Bearcub - we have a local co-op supermarket just up the road - when they YS stuff the meat & poultry is usually a good bargain but the fruit & veg are minging!

That sounds like my local co-op - you must live near me:rotfl::rotfl:

This morning I have found my bedroom floor OH YEAH!!! and it was minging, but not now it has had a vacuum.
1 load of washing drying on line
1 v large duvet in machine washing as we speak.
Charity shop and tip run done.
    customers ironing returned.
10 items of our own also ironed and put away/worn:o.

Of now to have a sneaky peak at what the flyladies recommend for today and then will retire to the XBOX to recover from the shock:D.

    Afternoon Messies.

Wow, soworried, that was an amazing shopping trip! :T

You're doing remarkably well, Alec, for someone who doesn't enjoy decorating. OH and I aren't keen, either, which is why moving from a large 3-bed semi to a small bungalow has worked out rather well. Still, as you say, it will eventually be YOUR house done the way you want it, so keep your eye on the finish line!

Kitty, your man sounds like a good 'un! How lovely that you were able to have a girly trip out.

Sorry you missed the postie, Cat - something that might have taken your mind off the awful weather for a while. ;)

YL, I hope you've been able to collect the dog by now, and you're all busy getting to know him.

Emms, is 'fester' the right word? :rotfl: How's the neck coming on?

Welcome, tatabubbly. Keep osting, and we'll keep encouraging you.

Dinx, sounds like you're on a roll.

Here on the sunny isle, done a WM load which is just about dried outside, I've mucked out a stable, been into town (needed stable bedding, and decided to call into Lidl while in the area), and that's about all. May have a wander in the garden and pick on some poor innocent weed.

Welcome Dinx & Tatabubbly! You`ve both done a fair bit already today. Dinx, I`m in Wales! I`m lucky to have a great (& CHEAP!!) farmshop nearby (they do buy in stuff, but the stuff there is always `squeaky` fresh, so I buy loads there) Meat on a `sell by` date is fine, but I really think stale wilty veg is such a waste of money, cooking time & fuel!
Yorkshirelass, I`m SO exited for you - hope you`ve had your phone-call and on your way to kennels right now! Do let us know asap.
Cat - Pity your DD was home at the time, or you could`ve answered the door wearing a damp towel & lots of bubbles...
    Messy Status -
Cotton rugs taken to launderette, collected, and out on washing line.
LR floor Henry`d, mopped with Dettol floor stuff (doesn`t smell toiletty though), clean pair of rugs fetched from Caravan of Doom and down on LR floor. Phew!
    One load (towels) in WM.
Bins have been emptied, and fetched back in.
DGD is ATTEMPTING to find her bedroom carpet as I type....the way she keeps stopping & finding distractions in there it could take till the start of next term!
I`m off now to start the curry....

Bearcub, thanks, neck is much better, just the odd creak now! Still being cautious though. `Fester` is a sort of `family` word, goes back to when the kids were small. (Nigel Slater uses `let the flavours get to know each other`, makes it sound like a coffee morning!) Another odd one we use when cooking poultry is `bothering` a duck, or `bothering` a chicken. That comes from years ago when there was a particular cookery series on Sky, an elderly female presenter doing bizzarre poultry dishes, DS used to find it hilarious, `twas he who coined the phrase...
I`ve got the onion, curry powder & sweet potato festering (yes!) together now, and am thinking of doing taka dhal. This depends whether I can find the toor dahl - last seen in Caravan of Doom....

Im so fed up. The wardrobes I won on ebay came today only to find that one was crumbling due to woodworm. The seller has had them picked up and said he would refund the purchase price but not the delivery costs.
Iv opened a dispute with ebay as he should of mentioned the woodworm. He claims not to have known about the woodworm even though its full of holes and wood turning to dust. Says he described them as having age related defects.
Ill just have to wait now. He did offer a discount on other wardrobes he is selling but I pointed out that woodworm infects other furniture in the home an would no take the risk.
Sounds like everyone is having a good day. Yorkshire lass hope you have your dog soon.
My oh has cleaned up so I just need to tidy dd room and do the laundry.
    Tke care everyone.

That's not good, snookey. 'Age-related defects' doesn't have the same implications as woodworm, by a long way, and why would the seller use that term anyway, if he wasn't aware of the woodworm? Very dishonest, I'd say.

I love family words, Emms. I have a friend who uses the word 'schloofy', meaning cosy and sleepy, and another friend (from Wales) who introduced me to the word 'pogged', meaning full up with food. The latter has been used in our family since.

Couldn't see many weeds that desperately needed removing (our beds are well-covered in vegetation, anyway), and it's a bit too warm for gardening atm. Have sorted all the rubbish in 3 waste bins - some into recycling, some to be shredded, and some into the general bin. Have put away last night's washing-up, but didn't have to clean the hob. OH made SO much mess last night, that he cleaned it himself, last night. Just moved the piggy run into the shade. Forgot they were on the side of the grass which gets sun from mid-afternoon.

Bearcub we call anyone being loud as a gob on a stick. Don't ask where it came from.
I like the word pogged may use that term from now on.

Oh Snookey thats sooo disappointing. Its exciting when you buy something on ebay then when it doesnt turn out to be what you hoped its very annoying. Shame on that man for not describing it properly.

Well we didnt get our doggie today but we can pick him up at 11am tomorrow - yippeee!! At least it means I have got the grass cut today - which was bloomin hard work - and some other jobs done. I should confess that I am a tiny bit apprehensive about this now. I am sick of people telling me they know someone who got a rescue dog and it ate their furniture/wasnt house trained/barked all night. I just want to give him a nice loving home and hope we can make a good job of it.

Welcome newbies, you are amongst some of the friendliest people on the internet here!!

Off to get tea ready and might jump in the shower first, feeling a bit sticky and grubby after the gardening. At least its a bit more like summer here!

I've never had a dog, YL, but I know a number of people who've had rescue dogs. I gather they sometimes take a while to settle, but they usually turn out to be wonderful, so don't worry. I can understand, though, as both our equines are rescues. The first we got from the riding school where we learned to ride, so we knew him very well, but the pony was a different matter. The charity wasn't even sure of most of his background, but he's turned out to be a sweetie. You can only go by the judgement of the rescue centre; if they're to find people to adopt their animals, then they have to be reliable in the assessment of the dog and its future home.
