The pants mountain is no more! It has developed into 4 smaller piles awaiting being put away but at least it's sorted. I'll put it away tonight. Feel chuffed.

I have actually worked really hard today. It's been toilet/bathroom cleaning day. For once I feel on top of things. The kids bedroom sare different story though. And our room for that matter. That's so neglected. Tomorrow's job.

Thank you all so much I am reading this and crying!

I was realyl ill a few years ago with depression and the housework got away from me in the most frustrating ways. I was unable to find the energy or the motivation to even look after myself let alone a house.

Since I got better I have been trying to get myself. I am currently working two jobs (saving for my wedding) 1 is 35 hours the other anything up to 35 so most of the time I have no time left for housework.

My OH & housemate are no help as they are hardly ever there and both work nights a lot so it's just me cleaning up after 3 people & 9 animals (2 dogs 7 cats). Plus when they do get time off they just don't do anything or promise they will and then don't. (I have tried EVERYTHING to get them to help but it is a waste of time, effort & logic)

I feel I am fighting a never ending battle and sometimes all I do is sit there look around me at my once beautiful house and cry with frustration!

Reading that there are other people out there like me has lifted a massive weight from my shoulders. I honestly believed that I was the only one who lived like this and I felt terrible about it.

Last night I tackled the spare room or as it is otherwise know as the "dumping zone!" I threw out (please don't judge me on this) 6 black sacks of jeans! My OH was really pleased as this is his sancutary. His first comment though was ok great but how long is it going to stay like this. I felt terrible as I realised that everytime I tidy up within a matter of weeks it's back the way it was

Reading the rest of this thread I feel inspired that this year I am going to battle on and get this done. All the half done DIY jobs (OH starts and never finishes which doesnt help) are going to be completed and I am going to de-clutter my life!

Thank you for helping me in a way you probably never expected :rotfl:

    Hi, Faith :)

So pleased to have helped in any way at all :j

Pull up a chair-this is a place to celebrate what you have done, rather than dwell on what you haven't.

(TWO 35 hour a week jobs???? You'd still be an utter heroine, even if you never did anything else!!)

    Thanks Laural

It's the only way we can afford the wedding my OH earns a pittance ATM but once he gets promoted which we are just waiting for now it'll be easier

It feels fantastic to know I'm not the only one and the celebrating what you have done is a fantastic idea!

    Hi Faith and fellow messies!

Lovely day here since 11 ish, was grim this morning. Two loads of washing done, the house hoovered, dishwasher done and unloaded, and I cleaned the outside of the kitchen cupboards and the skirting boards..the later were filthy!

    Enjoy the sunshine! x

    Hello Messies!!

Been a lovely day here again today, washing got dried on the line this afternoon in the sunshine! I popped into town this morning (50 mile round trip) to buy my eldest daughter some sports gear as she's been picked for the County under 10's team!!! :j Proud mummy moment!!! :j

Kitchen is looking a bit of a mess but we've got a friend coming round for supper tonight and he's offered to buy the takeaway so the kitchen can wait till tomorrow.

Faith177 - my husband says exactly the same thing when i get things tidied! Don't despair!! I'm just coming out of a bad couple of years of depression and there is light at the end of the tunnel! Nice to see you are getting married, i always find things a lot easier when i have something to look forward to!

Tomorrow I WILL tidy the kitchen, make some bread, hopefully get some biccies made too as i'm saving a bit of money by making them and not buying choccy bics every week, then i'll have a cuppa in this lovely sunshine!

Well done to everyone that's been busy today!

    Jx
    It's a farmers life for me......:j

    Hi Taadaa

Wow you did well! Great weather for the washing too

I'm on way home now going to tackle kitchen and linen cupboard (I think I might find Lord Lucan at the back if I look hard enough lol)

Then when the weather cools tonight take the stupids (nickname for the dogs) for a walk

    Hi Farmerswife

I'm beginning to get that light at the end of the tunnel feeling and I must say it feels fantastic! The bad days are being outweighed by the good which a while a go I never thought possible

Congrats to your daughter that is fantastic! What sport is it for? And how old is she if you don't mind me asking

Welcome faith, and hi all - faith, one thing you can be sure of, no matter how bad it is, one or more of us will be the same or worse!

My "spare room" is just a junk room with a clothes horse next to the radiator being the only object that's used (or even accessible!) I suffer from the delusion that one day it will be a beautiful uncluttered chill out room displaying my fine quilting works!

Meanwhile I dusted the telly. Because it was getting difficult to see.

No actual de-messying done today - well, it is a school day - but I have washed the dishes so at least that's something.

Hope all messies are well and happy today.

ETA: fuddle, congrats on conquering the pants mountain!

    Hi jps

It is refreshing to see people in the same position as myself I live in a street where all the neighbours have the perfect house, the perfect garden, the perfect animals :(

I feel like i'm letting the side down lol. My mum always says their lucky they either a) live on their own b) work part time or c) have partners who actually spend time at home.

I can't talk to these people as I can't stand snobs lol and my friends mostly live with their parents or have the perfect houses lol
