pfft - that was more tiring than housework. I can take a damn good drink myself but someone with serious bipolar drinking 6 cans in the time you've drunk one and a half - it's really hard work :( To be fair if I was drinking vodka I'd have overtaken him - bless him....he was stone cold when he got here but it changes so quickly - anyway he's staggered off now, all the cans are away for recycling and once I've finished the dregs of this second can I'm going to make a nice cup of tea!! Fortunately I don't have any spirits in the house just now though I do have half a bottle of wine left....hmmm....:rotfl:

laurel - that's a scary amount of paperwork! Do I detect a holiday in the offing? :)

soworried glad nobody was hurt by the plate, never mind, like you say the floor is clean now, most clouds really do have a silver lining! :)x

    gilly, good work :)

hmm really should do the remaining dishes - in fact I will go and do them, will make me feel better in the morning :) eta done :)

Wow this thread moves fast atm - either everyone is on a serious de-messying kick or everyone is on a mission to avoid having to touch the mess :rotfl: I know I'm here for the latter reason.

Alec eiffel - totally get what you're saying about the process for washing but at the moment for us it is defnitely a case of too many clothes, too little storage. Should be getting some more space over the next couple of months but right now we're squished into a small space with a small wardrobe and a couple of chests of drawer - v. little dumping ground and not enough room to put everything away. Do too much washing in one go and some of it has to be stored in the dirty washing basket again :rotfl: I have a couple of suitcases of clothes upstairs that I haven't worn for nearly 2 years now. Not because they need throwing out but because I haven't had room to unpack the cases. When we get more storage, it'll be like having a whole load of new clothes to wear. If this was a permanent situation, I'd declutter but I kinda resent chucking away perfectly good stuff that I'll have room for eventually. But perhaps I should chuck out the stuff which isn't perfectly good and I never plan to wear again :D

For those that like a "proper" roast but struggle with the timing - I cheat by doing my joint of meat in the slow cooker. That way, the meat's cooking time isn't remotely critical. Much easier to get the potatoes and veg done at the same time than to try to prepare them in time to match a joint that's been on for an age already.

Haven't done a single thing today - had my graduation ceremony (attended purely for my mother's benefit :rotfl:) so went out about 11. Put laundry on an airer to dry in the middle of the kitchen while there was no one home but we haven't had a drop of rain since midday. Coulda got a couple of loads outside if I'd known  Hoping for a similar weather day tomorrow so gonna put a load in overnight - need to make sure we're all washed and dried before going camping at weekend :T

Oh Cat, why do you think I have to de-clutter? Need the room for books! Don't be sorry about being nosey :rotfl:Most people want to know if we have a loo and electricity.
No I don't live alone ( although I would have more space) 1 OH, 1 dog and 1 cat, we live on a marina, so pretty safe, gated, security guard at night, lots of neighbours. Trouble is the cost - our mooring fees are due to up could be paying at best 9 grand at worst 12!!
  • Eventually today I did manage to get my backside into gear and do something that's needed doing for months - empty, sort and tidy the sideboard in our living room. We keep gifts/cards/wrapping paper etc in the cupboard part of the cabinet as and when we get them for birthdays and Christmas. But for as long as I can remember the two little doors have been bursting at the seams, and whenever you open it you have to be ready to catch anything that might come tumbling out!

So today I emptied it, sorted it all into little piles, figured out what's what and put it all back in there very neatly. Now it's all taking up just over half the space it was before, and you can see what it all is! But just to be on the safe side, I've written a list of the cupboard's contents and stuck it to the inside of the door - complete with which gifts are for who, and when, and roughly where they are in the cupboard :)

Other than that, I've put last night's dishes away, washed the next lot and cooked dinner. So, bit of a lazy day, but I'm glad that cabinet got sorted - now we should be able to keep on top of it from now on :)

There's no such thing as 'only' a dog,(or any pet) in my book, what a massive loss for the family. Such sad news Kitty. Greyhounds... I just had a nice letter from Retired Greyhound Trust. I support them with a smallish monthly donation Apparently it costs nearly £800 to re-home a greyhound, so it must be a very thorough process.
Yes mcculloch, It is VERY involved (microchipping, transfer of ownership/KC club fees, spay/neuter, vaccinate, flea/skin treatment, kennelling fees/food/fostering, transport, and sometimes they have to buy the dogs from trainers) and some of the dogs are basket cases when they 'retire' so they need a dog psychologist and treatment. PLUS our local trust here 'recommend a donation' of £200 per animal (cough).
gotta go and sign on today, and return DS#2's school shoes to S@insubry's as they've fallen apart after 4 weeks!!!!
whilst I am up the city I'm going to have another look for a digital radio or maybe see what else I can spend my John Lewis and M&S vouchers on. it'll probably the boys' school uniform since DS#1 has seen fit to lose (or have lost for him IYSWIM) his indoor sports kit.

I'm wondering if it's that place with concrete (or are they fibreglass??) cows??

That must annoy people from there, there are probably lots of good things about it and that's the only thing that ignorant people like me know:o:o
    yes, you've got it.
Cat, they are concrete and there are two herds now.
One at their original place in Bancroft and another herd (exactly the same - I'm worried they are clones) in Midsummer Place shopping centre.

Doesn't bother us Milton Keynsians (we're all imports from other places), it's put us on the map - Junction 14 of the M1 - come pay us a visit it's really really easy to get around (man, I sound like the tourist board). :rotfl:
we are also known as the home of the roundabouts! because each of the grid roads (H & V) are linked by roundabouts. but it's SO easy to get around and not that easy to get lost (you can just go around the roundabout and come back on yourself if you go wrong)

When we can venture a bit further afield I would love to visit Milton Keynes. I love modernist architecture and I believe there's a really nice 1970's shopping centre there which sounds fab (although I can imagine lots of people hate it).

soworried you've done loads today!! Well done. I didn't wake up till nearly ten so all I've done is get dressed and have breakfast.

Just googled some photos of MK shopping centre, wow, I really like it, I'm particularly taken with the water feature though I'd find it hard not to jump right in!:D

Plans for today - just little bits of my bedroom I think....still feeling really CBA.

Hugs to kitty if she's about xxx
