My home is a mess

Since last posting I've: finished decluttering the boxes, found my 20 books to give to charity (that almost killed me), bagged up an old coat, double duvet cover and pillow cases for recycling, cleaned the toilet, and done a miracle transformation on the kitchen sink with ammonia Stardrops and a Brillo pad! More amazingly, the combination took off a bad stain on the worktop which has been there for goodness knows how long and had refused to budge with anything else!:j
Emm enjoy your time off, especially the pub trip!!

Busy busy busy! I'll get back on later and post properly!
eta also phoned my friend who is 45 today and played "Happy Birthday" by Altered Images down the phone to annoy him
Had a good half hour chat, I've really neglected him recently and I feel so much better now

No, this can't be the Cat of old, surely?
Well done, me darlin', you're doing the Messies proud!
If I was to throw out 20 books, I'd not have many left and, since most of my books are wildlife, history or craft, they're mostly reference anyway. I do occasionally clear out my craft materials, though. They go down really well on Freecycle.
Vacuuming done, just need to dust a bit before Mum comes over later. The weather looks lovely through the window, but it's not too comfortable out there with ther strong wind.

Well done on the cleaning Cat - you sound soooo much happier!!!
Have changed our sheets, all washed, dried and back on the bed. Done some decluttering in the utility room and the kitchen drawers. Another load of washing is out on the line and I have put a chicken in the oven for tea. Going to clear out and clean the built in wine rack in the kitchen, I know that its all crumbs and bits in there, even though you have to really look to see the mess!
And hey, its not raining for once! Really hoping OH can get on and do some work tomorrow as he keeps getting rained off. Forecast isnt great though.0 -
I can understand your frustration, YL. DD2's bf is a builder, so he finds it so difficult (so does DD2!) when he can't work. Luckily, he doesn't just do building, though, but it's annoying when he can't get a job finished because of the weather.0

Thank you bearcub, thank you YL! I'm glad your DS is feeling a little better, if only physically
Perhaps in time, feeling better physically might have a bit of a positive impact on the depression? I hope so anyway!
x Well done on a very productive day so far!
The books are SOOO hard to get rid of, you'd think out of a couple of thousand finding 20 truly carp ones would be easy!!
It's dry here too:j But yes, apparently it's not going to last....:(
I've thought of another incentive for this decluttering/cleaning - going on holiday! I always had a dread of being burgled, not for what they might take but the humiliation of it! So having all the rooms except the kids ones clear (not bothered about them, they're meant to be a tip and aren't my responsibility!) will be a weight off my mind!
Found another couple of things to take to the clothing recycling bank, it's just up the road so I took the bags up when I went to the shops. I did buy some more cleaning wipes, carpet cleaner and glass cleaner while I was out but in my defence it was all very cheap and I only had about an inch of glass cleaner left. I'd never have known that if I hadn't decluttered the cleaning cupboard last week:rotfl:
Having said that I've just remembered that I bought glass cleaning wipes in HB last week. Oh dear.....:o
I've made a list of things to do tomorrow but so far it's all phone calls, forms to be filled in and sent, prescriptions to be collected - all things which need to be done before we go away

Helloo!!
not much to report here, weather is still pants and mr farmer is not happy at all!! Did loads of washing today, put towels in the drier and the rest is drying in various places round the house! Had a lovely time at the christening this afternoon, just a shame we had to leave early to come home and milk the cows!!
Dentist appointment for a scale and polish 1st thing tomorrow, then a quick visit to the bakers and i will hopefully remember to take the recycling into town too then i'll have some room in my pantry!
Hope everyone has had a nice weekend!!
JxIt's a farmers life for me......:j0 -
You're a farmer's wife, and you're still up at this time?! How?! Ah, and a dairy farm. I have friends who are dairy farmers, but possibly not for much longer. Glad you had a good day. Sleep well.0

Glad you enjoyed the christening FW

Final Sunday report - tea made, washed up, kitchen windows cleaned, bag of paper shredded, 10 more books (old kids annuals mostly) and one bag of clothes for charity/recycling, other odds and ends binned/rehomed, maybe a quarter of the way through sorting HUUUUGE pile of clothes on my bedroom floor (mostly kids stuff).
And still so much to do...:rotfl:
Oh well ....off to bed to read Kim 'n' Aggie books for inspiration
Hope everyone has had a good weekend

Morning Messies!
Wow, some of you have been busy - and Cat, you`re a proper Inspiration you are! I have some catching up to do, but I can`t decide where to start...
Pub evening was nice yesterday, did a nice supper after (roasted a YS duck crown, swede mash with MICROWAVED swede/frozen mash, and a spring cabbage with onion & ham bits that needed using up, HM gravy with the duck stock & cabbage water - all decided on`spur of the beery moment`.) Left the kitchen in a bit of a mess though.
Up early this am, had to take the car in (brakes & a shock absorber)
So am now Grounded till the garage rings me... can`t go too far from phone, and do noisy or outdoor stuff.
So far I`ve done a bit -
blitzed the kitchen (except floor, pointless)
put bins out.
one load in WM.
Hope others are having a productive day...
Drags self off to drape wet clothes in doorways...0 -
Emm your post-pub dinners always sound so delicious!

Not long up this morning and feeling just a little CBA, feel like I have a cold coming....not good timing! Really going to have to push myself today. Not long up so all I've done is take a couple of rubbish bags down to the bin.
Not sure if tennis will be on today if the forecast is right - might be a good thing if it isn't! We're going away on Wednesday now so the pressure's on to get things done:eek:
ETA 3 years and I still keep forgetting about the roof on Centre! Yippeee!!0
