Day off today - went Docbothering (what a lovely phrase and just how it feels sometimes). Now have the spectre of dreaded blood tests next Monday for all sorts including thyroid and anaemia :(

Knew I shouldn't feel so weary all the time....

Inspired by my visit here yesterday I have been slowly tidying and sorting my study (yes the dreaded paperwork) and now have a filing box which just contains things to file and a bigger box of envelopes enclosures etc.. to be recycled. Cut the mound down my 2/3.

Dusted, swept and now sorting out final bits on my desk - and have even found THE DESK :j

    Have to take breaks to
    1. Read my book
    2. Go and check on beaky the chick who hatched on Thursday
    3. Make sure Simpkin the 3 week old chick has food and water
    4. Copious cups of tea

As you can see I can still find more reasons not to tidy than to do it!! (I think I lack the housework gene entirely).
Have a good day fellow messies xx

Do you mean that there was actually a desk under all that lot, soupdragon? ;) I think we can all make excuses why we don't clear up - that's why a lot of us came on here in the first place.

I now have most of my current card-making materials in a plastic box, although I could do with a bigger box. I hasten to add, that's not because there's too much stuff, but the papers ahve to be kept flat, and the box isn't big enough, even if I put thme in side on.

Sorry to hear your DD's poorly, farmerswife, but at least you get some well-deserved time almsot to yourself.

Have done a tiny bit of ironing (have to whisper, cos Emms doesn't approve! ;)), and sorted out appropriate colours for a pool table birthday card for DD2's bf. Have put away this morning's washing-up, cleaned the bathroom, cleaned hob and neigbouring work surface. Loaded the WM last night, but didn't bother to switch it on this morning, as the weather's foul today, so couldn't put washing out to dry, and pointless putting it in the conservatory as there's no warmth to dry it there, either. :(

Stupid as it is, but worried about DS who does his first security shift tonight at the Olympics.

He is away for 10 days to start with, staying somewhere really nice so no need to be concerned about that, but worried he will be driving whilst tired. Just arranged AA cover through Quidco, he has not broken down in the first year of driving so hope I haven't jinxed him now.

Log basket now cleared of paper carp, full of sticks to stop me using it for `filing` again. Am achy now though, so no more today till I do supper (stir fry)
Soworried - IRONING? (said loudly) I only use an iron to press a new seam or that sort of thing. Otherwise not necessary IMHO, a waste of time & electricity - just keeping clothes crease free in the first place (rolled, not scrunched) and not overpacking WM, not leaving stuff in WM after it stops... works well enough for me!
    Have a nice evening folks.

    Well one hour in

WM - loaded and put on timer for overnight
DW - emptied and put away
    Lounge and hall hoovered

OH is at his golf lesson, so dinner tonight is rubber chicken curry with homemade veg rice, onion bhaji and veg samosa.

Going to start that after Come Dine With Me on C4+1

Some ironing later if I can be asked. Sorry Emms have never mastered the art of not ironing, but do have a steam generator so doesn't take long.

Also need to do some holiday planning - Cornwall with the OH and the dog, definite plans are Minack Theatre for a Shakespeare performance, Eden Project and Flamingo Land using clubcard vouchers :money:
Possible plans are mackerel fishing, Polzeath, Sennen Cove, but as for everyone this year all plans depend on the weather

Have a good evening all, will let you know later if the ironing gets done

Just sorted can cupboard in kitchen throw bag of stuff out :(

Was so annoyed at the thought of that money wasted that I wrote a list of everything in the cupboard including expiry dates and stuck it on the inside of the door. I highlighted the ones that are going to run out in the next two months so I know what needs to be eaten first. So pleased with myself going to do freezer next :)

Good to hear that things are still going well for you! ;)

I can understand your worries about your DS, gilly, but if he's a sensible young man, he'll be fine, I'm sure. Holiday plans sound good. I've wanted to visit the Minack theatre ever since I saw Neil Oliver acting there. Sadly, although the Cornish scenery is likely to be fantastic, I doubt he'd be there again to add to it!

Sad about the food, faith. We have a huge food cupboard, but it's often half empty, so things very rarely go out of date. We do have to keep an eye on the kitchen freezer, though, because leftover bits and pieces tend to get put in there, and then they're passed over. After a while, we tend not to see them. The two garage freezers are used for longterm stuff like fruit, veg and ice cream.

He was down in St.Ives on holiday a couple of weeks ago, my mate texted me to say she wanted to stroke his hair!!!
