  • Gilly - I used to be a pan-burner, especially when I tried to cook rice. Problem solved by using a steamer - I use the rice dish in the steamer and it`s perfect every time, plus no burnt pans. Enjoy your holiday!
Bearcub - fair do`s, going round to apologise. Sometimes that`s the best way to shut people up, as your neighbour clearly wasn`t expecting that!
    Yorkshirelass - happy dog-settling!
Cat - I don`t mind the chatty bit - I`ll rabbit on with anyone! I just hate having folks fiddle with my hair!!!Some find it very relaxing, not me. Hope your appointment goes well this pm.
SoWorried - it`s another hot day, ideal for `baby-steps`...
    Messy-wise...?
Nothing much...had a little potter in the garden, found some tiny beans on runner bean plants in tubs. Found my nasturtiums have WOW eventually got flowers on (I love these) and propped up some of the nasturtium runners. Spotted several small tortoiseshell butterflies as well as loads of bees on the privet blossom (Strimmer Man is leaving part of the mega hedge till the blossom is done.)
I refilled the birdfeeders, & got shouted at by a blackbird when I accidentally scared him off the redcurrant bush where he was feasting!
No pots, did them last night.
Now going to take a laundry basket of Doom outside to sort through....

Out into the garden today to gather up all the extra wee log bits I have, gathering them up for firewood as I have a giant stove which is very economical!

Washing on the line drying, first load in the dishwasher with another load waiting!

Now just catching up on some superscrimpers and then I'm off again outside! :)

    Afternoon Messies.

Gilly, I hope all goes well. Keep thinking of the honeymoon, and how exciting it'll be! Great shame abou the cooking mess, but hey, there are more important things in life. Very, very annoying, though. :(

Soworried, glad you feel upto doing a couple of bits today. :T

Cat, what a shame that your trip out was a tad lonely, but I'd guess that if the kids had been with you, you wouldn't have been able to tour the charity shops in your own time. I hope your appointment goes well and, remember, don't expect a miracle, and don't expect it to be a cheerful occasion. It really is a 'no pain, no gain' situation.

Isis black, keep some icecream for me! I'll be over as soon as you say it's ready. ;)

Thank you for the kind words about yesterday's 'discussion'. I was quite annoyed about the whole affair at first, but I really don't like bad feeling between neighbours. There's no doubt about it, the man has attitude problems (my OH was a tad alarmed when he realised who I'd been talking about), but I took the wind out of his sails a bit, I think. I still feel he was in the wrong, too, but retaliating accusations don't help. That's what often starts a war!

Just had really, really good news! DD2's place of work was put up for sale late last year, and was due to close down in October. They've now decided to keep it, and make it into an international conference centre! So, she and her bf can go ahead and start looking at buying a property and getting a mortgage, and all that grown-up stuff. :):)

Wow! You're all doing really well, I'm hoping once the party weekend is done, I will continue to get stuck in. I still have a load of bin bags in the shed full of children's clothes that my sister dropped off months ago and I've yet to go through.

They got lobbed into the shed last time we had someone to stay and I've not looked at them since, so I hope I keep up this momentum and don't just ignore all the bits I've managed to sort.

I did very little last night, it was still really hot and DH didn't get home until nearly 11pm! He's going to haul all the stuff out of the Dining room of doom tonight, into the shed whilst I get all the cleaning done. We still have some time tomorrow morning for the rest too and the tip is open tomorrow, so that will help. I did manage to drag another heavy item of furniture downstairs though, ready for the tip.

Got all the towels washed this morning, and have a load to put on tonight and that's the washing caught up with, have one more set of bed linen to wash and dry for Saturday for the visitors and must strip our beds tomorrow morning. Bought new shower curtain and bath mat yesterday, ours are minging, so they need to be swapped over once bathroom is clean.

Think it will be a late night tonight

Emm-in-a-pickle I have some nasturtiums, they seem to be growing great big leaves but no flowers, any tips?

You guys have just reminded me I meant to get my haircut too! Just phoned and they can fit me in Saturday morning, bit rude to my Friday night arrivals but best I can do.

Bobble-hat - My leaves were/are enormous too, and the flowers have only just come out today. No idea why, sorry! I really am the worst one to ask, as anything that grows here is stuff that thrives on neglect! I`m told that nasturtiums are like that once they get going, but this is the first time I`ve even magaged to get recognisable plants.

