I'm just waiting for someone to come and collect some Good Food magazines from Freecycle, and some old bedding/towels we don't use anymore. Feeling pretty icky today so don't know how productive I will be. Someone didn't turn up on Friday after me dragging the item out from under the spare bed
I dunno how do we end up with so much 'stuff'?? The next time I decide to buy something I think I will ask myself what the chances are of it being eBayed for a fraction of the price or put on Freecycle in a couple of years. Pretty sure that will stop me from wasting my money in the first place.
I found some scrap check tweed fabric, been after a check cushion for ages but didn't want to pay 15 quid  so going to make a patchwork one now. Might even cut out a Scottie dog silhouette to go on the frontI have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

Hi Messies.
MessyMare - Productive? Moi?? Anyway, no need to feel `ashamed` here - we are all self-confessed messies, it`s just that some folks get a spurt of motivation or desperation or fidgets or guilt-driven energy from time to time.... hardly makes `em Flyladies! Glad you enjoyed the film.
Teebird - lists are a double-edged sword. I`ve given up on them at present because I get carried away making unrealistic ones then get demotivated by uncrossed-off tasks....you can only do what you can do!
Jacksmummy - sounds healthy, you left the pantry but did other stuff instead. Pantry will keep to fight another day!
Snookey - love your commitment to your dog, know exactly what you mean. I`d give up on the catflaps for now though...
Weather is lovely, but I feel carp, plus guilty for being off when it`s nice!
Have blitzed kitchen this am (DGD made pizza last night)
Popped over to DD`s briefly.
1 load in WM hung outside.
Going to potter outside now, maybe snip a few more nettles...0 -
Planned to do a few runs to the tip today - OH has been tidying up outside and we need to clear some of the building-site rubbish. I've never seen our tip soooooooo busy. We actually had to queue to get in. Seen that in other places but never at this one before. Managed to offload one trailer-full and one car-full but the two soil/rubble skips were full and the staff couldn't say when they'd be changed as the skip lorry had broken down. Give that the rest of the rubbish is either soil or rubble, not a lot of point trying to go back again today so OH is going to try to get there during the week. Totally frustrating though.
Not sure what to do with the rest of the day. OH is doing a bit more tidying outside. I should go and help him but when he's in this mood, I generally end up getting in the way. I'd like to sort out inside the house but so much of the carp lying around the lounge is his and I'm too scared to do anything with that! Might just take the approach developed in my student days - deal with everything that is mine so that he can't accuse me of doing nothing, without disturbing any of his stuff so he can't accuse me of moving it so that he can't find it again! Can't even justify procrastinating by baking - did that all yesterday! I've got to bake a cake for work this afternoon (yesterdays efforts were trial runs) but that might as well wait until I put the joint in the oven later.
Oh well, must tear myself away and at least look like I'm doing something useful ;-)0 -
Hi all!!
I meant to post on here this morning but couldn't get to the computer! I've finished the conservatory, wheelie bin full of tat and a few bags to go to charity shop!! I've been very busy, kids weren't impressed with beans on taost for lunch so i'm just making a fish pie for supper.
Emm-in-a-pickle - I wish i could have hung my washing out today but the weather is totally crap here, windy & raining!
JxIt's a farmers life for me......:j0 -
Hi messies, had a bit of a carp weekend, very menopausal I think. I feel slightly better today but have only done the very basic essential hygiene jobs.
I've started crocheting fabric scraps to make a rag rug, I need to make a few of these to carpet the spare bedroom (for when I finally get it cleared and painted!)
I have loads of jobs I really need to do but no energy or motivation to do them. I did finally get around to planting the potatoes in their compost bags though.
Would like to have gone for a walk, but feel too bloated and painful around the middle. Hope this doesn't last too long, it's so miserable.
Anyway, enough moaning! Hope all messies are well, good luck for the new week all.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Right, today, I've been for a jog (only up and down the garden a few times, nothing too exciting!), applied for a job, put the washing away and done the mountain of washing up. I was lamenting not doing any de-cluttering but then remembered that I finally threw away all the questionable looking things from the fridge, does that count?
Jps- I know the bloated feeling, have you tried a hot water bottle on it? That always used to help me.
Farmer's wife - sounds like you've had a great day, well done
Sonastin - I've had that 'want to do something but not really sure what' feeling today too
Emm - I know I shouldn't, it's just one of those annoying feelings that stems from within meguh, but I'm on a turn-my-life-around kick at the moment, so I'm trying to be a little bit more positive and being back here with you lovely ladies is wonderful
Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; always try just one more time0 -
Oooh thanks MM, I had forgotten about the hot water bottle trick. It does work wonders in the small of my back!
And yes de-messying the fridge is definitely to be counted!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

I'm a bit of a "spirit is willing flesh is weak" reformed messy but this weekend I've done rather well (for me)
I got a new work desk (second hand bargain)and really needed to get rid of the old one -but it was too good to chuck but a friend popped round and told me her much repaired laptop had died yet again and she's skint -so she left with the desk -a decent PC I'm not currently using on long term loan and my spare monitor-I also bought a new bed frame and the horrid very old divan is about to be banished from my bedroom but not before the room is massively cleared out -the old TV that has sat on a chest of drawers (and never used) is now sitting in the front garden awaiting council pick up (unless someone decides they want it for bits first)and will be shortly joined by the divan and an old wardrobe as soon as I have a date from the council (already requested by email) for large item pick up.
Where I used to live instead of this Sutton did a skip service-every six months a skip would appear for 48 hours -and then be taken away-Fab idea as it meant lots of stuff would get recycled (people would leave the nice stuff by the skip instead of in it )
My home office desperately needs redecorating so I'm doing 10 minute bursts of cleaning and sorting tonight and the paint for the walls is sitting waiting for me (just need to pick up emulsion for the ceiling tomorrow). I work from home so it needs to be nicer -it's getting me down at the moment and boring cream is going to be replaced by pink and purple !!I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
Hi all! Lovely to see some new and old faces
jps-that quilt was fabulous. Hope you feel better soon.
Buffy...you go, girl
Pottering in garden today. I'm not sure whether I could point to much and say "That's where my day went", but quite a lot is cut back, tied in, swept up...the greenhouse is immaculate, the vine pruned and tied into wires I've fixed to the wall, and there's another tree stump in the bin. *And* I spent 40 minutes in the queue for the tip . The weeds have been doing their best to take over while I've been trapped indoors with the rain, but as long as I'm actually out there, grabbing a few as I pass, then their days are numbered. Just wish we could be certain the frosts were over. Only 2 degrees tonight!
Housework status...considering moving into the greenhouse :rotfl:import this0 -
duchy,
pink and purple sounds very nice for your office!! I'd love to decorate our office.....maybe when i can get to it!It's a farmers life for me......:j0
