacy curtain for downstairs loo (window looks out into shared access).
Oh my goodness , still a huge amount to do, I have Friday off work and first visitors shouldn't be arriving too early, Mum of two driving down from Scotland with the babies! So so so pleased she's making such a massive effort to visit us. Her DH works in Birmingham so he's driving over late Friday night to join them.

I promise I will catch up with all your posts so I can get to know you all too. :D

I would like to say thanks to everyone here. I've just finished painting the skirting boards and I don't think I'd have done it by now had I not been posting up here and making myself accountable to you all.

    I have eaten my bounty.

I now have to tidy the decorating stuff away *hoooooorrrraayyy*, put the furniture back, wundaweb the bottom of the curtain together and rehang them, sweep up and collapse in a big heap.

I promise I won't leave it another 2 years 3 months and 24 days to clean the curtain rail again.
  • Yorkshirelass - hope you and your new dog slept ok. He`ll soon settle in, he sounds like he`ll be happy now he`s got folks of his own to love.
SoWorried - glad to hear from you, even if it`s only to report that nothing got done, no judgements here! I feel a bit lethargic, it`s so hot & clammy here, not conducive to energetic stuff at all!
RosalieLavender & Cat - I do the double-take thing too if I see DS or DGD before noon!
AlecEiffel & Gilly & Bobble-hat - well done you lot, glad to hear we`re not all lethargic on here!
Buttercup - I do have a bit of a problem with frozen leftovers like the one you describe. I`m ok if I plan ahead and get stuff out to thaw before it `relocates` in the freezer when I`m rummaging for something else!
I`m scared of hairdressers too - have been all my life, would rather go to dentists (not for a hair-do, of course...) I`m lucky my neighbour`s daughter does mine here -occasional trimming of the ends, and helps me slap on/rinse off the colouring - which I hate doing as well!
Isis B - have fun with your new toy hun! I`m not an ice-cream fan myself, nor are the rest of household, but the idea of home-made treats is so wholesome, and you`d know exactly what went into it... that`s worth the effort I reckon.
Snookey - WHAT a RAT that wardrobe bloke must be! Glad the removals guys made him pay up, that was worth knowing, eh?
Tatabubbly - it`s a good feeling when you get some praise for a nice meal that didn`t cost much! One of life`s great buzzes, I think.
    Messy Status-
I`ve collected all the shopping bags that were hanging around (dunno why I have so many!) and chucked them in the boot of the car.
Washed up & wiped kitchen tops.
LR not too bad. (Daftie-dog has been lying around outside back door a lot when it`s been so hot here, so it`s maybe less hairy indoors?)
Need to go and have a shower/wash hair, then nip to farmshop.
Have a good day everyone xx

    Afternoon Messies.

Buttercup, the state of my hair makes no difference to my motivation - I either feel like clearing up, or I don't. Tbh, our bungalow is too small to allow it to be very cluttered, so it's rarely got too dreadful. I do, though, have a tendency to just 'let things go' a bit occasionally, and the place looks a mess, rather than a complete tip. This forum has the effect of making me feel 'accountable', as alec said, so recently bits have been cleared away, and dirty patches cleaned more sooner than later.

Cat, your mother sounds like my MiL used to when our girls were little. Whenever we reprimanded either of them for something, MiL would either tell them "it doesn't matter" with a wink, or tell us to leave them alone, they were fine. Eventually, OH told her that the reason they were 'fine' was because we told them off occasionally.

    Well done, alec eiffel! :T:T

Bobble hat, you've done amazingly. Great what a 'push' impending visitors can be, huh?

YL, I hope you and your family managed to get a decent night's sleep last night, and you're all getting along well.

    Soworried, keeping hanging on!

I've done nothing except strip the bedding off our bed, and put the duvet cover ito soak. It's got blood stains on, from our poorly puddy's nose. Don't think she's going to be with us for much longer, but she is 19, so she's done ok.

Really lovely day here, so I'm taking Mum out for a stroll by the sea in a while, and we'll probably have a cuppa while we're out.

    See ya later.
