    Good Morning.
    Hugs for those struggling.
Many thanks for all the welcome comments.

I took a look at my dining room of doom. It will need to be cleared as the table is needed for lunch tomorrow for Father's Day. I have a thing for packaging salvaged from incoming parcels but realistically I wont use it all. Also my quilting and craft stuff. I am waiting on hubby finishing off the "Play Room" aka eldest son's bedroom (who has now left home). It had to be gutted

The other area that needs work is my bedroom as my clothes are everywhere. Again waiting on completion of storage in Play Room. It does seem to be taking forever but we are going to look at carpets later so hoping that the end is in sight.

I second the idea of "bitty-ness". It is the way to go for me. My cleaner will be here on Monday so superficially we will be clean. I have asked her to start doing some windows as we get doggy art smeared over them regularly. Ok so I feel a plan is emerging:T:T:T
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I have that problem too. And cat art, on the outside, where he paws at the patio doors begging desperately to come back in :D
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)
  • Morning Messies!

What crappy weather we're having today! I've lit my rayburn this morning, normally it doesn't go back on until September time but it's just too cold in the house without it at the moment!
I had a bit of a lie-in today, didn't get up till 8.30am & came downstairs to find that my darling son has a friend round so i've been frantically rustling up a decent lunch for us all. I've made a chicken & veg pie which we'll be having with potatoes.
As for the de-messying - it's not going well at all! Never mind!! I seriously need to iron today as we're all going out for lunch tomorrow for Fathers Day and my Mother will scowl all the way thorough lunch if we're looking creasy!
Better go and check on the pie.....................
    It's a farmers life for me......:j

Big ((HUGS)) to all of you whether in need of a hug or not!
Re the Smears - and all similar `ladies` examinations... I`ve had all sorts in the past, won`t go into gruesome detail, but having only managed to produce one offspring and hankering after more (before accepting facts then fostering & adopting) so my `untidy bits` have been thoroughly rummaged, scoped scooped and scraped over the years. It`s not nice, but neither are mammograms, and they save lives too!

Cat - sounds like the last thing you need now is the school social worker pestering - even if she IS only doing her job. Surely the school are aware of your son`s asthma problem already? If not, couldn`t you get something in writing from your GP surgery explaining his condition? It could be worth asking about this. And well done getting some bits done!

Sonastin - ((HUGS)) - your OH sounds so much like my DS!
Molly - `clothes everywhere` is one of my Big Problems too...

Reading here does cheer me up so much - I`ve been chuckling to myself this morning over Bearcub`s "I had a sudden clear-up this afternoon"
and FarmersWife`s "Mother will scowl all the way through lunch if we`re looking creasy". And Molly & DebtFreeChick, with your "dog art" and "cat art"! You Messies have a wonderful way with words!

Re the garden nostalgia posts - it`s not any particular garden that gets me, it`s just anytime I see a patch of garden completely overrun with Nasturtiums! When I was little our front garden was `supposed to be` peonies & carnations - and some big white stones. Nasturtiums came up all over the place, and my dad used to pull them up like weeds! I thought they were lovely, and hated the way dad despised hem!!! Ever since, I`ve tried to get them going in every garden I had but no luck, they just died off. Now, I`ve got a couple of plants coming up (from some seeds we were given in Ireland last year) and feeling hopeful again!

This is Day One of my holiday, but seeing as they wanted me to swap shifts and work today (I politely declined the invitation!!) I`m enjoying the day just NOT feeling like I should be busy! DS surrendered 3 pairs of jeans from his personal `grot-pile` last night, and I put them in WM while doing a curry for last night`s supper, hung them to dry in LR before going to bed, so I feel as if I`m slightly ahead anyway..
Going out with OH this afternoon, and I`ll enjoy some cooking later (dunno what yet!)
    And the MESS will keep...

    Hi messies :)

Poor you sonastin :(:(:( Hope you're feeling better today! I'd have been inclined to make yourself something to eat and s*d the OH but that's easy for me to say!! Were you even hungry?

