Well the dog slept very well last night, in fact it was almost too easy and I am wondering if it was a bit of a one off! I wish he would settle in his crate in the car as easily as he is really not keen on being in there.

Had an eventful day, one of DSs friends came to call and for some reason the dog went mad, hurling himself at the garden gate and barking. I am fairly sure it was excitement rather than aggression but I felt so sorry for the poor lad who will probably never try to knock at our door again!

Been out for a nice doggy walk today but I am going to have to get the hoover out tomorrow. Amazing how keen the kids are to go walking at the moment - bet it doesnt last!

DS has been reasonably OK the last week or so (thanks Cat!) I think he is enjoying the distractions of his brother being at home and the new dog.

Right, better go and see if we have enough shepherds pie to feed 5 as I have acquired another child who wants feeding. Why does this always happen when you need to go shopping?

YL, I am pleased (thought probably not nearly as much as you!) that the dog slept. Maybe, already he feels he ahs to protect his family from all-comers. Shame it had to be aimed at a young lad, though.

The bay was heaving today, which was lovely to see. It's very picturesque, but usually very under-used. On the way home, very nearly had an ooopsy with a car that signalled left, then pulled in, then signalled right and pulled out. Cue, lots of abuse from the male driver about women drivers. Turns out he lives in our road so, after I'd dropped Mum off, I went to see him. By this time, I'd realised that he'd pulled in to let another car through, a car I hadn't seen because of a queue of traffic in front of me. I still maintain that his signals were very confusing. Anyway, he came out, full of sarcasm, which I told him wasn't necessary because I wanted to apologise. He toned it down a little, but kept on about how it's easy to make assumptions. I did ask if he never had made mistakes, at which he calmed down. Anyway, we ended up shaking hands and exchanging names. Oh, found out that he and his wife are horse riders, too.

Don't you just love making work for yourself
    Burned the rice for dinner
Placed pan on a plastic chopping board and melted it
So pan is now burned inside and welded with blue plastic outside
And it was only yesterday that I did something similar by placing a plastic board in the oven
    ...
    Pan is now soaking
But dinner was lovely - eventually....................

Oh and the oven can wait till I get back from Cornwall as already spent 3 hours trying to get the plastic off

gilly, I am also a pan burner! When we moved into our first house in 2003 I was trying to be good and tidy and put all the things away and be a good homeowner but I trapped myself in the living room and I'd put a pan of rice on to cook. So instead of DH coming home to a lovely meal he came home to a flustered woman and a house full of smoke!

I'm planning to just do the minimum jobs today and that's that. Going to have a nice sit down and a good poke through some magazines and blogs. Have a good day everyone.

Gilly, a blade from a stanley knife will be the easiest option. I use one to clean my hob and oven. If you do it carefully you don't scratch it and it comes up spotless. x
You deserve a rest day alec x

Thankyou for the messages, I just haven't felt too good the last few days.

No more giving in to it!
1St hour, recycling done, curtains opened and dishes taken from front room in to the kitchen.
2nd hour, settees straightened and cushions plumpt up. Fish fed.

I admire you for this Bearcub - not many people would have made the effort to go and see him and put things right.

Must do a bit of cleaning and tidying and I really need to get some food shopping, should have done an online shop last night. Hoping the kids will be happy with a day at home today but I think DS was making plans to go to the cricket nets with a friend. The kids love the sports field where this friend lives but its about 10 miles away. Thats the worst of living in the middle of nowhere, everything involves a car journey. Suppose I could drop them off there and go dog walking for a hour or two.

Right DS1 is in bed, DS2 is watching telly and the dog is snoring in the chair - must get on!

Well the burned saucepan is now scrubbed to within an inch of its life and in the dishwasher for that to do its stuff.

Kitchen surfaces all swished and wiped - ooh get me using flylady terms:rotfl:

WM load on again - where does it all come from?

Extra jobs for today - change library books, tip run as we go on hols tomorrow and bin men do not come till Monday, returns from the Next sale purchases, finish packing motorhome, hair cut and highlights, collect prescription

Plus all the usuals, DW, WM, ironing, walk dog, cook dinner

And where is DOH in all this, work :rotfl: then golf straight after . How the heck does he think this stuff all gets done?

Oh well - keep my mind focussed on next year, 5* All Inclusive Honeymoon, still need to decide where but waiting till after my surgery to choose, current possibilities are an East Coast America Tour or Dubai for a few days and then Mauritius, not very :money:but will be a once in a lifetime:j

May report back later, but if not see you all in a couple of weeks and best wishes and hugs xx

Gilly have a great holiday :) xx And honeymoons shouldn't be :money: unless they have to be, both those possibilities sound fab - I'm not sure which I'd choose, maybe the East Coast trip. I like to get off the beaten track :)

alec that's great, must be very satisfying to have finished:T

soworried good for you, it's great that you're getting back on the saddle so to speak!:T

bearcub glad you got your dispute sorted so amicably, I agree with YL, very admirable (and rather brave!) of you! :) x

YL glad DS is not too bad at the moment, bet he's enjoying the new dog :) As idyllic as it sounds to me, the practicalities of living in a remote spot must be tough with kids.

bobble well done, you're getting soooo much done!!:T

Emm thanks hun :) x I'm another who really doesn't enjoy the hairdressers, I don't like having to have conversations but equally I hate long awkward silences.

I had my day out yesterday - but almost didn't as I ended up having a quick look round the shops in the city centre, bought 3 OS maps in Waterstone's (well, they were 3-for-2 :o), a book, then went to Deben**ms to spend my beauty club reward money - more perfume :o But I'd already bought my train ticket so thought I'd better carry on. Went to Largs, wandered round the charity shops, sat on the beach with an ice cream, then sat outside a pub with a glass of wine. By this time I was brooding and feeling quite lonely so I went home:o

Today I have my psychiatrist appt at half 3, other than that I have to do dishes (in a deeply misguided fit of optimism I rather hoped they'd have been done when I got home last night - I had thought maybe I wouldn't get a DW after all but I'm wavering on that one now!), and have a good sort out in my bedroom because I've lost one of my favourite items of make-up and really want to find it. Oh, and I'm expecting a visit from GPP soon...:p

    hugs everyone xx
