Faith177 - Thanks for your kind words! I just re-read my post and realised that i hadn't put what sport she was playing!! Hahaha!! She's been picked for the under 10's county girls tennis team!! I am very proud! :j
I wouldn't worry about your neighbours, i live next door to my parents and my mother is a housekeeping legend, i'm sure she despairs about the state of our home!!
JxIt's a farmers life for me......:j0 -
Wow impressive and a young age too! (I can't play tennis to save my life lol)First Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0

lol at the stupids. Welcome faith, I'm new on the thread myself.
I have days where I feel like utter failure as a mum, wife and housewife. It's a vicious cycle because when I feel like that I don't have the motivation to do menial jobs like house work and that just feeds the very same feelings that got me in that mess to start with.
The smaller pants pies are still on my bedroom floor but it's progress. I'll do it tomorrow because tomorrow, when lil one is at nursery I'm going to clean and tidy our bedroom.
It's great getting the washing on the line too, all dried and hardly a crease in sight0 -
Fuddle thats what I should name my dog, stupid. His latest trick is to put his face to the side of the bird cage and let the Parakeet bite him !!!.
Faith its really mean of your oh and house mate leaving you to the housework. Id be saving to go on holiday and leave them behind, lol.
Iv spent most of today in my dads doing my washing. Thankfully the new machine is coming tommorrow. Goodness knowes whats behind or underneath the old machine. I bet there is a pile of odd socks, dust in balls and a long lost pet of some kind, lol.
Its been boiling here. I sat in my dads garden trying to get my milk bottle legs brown. I sat there like a little kid chalking pictures on his flags as I was so bored waiting for the washing to finish.
Farmers wife well done to your daughter.0 -
Fuddle - I know what you mean. On a really bad day I become convinced OH will leave me because of the mess. I have no social life (even with the two jobs lol) because I can't let people come in. If something needs fixing it'll stay broken cause I can't have people (in my mind) judging me it scares me to death.
Finding this page though has given me a boost which I needed tbh. I tackled the linen cupboard tonight. Completed it and learnt 3 things 1) there is a floor and a back in the cupboard 2) I don't need to shove everything back then quickly shut the door and hope nothing falls down & 3) I had 4 bags of stuff I don't need :rotfl:
As for the stupids their real names are Molly (my profile pic) & Codey. They had to be walked apart tonight which I hate doing as they hate being apart but they were too hyper tonight. Heyho meant a 4 mile walk for me in total :T and with my ever ending battle with my weight which I am also determined to get to grips with this year I'm sure it will help.
Snookey your dog sounds a character what breed? how old ect?
I had a new fridge a while back OMG when I moved the old one
SCARY suff!! Hope your tan turns out good (im not jealous lol)
As for housemate and OH it is unfair and I hate it but I have actually given up trying it is pointless but sometimes I could quite easily kill the pair of them (I would bash their heads together but there is no point )
I'm off to a festival in two weeks for a week and HM is under pain of death that the house is to be ok when I get backFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -

Last night I tackled the spare room or as it is otherwise know as the "dumping zone!" I threw out (please don't judge me on this) 6 black sacks of jeans! My OH was really pleased as this is his sancutary. His first comment though was ok great but how long is it going to stay like this. I felt terrible as I realised that everytime I tidy up within a matter of weeks it's back the way it was
I hope you answered him with "for as long as you keep it this way". Don't beat yourself up if he doesn't do his bit to keep the place nice!
Before we moved in together my OH had a lovely tidy house and I, erm, shall we say, had a life :rotfl: So obviously when we started living together all the mess must be mine. Except I realised when I looked round that actually, it was all his carp lying around the living room and my contribution to the mess was a small pile on the coffee table by the sofa. Ever since then, I've let his smart!!!!! comments about the state of the house wash over me (well, apart from the occasional rant on here) because I know that he's just as bad as me, if not worse.
If you're struggling to keep on top of things, focus on YOUR mess in YOUR sanctuary. Let him look after his sanctuary. And heck, if you're working 70 hours a week you're rarely home anyway so why worry about how it looks. When I used to be depressed about the state of my house, I used to just leave it - cup of tea at my Grandma's usually did the trick for me;)0 -
Hi Sonastin
Thanks for that
When he moved in with me he brought soooo much stuff with him it was a joke. I have two MASSIVE storage containers in my front room they have been there 3 years now and I think he has looked in one of the once but I'm not allowed to touch it.
Tbf it was mainly my stuff in there a quick succession in trips away for wedding planning and a break for myself meant bags of stuff where I hadn't got round to unpacking.
My place is the front room I spend hours hoovering and sorting stuff out for the stupid to destroy it as soon as my back is turned lol
I will get there but I think it's going to have to be all my doing which will make it all the more sweetFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
Hi all, welcome Faith and Fuddle.
Small steps is the way to go if you are finding it hard. I have been a devoted follower of this thread for a year and it is so comforting knowing I am not the only person in the whole world who has a messy home. I am a carer too so I am at home most of the time which makes me feel worse.
Just concentrated on one small job at a time and dont look at anything else until that task is done. Oh and give yourself big pats on the back for any small achievements cos chances are no-one else will!
I spent the whole day outside in the garden yesterday and was sooo tired when I got finished. Had a really good tidy up, did some weeding and cut all the grass. It does look better but there is still more to do.
Just put a load of washing on and going to have a dust and hoover upstairs next. DS2s bedroom is starting to look a bit messy again after we blitzed it a couple of months ago. Thats the trouble - its hard sometimes keeping on top of the bits of the house that you do manage to sort out (sigh).
Oh well at least the sun is shining so will get DS1 out in the fresh air for a bit this aft. Have a good day everyone.0 -
Hi Yorkshirelass
Yep small jobs cetainly seem the way to go tbh.
It's so simple i'm kicking myself for not thinking about it before. I have given myself until Christmas to get the decluttering done as this is way overdue I haven't thrown anything out i don't think since 06!
Once I have done this I will be able to sort the rest of the house out. I think I might hire a skip in a few weeks to empty the shed and sort the garden out. Plus I have hundreds of mugs, glasses, mis-matched plates ect in my kitchen that I really don't need.
Once i'm on top of it I can start on the DIY stuff and return my home to it's former glory (can't wait)
I've given myself till Christmas as I said but I think I can have it done before then but now i'm in no rush
Thank you all so much again for the first time I am feeling please about my homes futureFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0
