    Morning Cat :)

It is because I am annoyed at myself for getting so down last night. I refuse to give in to this cloud.
The bathroom like the garden was really starting to annoy me. Least it is sorted now and smells nice.

Wow this thread moves fast atm - either everyone is on a serious de-messying kick or everyone is on a mission to avoid having to touch the mess :rotfl: I know I'm here for the latter reason.

Haven't done a single thing today - had my graduation ceremony (attended purely for my mother's benefit :rotfl:) so went out about 11.

I think some of us come in for a chat, sonastin, rather than reporting messy status - I know I do. And the number of people coming in seems to be growing. A sign of the times, maybe?

Well done on your graduation! :T What's your subject?

Calluna, those mooring fees are horrific! If you're paying that much, I hate to think what fees must be in Cowes or Gunwharf in Portsmouth.

Well done, Scarlet Ravens, for sorting the cupboard - one overdue task sorted, by the sound of it. Isn't it satisfying when you've done something like that?

Well done, soworried, another much-needed task done.

Cat, are you ok? Is it the fight with the carpet cleaning that's getting you down? If so, leave it for now, and find something else you can do, that'll get you going again. <hugs>

Got a WM load of towels in this morning before we went out. Hung them out when we got back, buit it's now tipping down. No point in bringing them in, because they were still wet anyway, but I so wanted the to at leasr part dry, and get that lovely fresh smell. :(

Hi Messies...been MIA, sorry, but had a quick read...just a quickie now..
Laurel - congratulations on the job.xx
Kitty - I was so sorry to read about your dog. ((hugs))
Well done all who`ve been keeping up and ((hugs)) to the strugglers & stragglers! I`m definitely in the last category - neck still playing up (going doc-bothering tomorrow again) also had visitors (Godson & Mrs GS & their Large Puppy - a rottie crossed with a mystery dog, 5 months old...just as well the place wasn`t really tidy as Large Puppy & my old Daftie-dog got on ever so well, and trashed the place just `playing nicely`!)
Must go try & do a bit now...

aww thanks bearcub xx, I'm pretty ok I think - if I was really bad I wouldn't even be posting here - so by that barometer, I'm ok ;)

I dunno, I just feel fed up really, and with zero get-up-and-go. I don't know why! I've had some money to spend, it's less than 3 weeks till my much longed-for operation, me and DD2 are getting on fine and me and DD1 are on speaking terms (though I'm a bit down about something to do with her, it's really none of my business and I should chill out and butt out :p). Things are really pretty good!

Sometimes there's just no flipping rhyme or reason to things eh?:o

eta I think I feel a little empty. Does anyone else find that once they're able to get something they've wanted a long time, the actual having is never QUITE as good as the anticipation? :/

I've been procrastinating today but I'm working on my stairs this afternoon. We're restoring them to their 1960's gorgeousness and it's taking a looooong time!

Maybe the weather is making everyone feel a bit blah, grey skies do nothing to make me feel energetic.

It's quite a nice day here really! Quite warm, lots of cloud, but very bright with patches of blue sky and so far only spits and spots of rain! Hoping it stays that way because I've just put towels in to wash and it would be lovely to be able to hang them out for a change! :)

eta an hour on and the heavens have opened, rats!!!!

That's exactly what happened here, Cat. I've just brought the towels in, and hung them on the airer in the conservatory. They're no wtter than when they went out, and smell pretty good, so that'll do. It'll have to, really!

I know what you mean about expectation. I think I had the ultimate dream and expectation of coming here. It's been everything I hoped it would be and more, so nothing else can compete. Maybe, if you'd bought those new things one at a time, then the pleasure would have been greater - you know, the difference of opening all your Christmas presents at once, against drawing out the opening over the whole day. I don't know what to say that could change your view, except perhaps you could make yourself NOT use one of them for a week, so you appreciate it more when you do.

Today, I've cleaned the bathroom, done the washing, dusted our bedroom, and will do the lounge in a while. Also re-filled the bird feeders, and washed out a bigger box to put my craft stuff in, while it's 'in use' ie going to use it over the next couple of days. Oh, and dead-headed some plants which, now the sun's come out again (it had to, as soon as I brought the washing in, didn't it? ), I'm going out to finish.

Thanks bearcub, the Christmas presents analogy is a really good one! I'm actually feeling quite a bit better now :) I've decided on a new system for the carpet cleaning. Today I'm going to finish the hall - nearly done! - or at least one going over of it, instead of doing bits of different rooms here and there. Some parts aren't perfect - and there are too many [STRIKE]cigarette burns[/STRIKE] reminders of great parties :p but hey it does look a LOT better! I was silly to get down thinking it wasn't working - the numerous tanks of filthy water I've tipped down the toilet show that it is! :)

Over the next two days I'll do the living room, then my bedroom.

Next week, I'll give everywhere another going over IF I have any solution left (unlikely!!).

Other than that, I've cleaned the top of a chest of drawers in my bedroom. Now I'm going to make some lamb I bought for DD2 (I'm not mad keen but might have a bit) before she goes to another party tonight :)

Oh I know we all come for a chat sometimes. Its just that there's so much chat at the moment that I want to join in with but I just don't feel like I can keep up! I mark some posts to reply to them, and then get to the bottom of the page and realise there's 3 more pages of posts to get through. By the time I reach the end, I think there's no point in replying because everyone else has already had their twopenneth! I think I'm feeling a bit left out - you'll have to slow down a bit so that slowcoach here can catch up :rotfl:
It was a masters degree in construction law, paid for by my employers and finished last September - feels like a lifetime ago so the graduation ceremony was really surreal. But better than coming to work :D

No matter how thrilling it is to get something that I've always wanted, there's always that feeling of loss afterwards - I think because I've lost the excitement that comes with the anticipation. I think the emptiness comes from not having it to look forward to rather than the getting it not being as good as you'd hoped. You just need something else to dream about in the moments when you can't enjoy the new stuff.

Hi all, Sonastin dont worry I feel a bit the same on here. I want to reply to everyone but thats impossible and sometimes there are so many different bits of chat going on that it gets a bit confusing. This has to be one of the few places on this website that doesnt get nasty sniping comments though and I enjoy reading it all!

Very very tired tonight. One area of our garden has been used as a dumping ground since our shed was storm damaged in January. Dad offered to come over today and blitz it with me. I am so grateful for his help - it needed someone objective to make me just get rid of stuff. So we got two big car loads of stuff to the tip and the rest tidied. It was really hard work though and I feel like a right wimp now because I am shattered!

Hubby was great about this garden clearance idea too because I asked him to pick out anything he definitely wanted to keep and there wasnt much. I dont think we would have done it without Dad though so I owe him a big favour.

Well done Cat, cleaning carpets is bloomin hard work so you should give yourself a pat on the back.

OK off to find something to do to stop me nodding off!!!
