Well so far i've put a load of washing on, sorted out the recycling and watched Country House Rescue. Now i'm off to collect my bday pressies that have been left for me. :D

Have as happy a birthday as you can manage in the circumstances, Itchyfeet. What awful timing with the split-up. <hugs> I assume it is truly terminal?

Well, the torch cavalcade was splendid, if a bit oversized for the narrow lanes in Yarmouth. icon_lol.gif I took lots of photos then, as people on the corner gave us an indication that the torch bearer was on his way, I focussed my camera. The torch came into sight, and I clicked the camera - to have some STUPID woman carrying a very large camera pass between the torch and me. All I got was a blurred shot of the woman and, by the time I turned to take another photo, the torch had gone round the next corner. I tore round the block to the next road but the crowd was at least 4 deep, and there was no way I was going to get a photo. I could have cried, I was SO angry! icon_evil.gif I just hope that one of the people from church I saw there got one.

At least you got your DVDs, Cat. DD1 still hasn't received her car insurance documents, her Graze box, birthday present from her sister, or her Co op vouchers, that she should have received at least a week ago, and considerably more in some cases. Her birthday card from her GM disappeared a couple of weeks ago, too. She's only received a standard email reply to her complaint, from Royal Mail, so she's going into the sorting office on Monday, to request that they search for her post and, if not, she'll be contacting the Police and the local paper.

Have put away last night's washing-up, and dried washing. Also cleaned the hob.

Thanks Bearcub - the relationship was never great and last night i just realised how much i'd had enough. Been a bit down today but have treated myself to a couple of new tops and some jewellery. It is my birthday after all! :D

Glad you had a good day - i do feel for you with the missed photo op though. I bet you wanted to punch the woman.

On the demessying front, i've stripped the bed and dusted and tidied in the lounge. Just need to remake the bed now.

SoWorried - will you be going on the rides at Flamingoland or just watching the kids? My DD is an only child so I always accompanied her on big rides if we didn't take one of her friends along. I hid the fear well, lol.

AlecEiffel - Chilli wreaths are a new one on me so I must investigate that. I have also done the courgette thing; and the marrow thing when left for a few days too long. I swear courgettes are part of the triffid family!

ItchyFeet - hope you're managing to enjoy yourself despite the ex. Did you get your present from him before he disappeared from the scene?

Cat - I think you've misread my post. I bought 3 boxes; each has a capacity of 32 litres. They have now made their way into my bedroom so one more flight of stairs to go tomorrow. I think you should return a lot of stuff, then get it redelivered over an extended period. In this way you'll get lots more visits from fit postie. Repeat at regular intervals, lol.

Bearcub - what a disappointment. Pity you couldn't have confiscated StupidWoman's camera since she stole YOUR shot. Hope your daughter gets her stuff, it sounds like they have a tealeaf in the system when that much stuff disappears. I also braved the hob today. I'm going to clear a couple more feet of worktop before I allow myself some baking time.

Buttercup, I first read your storage boxes as 321 :o and, apart from the fact that's an awful lot, I did wonder how anyone could find THAT much space! The woman didn't steal my shot, as she was running down the road, I'd guess to the next photo opportunity in the square. She may have been press, for all I know.

Itchyfeet, I'm glad you were able to treat yourself to something special. I hope you enjoy your meal.

Re the photo, we'd been in town (Yarmouth is a VERY small place) for 2 hours, which included lunch, to make sure I got a good position to take photos. I'm not naturally a violent person, so punching her wasn't my immediate reaction, but I very nearly cried. :( Ridiculous, isn't it?

I need to make my self do something and not give in to it.

Soworried - this is how I eventually conquered my depression. I spent so long faking it and acting like there was nothing wrong that eventually I even managed to fool myself. It still creeps back every now and again but instead of letting it take hold, I remind myself that all those little things that I can't face when I'm down will build up while I'm letting myself be depressed and they'll still be waiting for me when I come out of it again. So I might as well just get on and do them anyway so that recovering doesn't become such a chore in itself!

It sounds ever so trite when you're stuck in the mire that mental health issues bring - the words are a little bit too close to "pull yourself together" but the intent really isn't a callous as that. More like "pretend you're pulling yourself together until you feel well enough to actually pull yourself together"! It might not work for everyone but it certainly worked for me. Needs to be combined with professional treatment if things are really bad though - I certainly needed drugs to start me on the road to recovery.

Have managed to do 3 loads of washing today - must get load 2 in off the line and put load 3 into the tumbly drier - sure it must be finished by now. Felt the urge to clean the bathroom but OH sent me on a wild-goose-chase to B&Q instead. Kitchen isn't too bad so I think that's enough de-messying for today. Not doing anything tomorrow. We're going to be out ALL day - overlap between planned events and friends birthday so we're gonna have one of those manic never-actually-spending-time-at-home days. Going back to work on monday will be a rest in comparison.

It's been raining quite a lot here today, Sonastin, so there was no chance of getting washing on the line. Having said that, though, I've been out of the house so much, that washing wouldn't have got hung out anyway. You've obviously had much better weather. I hope you have an enjoyable day tomorrow, if a little manic.

No more de-messying, but I have finished three birthday cards - two to be handed over tomorrow, and one to be posted on Monday. I have one still to make for DD2's bf, but can I find the pattern for something I want to put on it? Hmpf, NO!

Thanks bearcub. We've had the odd shower here but no significant downpours. Makes a nice change. I find that I'm actually missing the drizzle - very bored of the torrential rain now! Did you manage to get sight of the torch even if you didn't get a photo?

Happy birthday itchyfeet. Sounds like you've treated yourself to a bit of new found freedom. Hope it works out for you. Better to be single than stuck in the wrong relationship.
  • Itchyfeet - happy birthday!!

I baked this morning, put washing out, made lunch and then took the girls to tennis. Weather been quite good today.

Going to do a big tidy up tomorrow, i've told the kids that they've got an hour to pick up anything they've left lying around and then i'm going to put it all in a box. When they want any of it back they will have to do a little job/chore to get it!!

    Jx