Bearcub - that`s great news for your DD2 (and quite a few others too!) It`s so hard for youngsters now, even without getting the rug pulled out from under their feet!
Tatabubbly & Bobble-hat, you`re the busy folks today!
I have done very little, but at least I HAVE done one laundry basket. All clean stuff that wasn`t put away -
outgrown trousers of DGD, passed on to next door
holey jama bottoms x 2, now cut up for cleaning rags.
lost summer dressing-gown, glad to see that again!
load of odd socks, DGD`s, now outgrown, in bin.
baggy cotton jumper, holey-knit. Claimed by DGD!
pile of last years xmas cards, now in recycling bag
    old bank statements, now shredded.
    One empty basket. PHEW!

I`ve also done 2 WM loads, now dry ready to come in.
Meal prepared for tonight - a sort of cottage pie effort, only with chicken (again!) & mushrooms in a thick sauce on the bottom, and leeky mash on the top, with a bit of tired cheddar grated over it. Only have to assemble the layers later.
I think that`s enough for today... will water my bean tubs later, but now going to sit outside with a naughty glass of wine!
    Have a nice evening folksxx

Hello everyone. Gilly your honeymoon sounds fab. Can I fit in your suitcase, lol.
Bearcub shows that your a really nice person the way you dealt with that driver. Not many people would have the guts to.
Cat Id have gone shopping with you. Its a pity we live so far away.
Talking about hair I mine cut today. Iv not been since November. Had a dry cut lots taken off. I dont like hairdressers as I get paranoid they are talking behind my back when I leave. Daft really.
Emm sounds as if your busy. Pie sounds nice.
Iv been thinking of reducing my meds as the weight gain is terrible.

    Hugs to everyone.

All jobs done apart from a little ironing so the evening is my own. I am in charge of the remote :j:j

Am I the only one here who loves her hair being cut - mind you been going to the same person, who I now consider a friend, for 13 years - perhaps that's the difference.

Highlights, cut and blow dry today £35, now that is :money:and she is going to come to me after my surgery to do next cut at home as wants to keep it on target for the wedding hair do :A

    Gotta love her

Oh, that pie sounds wonderful, Emms! You've reminded me, I've got some papers waiting to be shredded. In fact, they've been waiting for a week.

Snookey, like Emms, both my DDs hate having their hair touched by anyone but me and, in DD2's case, her bf. DD1 does occasionally have her hair trimmed, but YD does her own, not always successfully.

DD2 works for a union - they're great to their members, not so good to their employees, sadly. Their manager was called away to look after another union place for a couple of months, so was never around to sort out salary problems or similar, but it was him who suggested the international centre idea to the hierarchy. He couldn't say anything to his staff until he knew for sure that it was going to happen.

I've done 2 WM loads today, both bedding; I put away yesterday's washing-up, and cleaned the bathroom. OH did the vacuuming yesterday - not quite as complete as I would, but I wasn't going to complain. I've sat for over an hour doing a very long online survey - very interesting, but it did start to drag by the end.

I know snookey, it IS a shame! I meant to comment on your post a couple of weeks back when you said it would be good if we could all meet up. I agree, I'd love it. I did take the thing about the planned meet-up off my sig because I don't think I'd be able to organise the proverbial drinking session in a brewery right now, and for these things to happen, it really needs someone who is able to chivvy people along! But if anyone did, I'd gladly come along, distance no object with enough warning to get cheap fares :)

Emm I laughed my head off at you getting shouted at by a blackbird, sorry!!:D And I wouldn't say you've done very little, I think you've done loads!!

bearcub that's fantastic news, DD2 and bf must be so relieved - and you too! :)

Your giant stove sounds nice tata, that's one of the items on my "dream home" list. It's a VERY long list....:D

In New Indoor Plant News - well, it's still alive....:p Did half the dishes, and found the make-up item very quickly which kinda put paid to the bedroom sorting...:o Psychiatrist appt was very brief, just agreed I wasn't going to start new meds until after my op because there's no point really, I'd only have to come off them because of the anaesthetic. It's the psychologist appts starting end of August which will be tough - but I can't wait to get started :).

After my appt I went round the charity shops (shock horror!) and bought a book on CBT and the latest Agatha Raisin which I didn't have. I'd seen one of those sets of miniature perfumes in one shop when I was on my way to the appointment, with a couple that I know I love and some others I haven't tried (including your new pong Emm!!). I thought I'd leave it until I was on my way home again and if I still wanted it I'd buy it. Well, of course, by that time it had gone! Grrr! Oh well, £7 saved I guess! Then went and did some frozen food shopping.

Easy dinner tonight of Quorn chicken-style pieces curry with sauce out of a jar. I'm tired after being out and it's turned into a lovely evening, too warm to cook. That's my excuse anyway :)
