    Afternoon Messies.

Cat, as Emms said, you are an inspiration, and it seems to have picked you up no end! :) Sorry to hear you feel a bit 'off' today.

Emms, I'm glad you enjoyed your pub outing. You are obviously a good cook, and are very inventive. Do these ideas only come after a pub visit? ;)

It's been tipping down here all morning, and I can't make up my mind whether to wash the porch floor or not. It does have a mat on some of it, so I shall I just wash the surrounding areas? Hmm. I'm just going to wash the rest of the porch down, though, as the inside of the roof, being transluscent, shows every step spiders or flies have made.

I've taken the loaf out of the BM (OH set that going earlier). No point in doing washing as there are only towels to do in any amount, and I've nowhere to dry them atm. I could put them on the drier in the conservatory, but it's not warm enough to dry them off other than VERY slowly.

Cat - is it THIS Wednesday? Be stern with yourself now, you do NOT have a cold, aren`t going to have a cold now - drink some chicken stock cubes and keep thinking positive.....
Bearcub, I cook and get experimental or creative simply because I like to eat, and because OH is such a dear he`ll try anything once! I may be more spontaneous after ale...but I`ll take ideas from anywhere! My weirdest one lately is the Archers(Radio 4), when the Vicar said he`d make his daughter a `sweet potato curry`. No recipe given, but I thought it sounded nice so made up my own - it`s now one of my staples!
    Messy-wise -
Got the car back, shook LR rugs outside in the rain, dumped them in launderette, apologised to launderette lady for the aroma...everything smells of damp Daftie-dog here, especially the damp Daftie herself, and after shaking the rugs so do I. I`ve Henry`d LR & kitchen, LR floor not bad so put clean rugs down. It looks better, like I spent hours in here.
Off for a quick shower now to rinse the dog hairs off myself...

Flippin' 'eck snookey!!!! That's AWESOME, where are you finding the energy?????:T:T:T

As always thanks to everyone for the support and encouragement! xx I do NOT have a cold (though my ex-sister in law just phoned for a chat and the first thing she said was "ooh you sound full of the cold" :D)

Yes Emm, this Wednesday! *gulp*!! I've done everything I HAVE to do before going - just some more decluttering to do :)

I've done all the phone calls, form-filling etc I had to do, and just had a long chat with DD2 on the phone. I think we've sorted a few things out :)

eta I love sweet potatoes, I think I'll give that curry a try! :)

Snookey, that`s brilliant! Lovely that your DS did his room without being asked, too. It is demoralising when you have to nag or plead for household members to do their bit, but it`s so encouraging when they just do it!
Cat, well done you. I really hate form-filling, I tend to put off stuff like that as long as possible. I`m glad you &DD2 are talking, that long chat sounds helpful. I hope the weather improves for your hols, but Devon is lovely even in the rain!
Off to launderette now to reclaim wet rugs...

I'm so pleased about you and DD2, Cat. :T I assume you don't want to come back to a messy house, is that it? Actually, having a reasonably tidy and clean house before you go, will hopefully give you the 'Well, it's not so bad, really' attitude when you return. <hugs> to you.

Emms, I like food, too, but although I was good enough at cooking, I was never very keen. As it is, my appetite has got smaller, and I've got fussier, the first not being a problem, as I like to keep my weight under control. I'm only just what is considered a healthy weight, and I'd like to keep it that way. OH puts sweet potato in our curries, too, sometimes. Very nice done that way.

Snookey, that's a really impressive list of achievements. AND an appointment to get to? And I thought I'd done well.

I've washed down the inside of the porch AND the floor plus, when the rain stopped for a minute, I also washed the outside of the front door and its frame. While I was on a roll, I washed the kitchen window frame and the window sill. That may not sound a big deal, but the window is big, and the LHS is accessible only by me climbing on a stool then onto the work surface. I then tackled the horribly stained double sink and drainer, which OH usually cleans (and said he keeps meaning to do, when he came home and saw that I'd done it). Thank goodness for Barkeepers Friend and an old toothbrush. (PLEASE, don't anyone recommend Stardrops - can't get them here. :() Oh, and I've almost finished typiing out the minutes from yesterday's meeting.

Bearcub the housework was yesterday. Im now recovering from the shock, lol.
Your windows are like mine. I have to stand on the worktops to clean them, not that I do them often.
Sweet potatoes I love them may get some in the week.
Cat I hope that your holiday is fantastic. Iv never been to Devon but it looks lovely.
Its been raining on and off all day here. Its pretty warm though.
DD has had fillings in her baby teeth and some out on Friday. Her second teeth are okay thank goodness. Guilt riddled every time we go to the dentist.
Ill have to sort the bird cage out later as he has made a mess with the seed. He was talking away to himself last night. Has my voice off to a tee.
My dog was really calm last night so his hormones must have now fully dropped. He came in before wet through after a walk. Funny thing was he did not shake like most dogs. Mind you none of our animals do the normal things they are meant to. All quirky like their owners and mad.

No Stardrops on the IOW???:eek: Scandalous!!

I'm going to have to call it a night - I've packed all DDs clothes which were in my bedroom in a vacuum bag, taken stuff to charity shop, made tea, done a bit more shredding, washed up and WMx1, now I'm feeling carp!! So after I've hung the washing up to dry I'm going to collapse on the sofa and hope for a better day tomorrow!

Hugs to all and thanks again, hope everyone's had a good day :) xx

Can I pick the brains of cat owners? A very good friend owns a 14 year old disabled cat. She has part of a paw missing after a kitten-hood accident and has always limped. Lately her leg has become arthritic but friend is having problems getting her to take tablets (painkiller and anti-inflammatory) .

That's one problem, which he is hoping to solve with tuna, but the other is that she has started to wee on his chair - always on the same spot.

She doesn't have a litter tray, she goes outside, and apart from a penchant for peeing in plant pots within the house, she has always been clean.

What is she trying to tell him by wetting on his chair? Anyone any ideas?

Well, I've not been able to find Stardrops here, Cat. We don't have an Asda here, which is the obvious place. Someone on another thread said that Poundland sells them - not here, they don't. As far as I know, neither Sainsbury nor Waitrose sell them and, even if Tesco sold them, I'd rather be arrested for crimes against Food Hygiene, than give them my money. So, it seems the only way to get some is to order online, and I'm not willing to do that, without trying them first. Catch 22 situation.

Ah, Snookey, I hadn't realised that the work was yesterday. :o It was very impressive, anyway. Shame about your DD's teeth.

McCulloch, a cat will usually wee in a different place because it believes that another cat has been there, which is odd in this case. It does tend to happen more as they get older - a crisis of confidence, perhaps. We used to have cats that were a brother and sister, and no problem sharing a litter tray, which was in the hall, at the bottom of the stairs. However, we got ourselves another very young female (the elderly cat we still have), and the original female started weeing on the carpet at the bottom of the stairs. It was as if she was warning the youngster to keep away from her area. Does your friend perhaps have a job or hobby that could leave a fairly strong smell on his clothes, and his cat is trying to warn off whatever it is? Does the cat sit on his lap?

My DD1 has problems with a cat peeing, and more, in a raised flower bed in front of her flat. She has a cat of her own, but he's never allowed out to the front, so the cat responsible must be warning off another in the neighbourhood. DD is desperately trying to persuade the unknown cat to go elsewhere!
