My home is a mess

Poor sparrow, not nearly enough of them around these days, sadly, laurel. Our cat's 19, and not particularly well a lot of the time. She's never been a bird hunter, and only once, years ago, did the cat thing of creeping up on birds. She chose two collared doves, who just sat and watched her get closer and closer. She kept looking back at us - not sure whether it was for praise or courage. When she was within 8' of them and they still hadn't flown away, her nerve gave out, and turned tail and fled indoors! :rotfl: Out of the 5 cats we've had, only two were hunters, and only one hunted birds; the other preferred mice. The bird hunter, a tiny female, also once brought home a very large Koi carp, larger than herself. We never found out who it belonged to, but we found it a good home, once we'd checked that it wasn't going to die from the shock of being half-dragged down our long garden path.
No de-messying today, as I was at a 'quiet day' all day - so restful, that I feel really tired. That's what we get when we stop! OH made a loaf in the BM last night and, despite washing up, didn't clean up the flour he'd sprinkled liberally over the worktop, so I did it when I got home. Bless him, though, for making the bread, so that I had fresh bread for today's packed lunch.0 -

Wish my smear test had gone like the one described but had knocked the smear test nurse out.

Good Morning x
Today I am determined to tidy and sort/shred the assorted letters and junkmail that seems to congregate on the side-board by the front door. I will also have to sort the dining table for lunch today.
What else? Well the piggies probably need a quick clean and tidy/ groom and my bedroom needs a dust. Oh the list is endless:rotfl:
Have a peaceful Sunday whatever you decide to do xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Hi I'm still reading but feel very low at the minute. My home is an absolute disgrace. I keep things just in case and I don't like throwing clothes away because one day I'll ebay them!!
I make lists of things that need doing and just look at it and don't know where to start. Nobody else in the house does anything but they used to!
I am embarressed to let people in and dread unannounced visits:eek:
I do tidy up and it looks really nice but soon gets back into a mess because eveyone just leaves things everywhere.
I thought that if I wrote oh here it might spur me onStarting to save £2 coins again, but it is a struggle:rotfl:Not doing very well keep spending them

I could have written exactly the same. It always seems to make me feel better if the hob and sink are clean so have done those this morning, and I did get the children to clean cupboard doors for 20p although that job appears to have been abandoned half way through.0 -
Oh MillyMolly, welcome - you are not alone here! Every word you`ve posted (except e-bay, I think charity shop as it`s simpler when/if I get around to it) rings a bell! I do lists and just look at them too. I get peed off because it`s only me who has to do everything...and when you DO stuff it slides back into a mess. Yes, I identify with that alright!
It does lift my mood when I get the place clean & relatively tidy though.
I suggest let THAT be the motivation...
"I`m tidying this/cleaning that TO CHEER MYSELF UP" - might sound selfish, but think "I`m doing this for ME!"
In fact that`s what I`m planning on doing today!0 -
Re Sparrows - we`re getting quite a few in the garden, birdfeeders are very busy just now, plus just saw a great tit taking nesting wool from the wooly mess hanging in apple tree...must be repairing or building a new nest.. (OH has just refilled the feeders because I refilled the feed containers in the kitchen from the store in the caravan - he can`t do that bit, for some reason)
Re my `Bee Hotels` - I`ve read online -www.wycombewildlifegrp.co.uk/masonbee.htm that my little lodgers won`t hatch till next spring, so I needn`t keep looking to check just yet!!0 -
Right then...
Messy Status report
Kitchen & LR both terminally cluttered. Both floors very hairy...I need to remove and shake rugs, hoover up the dust buffaloes, then mop (DS slops coffee when carrying mugs through, never notices or wipes up, then sticky patch develops, gets hairy. Him & Daftie-dog are the worst contributors to my mess.) I will put the rugs back `cleanest side up` - so glad I didn`t reverse them last week when I ALMOST felt like a clean-up!!
DS informs me that his girlfiend is coming this evening, staying a few days - that`s great, I get to do puddings when she`s here as nobody else but me & her wants puds! However, what I am about to do isn`t for her, or DS, nor for OH who doesn`t notice or complain about mess...
I`m going to do it for ME, because for once I feel like doing it!
Have a nice Sunday Messies!
Drags self off to find mop bucket...0 -
Wow! How long did that take? LR floor all clean, henry`d, mopped, dry, rugs shaken outside - neighbours must have thought it was snowing! rugs back in place(cleanest side up!) NOW I feel quite good! Awarding myself a coffee break, then going to tackle kitchen....0

:T Emms. When you make up your mind to clean, you really go for it, don't you? You see, you can do 'sudden' clean-ups, too!
Millymolly, maybe you could start with something quite small to clean/celar up? Maybe fold/put away your clothes, or clean the bath, or something else relatively small. Try NOT to look at the mess as a whole, as that will be self-defeating.
Since, for once, the sun's shining, and I have to go out later to help with a service at the local holiday centre, I'm taking the opportunity to go and deadhead some plants.0
