Hi Fuddle
I spotted you the other day in the Tougher thread (I'm too scaredey to post in there and generally have nothing helpful to say so I just lurk :P)

Thank you
jpscloud. messymare you post in there if you want to you know.
It isn't scary any more. 'tis full of lovely people and I have learned oodles from them.
Ok confession time. I have two piles generally when washing. One is ironing pile and the other is non irons (pants, pj's, socks, towels, bedding) The non iron pile is so huge it's a mountain and all my family have to dig around there for clean stuff daily. It never gets sorted just tipped ontop ofI guess that is the first real messy job to sort. I'm dreading it

Hello fuddle
What, you mean there really is a non-mountain way of dealing with the washing???
Feeling a bit down, because my parents rang to check up on what I've been doing and didn't sound very impressed. I think an entire room de-messied, two walls filled and one painted and a whole day in the garden ain't so bad. But still....:o
I have also been putting sorry-looking tomato plants outside. The five day forecast is mild, and they need to go into their pots before they get any leggier. Still have the chili and pepper plants in isolation after a greenfly infestation--they've hardly grown at all
Not completely sure what has taken the time in the garden, but lots of things planted and...that's about it, really. I'm also feeling completely carp. TOM, I forgot my tablets last night and woke up shaking (I took a half dose this morning, but it seemed to take forever to kick in) and to cap it all, I think I might have conjunctivitis. If it doesn't hurt less by the morning I'll have to see the doctor. Can't be spreading it around a primary school. Even if it is after SATs...

My goodness laurel, you've achieved loads - if your parents are disappointed perhaps they could come round and give a practical demonstration of how much more you should have done!
I've done very little, just the absolute basics for hygiene, and washing for work.
I didn't get out to the charity shops this week again, but have had a very MSE fortnight with just absolute basics in the way of groceries and so on.
The monthlies have finally struck (only two weeks late!) so hoping my hormones will settle down a bit now.
Had another poke around the garden and planted the new tayberry. It won't fruit this year but roll on next year and I should have some nice summer fruit from it.
I agree you shouldn't feel scared of posting on the "tougher" thread, MM - the regulars there aren't at all cliquey and welcome new posters very warmly. I sort of lurk there and post here most of the time, but always feel welcome to post there as well.
Off to bed with a cocoa, the lappy and a dvd now... hope everyone is well.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

I shall have to have a peep in one of my less paranoid moments!
I desperately need to get my dahlias in, feel bad for neglecting the bulbs for this long but B threw them in the shed and I keep forgetting about them. He also made out the the cover of my cloche had blown away, and I found it last night folded up in the wood store! Hmmm, figure that one out. Laurel - if you're satisfied at the end of the day blow whatever anyone else thinksI'm lucky - my mum is my biggest cheerleader in whatever I do, bless her. I'll lend her out for a small fee :P

My mum is like yours MM, but my dad is totally the opposite. He tends to be very critical and judgemental, where my mum always makes me feel like I'm the greatest, no matter what. Weird how they are polar opposites.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Same here JP - my dad is totally doom, gloom and pessimism - nothing is done right unless it's done his way, and he always finds fault even when you're doing really well. Are we secretly long lost sisters

Thanks jps, Messymare.
My parents are a huge help to me, but it does come at a price sometimes. If they've worn themselves out helping me (and they do) then it's hard not to feel I have to earn it by living up to their standards. Unfortunately, those standards require a full-time housewife just for indoors. And I sometimes think they forget I have a job...two jobs, actually...
But it is definitely getting easier. It's getting on for four years now since I was in hospital, and the mess is a fraction of what it was; the garden is lower maintenance; the house is partly updated. I'm tired, sometimes fed up, still a stranger to the iron, but not desperate and overwhelmed like I used to be. I'll get thereimport this0 -
My parents are both long dead, though I can identify with some of this but the other way around. My mum was quite critical but I know in my heart that she loved us all and she was a very loving Nan. My Dad never even shouted at me - my DD remembers him as a Santa Claus figure, how lovely to be remembered like that.
Mum's house was immaculate. Mum and Dad had separate lives from my mid teens, Dad's flat, er... wasn't immaculate. Later in life he got a home help and things improved.
My presence on this thread tells you which way I went.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
sorry folks, haven't been on for a while. guess it's the usual being-in-denial kinda thing where i don't want to knuckle down and just 'get on with it'... got upset with a friend the other night and that spurred me on to get on with the kitchen floor cleaning at midnight. it was cathartic for me, knowing that i can channel my negative feelings into doing something useful. normally, this gets done on every 4/5 days or so, and it was overdue.
today, finally sorted out the stair carpet and bedroom hoovering. this gets done normally every week, but haven't done so for more than two.
perhaps, i should get round to doing the windows tomorrow. it was a Sunday job for when I used to get up early and do them before buying the paper. nowadays, i don't as my allotment takes precedence in the mornings..
in the library sale recently, i came across this book called 'Speed Cleaning' (something like that) which I originally borrowed a few months ago and altho' I had earmarked it as a keeper, I wanted to buy a copy as I really found it useful to know that you can get into a system of working out a priority list for the week, and using essential equipment/cleaners. Now that the book has been in my possession for the past month, I haven't even opened it, let alone making use of it!
It's hard to motivate myself, and I know that this forum is meant to be the best place for me to get the help.. the house isn't a real tip, but it could be an awful lot better as I have a lot of stuff that should really be discarded...but can't bring myself to do tho' as I know I 'may need it again' (altho' not now, nor tomorrow, or next week! or the month after!!)
it's relentless, the cycle I'm in, not budging from this stubborn postion I'm in.. how have you broken your rut of doing not much? I keep up with the basics, and that's about it, really...
thanks in advance..0
