For the last 3 nights, he's got into bed underneath the pile of his clothes. I then push all his stuff onto the floor and get into bed beside him. Then he picks it up in the morning and puts it back on the bed.

Oh sorry, was just reading back through - this is the sort of thing my hubby would do - and it really made me laugh.

My hubby has this habit of stuffing his clothes into the corner of the room between his bedside cabinet and the wall. He seems to think that if he stuffs them into a really small space you cant see them.

I am going to do a dump run this morning, got a fe bits hanging around and some garden clippings from the front hedge.

Still got clothes to put away :o and washing up to do :o I ran the dishwasher yesterday but it was here when we moved in and it's cr*p so have to hand wash some of the items anyway.

I think I will do something fun after that, all this tidying is draining my soul :rotfl:
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o

What has made me feel better lately about the constant mess is making sure the beds are made each morning. Even if it is just bunging the duvet over and smoothing it, it makes me feel better when i walk into those rooms (even if you can't see the carpet for the mess!!)
Finally getting my life on track. Onwards and upwards.

I really like the sound of that!!:D

    eta LOVE IT!!!

Does this one have daily room targets like flylady?

I am considering flylady app. I love the thread here but find it difficult to keep up with people's news, which really is the bit that makes our thread better. This foul mouthed version seems more succinct than original fly lady.....but i like the fly
    Lady room a day approach.

My favourite tip is to a lot of tiny doses of cleaning. Like, unload the dishwasher while the kettle is boiling and reload it while your tea is steeping. Put laundry away while the bath is running. Wipe the counter while your crumpet toasts.

I like the ideas at Flylady, but something about the purple sparkly downhome cutesy gee-mom-put-your-lipstick-on vibe really gets my goat. Have you seen Unf**k Your Habitat? It's certainly right at the other extreme!

Just had a quick look at this one, much more my style. I shall try this approach for a while.

I used to have piles of odd socks, now I just wear 2 sort of matching but as I generally only go out to walk the dogs they don't really care what I have on my feet. Under boots it doesn't matter at all if you have one red and one blue sock.

    Hi everyone ,
great thread and tips :jlove the one having a sock in pocket for dusting!
    my little things are :
sort out drawers while wathching tv, I have them all out and start sorting through making little piles, binning things then re arranging, same with filing paperwork I do that while watching tv, sometimes I just do my nails instead though he he he ;) every girl needs a manicure sometimes ....
I used to try and tidy things away at night to find them messed up in the morning cause DD gets up at 6 to get ready for school :( so now I have a quick whip round before I go to work.
I use containers (shoebox with their name on) when tidying, one for each person in the household ( they all leave stuff everywhere!!) these can be found filled up on the stairs.
they can take box upstairs and put items away when going to their room. they also have to bringboxes back down :). or fav make make upmight disappear.
I have allocated a little drawer for DD's make up and straighners in livingroom since that is where she gets ready in morning then rushing for schoolbus! It was downstairs everyday so may aswell stay there.Other one like to clutter up the shelf in hallway .........then going to work! however she gets ready in her room any other time so clobber needs to travel back upstairs.
I also put under sink units in bathrooms, that sorted the bathrooms out. It was worth the investment. I found putting things where you use them is the key ( and plenty of storage)
i have a big cupboard with shelves and plenty of shoeboxes with labels on them for items that don't get used on a daily basis like tape, hooks, bulbs, tools etc........

Im terribly messy - actually I think I am just disorganised! I have just bought some very strong cardboard boxes to decant all my paperwork in I should keep. I thought I needed loads - I actually chucked most and only filled a 3rd of a box!
Im dumping the crappy dvds this week. Im not great with anything too involved so tend to box everything up then go through a box at a time whilst watching tv. I get exhausted very quickly with my joint pain so easiest non daunting way for me.
The biggy is the huge sideboard. Ive been putting it off for months but ideally I want it empty so I can put dvd's etc in it rather than on display so I can have my pictures out to look at instead. *sigh*

    what is it?

It's a blog about getting mess under control, but with swearing. It's for a younger and cooler audience than Flylady - maybe more suited to young people in shared rentals - but at least there aren't any of those cloying "blessings". If you google UFYH it's the first result.

I've just looked at it and it is totally up my street (mainly because it hasn't got the word 'lady' in the title which immediately gets my back up!)