Emm yes the school are WELL aware of DS's asthma, they've heard from his doctor, consultant. everything - I even got him a lift pass so he doesn't have to climb the stairs at school if he's feeling bad but he never uses it! Around a year ago we had to go and see some doctor connected with education - and she was quite ridiculous, suggesting that if he was ill at school I should go up there and sit with him until he was better, amongst other things....there was a lot more I can't remember. I'll try not to get angry bearcub - but of course I feel judged:o

I'm not long up to be honest - well after midday, things are slipping backwards badly! I did get up at 8.30, looked out at the weather, and went back to bed. Isn't it awful? I can't stand it :( Currently 10 degrees, very wet and windy here. I've just looked at the forecast from the 23rd-1st, and I so wish I hadn't, I could cry :(

Good luck with the nasturtiums Emm :)

I've done some dishes! That's pretty unusual for me to do something BEFORE sitting down at the computer. I will have to phone the Housing Association about the tap, if I had spare parts I probably would give it a go myself but there's no point putting myself out of pocket when it's their responsibility, AND it will make me get the kitchen respectable :)

No real plans for today except tennis watching :) There was a spider on the living room wall last night, not too big but I don't know where it is now, DS went to squish it and I'm pretty sure he missed and spider did a runner. I really wish I wasn't scared of them, it's a big obstacle to de-messying, especially clothes :(

    hugs to all xxx

I used to have a very snotty cat who decorated all the windows (and many of the walls ) with his sneezes.

My children are three years apart, so when they were both little, in combination with the cat we had three heights of nose art on the patio windows.

You know it's bad when the window cleaner offers to do the inside of the door as well...:o

Laurel that made me laugh. I used to go to work with baby sick on me. Not through choice just not having noticed. Kids.
Cat I sometimes wish that I could afford to educate my dd at home. Sometimes it feels as if you have little say in the way your child is brought up once they start school.
Emm good on you for refusing to swop shifts. Enjoy the rest.
Im just waiting for the outlaws to arrive.

    Rampant Recycler
On one of the other threads, someone reported that when they were having a smear done, the smear nurse was struggling to get the contraption in to place, but had just about succeeded.
Then someone tried the locked door into the room - the patient froze. The resultant muscle spasm shot the doobry out, getting it airborne and hitting the nurse in the chest.
The nurse laughed so much she had to ask someone else to take over and complete the smear.
I worked from home when my kids were small, as I do now (except it's a different job) so no 'wearing sick' tales.

However I once had to keep a jacket on in a really warm office, having failed to notice that my DGD had decorated a cream polo-neck with bright green felt tip pen.
The polo neck was top quality, so I was gutted but kept it to wear under round necked jumpers. Ten years on the marks are still there!

I am making filling the recycling bin a continuing priority, it's proving a brilliant de-cluttering incentive.
Clothing is a problem, all the spring/autumn wear is still in use and I genuinely wonder if it is worth getting all of my summer gear out this year.
I won't get it all worn for certain, as I shower daily, use anti-persp & lots of smellies, work from home and the house is more or less clean, I get three or four days wear out of clothes. I think washing wears stuff out far quicker than wearing.
I think the best bet for summer clothes is to get a selected dozen tops out with a couple of lightweight trousers and that will be it.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

    Afternoon Messies.

Cat, you're NOT being judged, it's just petty bureaucracy, boxes to be ticked. Bearing in mind the shortage of social workers and how much REAL work there is to do, you'd think they'd send her somewhere her presence is really needed, wouldn't you? <rolls eyes>

Good for you, Emms, not giving into pressure/persuasion. Have a GOOD week off. And it was a 'sudden clear up'. One of those times, when I cleared away one thing, and I just kept going. :rotfl:

Sonastin, sorry to hear you're feeling so rough. Your OH sounds a nightmare. Maybe it's time you thought of you first, and just forgot the occasional meal or washing for him, huh?

Mcculloch, I'm starting to get fed up with my summer clothes. I've had them for a fair time, but they get worn so little every year. I don't actually have many clothes, as our storage is limited.

Our cat used to leave nose marks on the windows, but she doesn't find jumping onto the window sills very easy these days.

It's very easy to underestimate our cat.

She caught a bird in front of my parents a couple of weeks back, but until she brought the poor little corpse into the kitchen, they didn't believe the black and white streak they'd seen was the tubby, leisurely feline they know.

And she's just caught another one. Admittedly, a particularly dim young sparrow who seemed to think she'd be safe on a bird feeder *two feet off the ground with a cat sitting openly beneath*. Sigh. We grabbed the cat, the bird flew into a cupboard, we emptied the cupboard, caught the bird in a cloth and took her outside, and she flew like a rocket out of sight. But there was blood-quite a bit of it for a sparrow, I would have thought-on the floor and in the cupboard. I hope she survives, but I doubt it :(
