Buttercup, I first read your storage boxes as 321 :o and, apart from the fact that's an awful lot, I did wonder how anyone could find THAT much space! The woman didn't steal my shot, as she was running down the road, I'd guess to the next photo opportunity in the square. She may have been press, for all I know.

Itchyfeet, I'm glad you were able to treat yourself to something special. I hope you enjoy your meal.

Re the photo, we'd been in town (Yarmouth is a VERY small place) for 2 hours, which included lunch, to make sure I got a good position to take photos. I'm not naturally a violent person, so punching her wasn't my immediate reaction, but I very nearly cried. :( Ridiculous, isn't it?

Every sympathy. Ours was June 17th. I was only stood for 40 minutes (o.k., sat on trike) and was really short-tempered with a young lad who stood in front of me with 2 minutes to go. Which is not like me.. He moved! :D

Then when the torch came past, the bearer was being pushed in a wheelchair with torch escorts walking directly alongside neatly blocking pictures. You can see the chair pusher in the pic, the escort and an arm holding the torch, though I also got a rear-view shot with torch visible. :o
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

Yes, Sonastin, I saw the torch, being carried by an older man (probably about my age, tbh) with a huge grin on his face.:) Shame the sun didn't shine for a bit longer today. The convoy arrived on the ferry (how much must that have cost??!!) in the sun, and I suspect only lasted long enough for the trip up and down the Needles chairlift.

Think I'm going to bed early to read for a while.

    Hi everyone

We saw the Olympic Torch in June and managed to get a really good spot. It was a lovely day too and I was glad we went.

Nice and sunny here but not too warm - it really doesnt feel like July. Still they are saying its going to get better in a week or two.

We have made the big decision to get a dog and I am so excited! I have always wanted a dog but hubby wasnt keen. Now he thinks it will be good for myself and my son to get us out more and give us something to keep us busy. In fact he found the dog on a rescue centres website and I think it was just meant to be. We all fell in love with him straight away.

I have just had to take photos of the main rooms downstairs for the rescue centre as they dont routinely do home visits. I hope they dont mind a bit of clutter around the place!

Well going to hang some washing out now and potter about. DS and his Dad have gone out for a bit so its very peaceful.

Have a relaxing Sunday everyone x

    Afternoon Messies.

How lovely, YL! Maybe it's something that'll bring a smile to your DS's face, I hope so. I've always wanted a dog, too and we thought, once we moved here, we'd get one. We put it off because our cat is elderly, but I doubt very much that we'll get a dog now, after all. Our house and garden are very small, and we do like our gardening. That's not to say that it's spotless, because it's very wildlife friendly, but the grass is grazed by the guinea pigs, so a dog isn't a great idea, really.

Not much de-messying today, with church this morning, and we're taking Mum out later to see if we can find a chair for her conservatory.

Right, must go and cut some flowers before it pours, as it looks as if it's going to. :(

    Hi All

You are all doing so well, twice this weekend I have typed a long message but it got lost, so trying again

I finally got a this week diagnosis for my gynae condition and have to have an emergency hysterectomy but Consultant has said that as he is 98% sure there is no cancer I can have my holiday in Cornwall - all I need now is some sunshine please.

This gives me two weeks before the holiday to get my a*se in gear and get some decluttering done.

Going to use the SoWorried method of one thing an hour, building up to more.

    So far today

1 - Unloaded WM and hung on line to dry, second load put in
    2 - Ironing yesterday's washing
3 - Made Spanish Omelette for this week's work lunches
4 - Clean clothes put away

Having a cuppa and some time on here

5 - Going to make some flapjacks and traybake for DS to take with him to work - he is at the Olympics doing nights so some homemade goodies while he is away

    Have a good day all

Hi Gilly. Great news about your health. Let's hope the weather improves a lot for your hols, so you can boost yourself up for the op. Great idea to use soworried's method - it seems to be working for quite a few people. :)

    Hi Messies!
Yorkshirelass, I`m SO pleased for you - and for the dog! Every dog I`ve ever had has been someone else`s `reject`, and I`m always delighted to hear a needy dog has found a good home, as well as to hear that a dog-lover finally gets to have a dog!!
Itchyfeet - a belated happy birthday to you. Re the ex- you are now free to find someone nice! Hope you are as successful getting rid of the ants - I`m pretty insect-friendly on the whole, but I can`t be doing with ants!
Buttercup - I`m another for the `cooking rather than cleaning` crowd. I also mis-read your post about the storage boxes and thought you`d got hundreds of `em!!
Cat - glad you had a good holiday (apart from the weather!) and how lovely to be able to come home & go on a little spending spree. I couldn`t wish it for a nicer person, enjoy your indulgences!
SoWorried - hope your day out goes well.
Bearcub - shame about your photo - I`m not that exited about the Olympics etc., but I do deplore the way some folks just barge in front of everyone else at events where lots of other got there first. I`d be inclined to print out the blurry woman`s photo, enlarge it, and throw darts at it!!
Well done those who`ve been doing stuff, however little it seems.
AlecEiffel, I read your post about being a reformed Messy and hoarder, so I can understand how you must be motivated to keep on top of things now, I just think it`s really great of you to post here and encourage folks, living proof that it IS possible!

    My Messy status?
Not good. Came home from work yesterday with a pulled muscle (I think)
so not feeling very handy at all.DGD has been a little ANGEL - she who is the Messiest of Mares, has washed up last night`s pots AND she`s fed the WM and emptied it under supervision 3 times, and helped with the hanging and folding too. So far, it`s a good drying-outside day, no rain forecast either (but they`ve been known to be wrong!)
OH has put the bins out for tomorrow, poo-picked and re-filled all the birdfeeders.
I`ve done very little other than direct the proceedings...

Gilly - I`m glad you`ve got your diagnosis and can soon get it sorted. That must be a relief, so you can enjoy your holiday first. And isn`t it a PAIN when you`ve typed all you want to say and then it gets lost!!! I`ve done a few of those myself.
Bearcub - I just read about your guinea pigs grazing your lawn, then looked out of my window - had to giggle at the thought of trying that here - you could lose several wild boars out there, even after Strimmer Man`s recent efforts!

Thanks Emm. I thought I'd better explain myself as there is nothing worse than someone who is naturally tidy coming along and saying "just get it done" because it doesn't just click like that when you're messy does it? But things really can change and you can maintain things. Yes, there will be mess at times but it will be minutes not days to get it sorted. I'm pretty evangelical about it, so many people helped me so it's nice to be able to talk about it and let other folk like me know you can deal with the stuff, it might not ever be "natural" but it can be easier.

Hi everyone. Its another sunny day here so lots of noise from the park. Its like having an extended garden as its right oppisite our house.
Yorkshire lass Im sure getting a dog will give your family a boost. Im glad that your getting a rescue one.
Gilly hope the op goes well and your back fully fit and well.
Today Im not sure of what Im going to tidy. The dog had me up in the night wanting to go out several times. Day has been iggly piggly.
    I need to;
    clean out the bird cage
    tidy the family room;
    brush the floors
    sort the washing
That will keep me busy if I motivate myself.
Emm have you got any firey Jack in its fantastic for pulled muscles . Hope you feel better soon.
