Hello all!!
Hope everyone is ok today! I started my xmas prep today, made some marmalade for the little hampers that i give as gifts. Then i made a double batch of chocolate cookies to last over the weekend so that i don't have to bake again till monday. This aft i've finished another cross stitch that i've done for a friend so i'll need a trip to the framers sometime nxt week!
Bearcub - yes i did see your info on the horses!! I had a half share in a horse until last year (things did't work out with me and the other sharer!), i'd love to get another horse but as it is i can't really afford it at the moment! I miss spending time with my horse, i always found that he was a very good listener!
jxIt's a farmers life for me......:j0 -
Oh bear cub Im so gealous you live on the coast, it's my dream one day too do the same, be a big help for my health

Thanks, Cat. I'm sure if you tried, you could be very creative, not necessarily making cards, but most people are creative in some way - you just have to try things. You're doing remarkably well with your sorting out. No stopping you now, is there?

Farmerswife, I know what you mean about horses being good listeners, although Boysie's always trying to find out if you've got treats, rather than listening.
:)
Isis, it was 16 years between us having the idea of moving here, and actuall getting here; complicated, but right for all sorts of reasons. It's about 15-20 minute walk to the nearest bay, about 8 minutes by car, and the river is close by. Our cul-de-sac is surrounded by farmland and, living on such a small island, the sea is never far away. We don't take it for granted at all - we consider ourselves very blessed. I hope you get your wish one day in the not too far distant future. No, consider changing to Asda. As I understand, they're cheaper than Tesco, and Tesco need shooting - horrible arrogant company. Can you tell I don't like them much? :rotfl:0 -

Oh I detest them too, there's too many stores around and I used to work for them years ago, had to leave due to I'll health :-s
Will never suggest any of my girls work there especially while there is still bullying staff working there.
We won't move now though till our girls have grown up, all settled in school and got friends so don't want to disrupt that, fingers crossed once they've all gone uni or something we will do and hubby can look after me :-)
Anyway got the hubby home for next 5 days so with he help we're going to get this house spotless (hahahahahahaha) though he first has to bleach the back patio that flooded yesterday, ewwwwwww lovelyI love War Of The Worlds:heart2:

thanks bearcub - a cheap but very drinkable bottle of white wine from Mr A is stopping me now, but I'll make a pledge to do the remaining THREE boxes (yes I managed another one!) before Monday

Also a pledge to find 20 books I can take to the charity shop. That's going to be hard!!
I found something tonight which shamefully I'd forgotten about - at least, I'd forgotten what was written inside. It's a card from DD1, must have been when she was around 12/13 going by the handwriting inside, with a small cross-stitched panel on front saying "MUM" and inside it says "just a card to say thanks for being a great mum". I can't have been all bad after all
I prefer Mr A for my shopping, sometimes I come out of there not having spent as much as I think I have, which never happens at any other supermarket!
My big dream is to live in the country - I'd like the sea to be very near at hand though
Can't wait to get down to Devon next week!!:j:j:j:j 0 -

There you go, then! One tiny boost for your morale.:) Whereabouts in Devon you going? I take it it's somewhere in the south?
Isis, we had to wait until our girls had gone through secondary school - DD1 was due to start the year after we first had the idea of coming here. As it was, eventually DD2 left home, my best friend moved here (her son married an island girl), then DD1 left home and moved to Portsmouth for her job. Nothing to stop us then, except it was sad leaving DD2 behind. I imagine your patio is quite disgusting. Best of luck to your OH!0 -
It's a small town in East Devon called Budleigh Salterton bearcub, famous for being mentioned a little disparagingly in an episode of Blackadder!! But I love it and the whole surrounding area to bits, wish I'd never moved back to Glasgow!0

I'm a messy.
Problem is there's so much 'stuff'
I joined the decluttering thread and got rid of over 100 items this week.
and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Hello messies, haven't been posting but have been reading (apologies for that, and thanks for your posts that keep me going!)
I'm tackling the garden today, not doing too bad. So far the rain has kept away, and I've mowed a bit of the lawn and am doing bits of weeding and potting up as I go along.
I've got a load of washing on the line and another almost done to go out, there's a good breeze up so I'm hopeful for one more load!
My hay fever is terrible today. This year has been much worse than the last 5 or so years.
Messy update... house is still dreadful, and the rooms of doom upstairs are still in the same state. I will start on them this summer hols though... three more weeks and counting till we break up!!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Afternoon Messies.
Welcome, tattycath, and lots of 'stuff' seems to be pretty common on here. Trouble with 'stuff' is that it's difficult to see past it at times; it totally blocks your perpective on your home, cleaning and life generally. (I really should have taken up psychology.
) As someone on here (sonastin maybe?)reminded us recently, remember baby steps!
Cat, I've been to Budleigh Salterton, many years ago now, but I remember it fairly well. We used to take a lot of holidays in East Devon - stayed on a farm near Axminster. I didn't realise you were actually a Devon girl. What a shock to the system that must have been when you moved to Glasgow!
Good to see you again, jps. Hay fever seems to have been worse for a lot of people this year. I know a couple of others who can't wait for the end of term, and I remember the same feelings, even though I had to go into the school a couple of days in the summer holidays. The school was always so much nicer without the kids!
:)
Have sold a fair amount of fairtrade goods this morning, set the WM going before I went out, and all is now hung out to dry. I've printed out a lot of paperwork for a meeting tomorrow, and shall be washing the kitchen floor this afternoon when OH goes out. I should have done it on Thursday, but I never got around to it.0
