My home is a mess

Hi everyone
Well have pottered about a bit today, although not quite sure what i have done lol
We cleaned the carpet in the nursery the other day and now it doesn't smell too good, it's the carpet rather than the cleaner. I put down some shake and vac about 2 hours ago so need to go and hoover that up
I have a chocolate and guinness cake in the oven for my cousins birthday tomorrow
Need to empty the dishwasher and re-fill and wipe down the surfaces
I've written a list of things i want to do in each room so will probably make a start on that this afternoon, i do like to cross things off a list!
having home made coronation chicken on a jacket spud for my tea so will do that a bit later on0 -
Hello!
I've been reading all of your posts and decided that you all sound like a lovely bunch!
I'm a mother of 3, married to a farmer but unfortunately do not seem to possess the traditional farmers wife tendency to keep my house clean & tidy!! I hate living in the mess and every few weeks i have a blitz but would really like to get more organised. I also dread anybody knocking on the door in case they need to use the bathroom which would involve them walking through the whole house and seeing the mess!! Aaaargh!!
On the plus side i do like cooking and use that as my excuse for not having time to do the housework haha!! My biscuit and cake tins are always full so if i do ever let anybody into my messy house they always get something yummy to eat!
Basically, i'm just lazy and really need to get motivated, i've got a lovely farmhouse and would love to keep it clean and tidy and be happy to let people visit.
JxxIt's a farmers life for me......:j0 -
Hi all *waves*
I have dipped in and out of this thread a few times as well. I have been off work poorly with pregnancy related stuff, but when I have been able, I have been clearing drawers and things out and putting them on freecycle or eBay. I am having a major purge in some areas (like my dressing table!!) as there is far too much clutter that I can barely manage to keep dust free as is, dread to think what it will be like with a baby as well. Trying to set myself realistic goals each day, hope it will help to build my strength and stamina back up before I go back to work. I've clceared out under the spare bed, as that will be going into DS's room in a couple of months. Well, I've cleared out the bits I could easily reach :rotfl:
I do need to weed the garden still. I've cheated and bought weedkiller but it hasn't been dry enough to use it any time recently.I think I might cheat some more and buy some veg plants, I've missed seeding season completely. Again..
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off

Not much done today. In between the showers I made a delivery in town and later took the cat for her booster - that cost nearly £40  Did a bit of paperwork too. Not sure where the day went really except for far too much time on the internet :rotfl: Must not switch the computer on in the morning!
Should be dry weather for a few days now so hoping to get lots of gardening done - this wet Spring has really set my veg growing back"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -
Hello everyone, please may I join you? I'm a serial lurker on some OS boards, poster on others, but am ready to confess all and be a Messy!
DH and I have 5 children, aged 25, 23, 20, almost 5 and 2 and a half, eldest two live away (apart from a few months living here recently due to financial woes - theirs not mine!). We've been in a tip for years, but it got worse after the 5 year old arrived and I'm seriously depressed by the state we're in.
I start a new job in a few weeks, working 2 days a week, and am dreading leaving my littlies, having even less time or energy to start tackling the mess....oh help! I have started doing extra little things each day, now that the others have moved out, but it all seems so daunting. Watching the current hoarder-type programmes on tv is not helping either!!
Our 20 year old was a star today - he looked after the toddler so I could go to a sewing class and voluntarily dejunked the landing, putting rubbish outside, clothes in laundry bin and hoovered the floor! I think he's just a tad fed up of the mess, too!

our house is in even worse state as we went camping on Isle of Wight for the bank holiday weekend (weather was atrocious and yes we went by motorcycle) and now my house looks like a branch of Millets :rotfl:
with all the tent bits and sleeping bags and bedding all hanging up to air. not to mention the bike kit all hanging up to dry out. I'm feelign decidedly overwhealmed. but I will take the bull by the horns and today I will but not necessarily in this order:

Welcome aboard, Farmerswife, Taadaa, and Cheapskate.
Farmerswife - your home sounds just fine to me, I can almost smell your homebaking from here...
Cheapskate - your 20-yr old sounds a treasure, can I borrow him to show my DS how it`s done?
Taadaa - I`ve missed a stage & bought plants too (runner beans).
Rosie - any news re the car...?
Gillybean - I HATE damp carpet...in fact, I just hate carpet....
Buffy - FOUR dates? (Oh to be young...I`ve reached the age where I`d rather settle for just playing with the puppies!)
Messy status...
Still feel grotty, went doc-bothering this am and now on anti b`s. Off next week as well. Am very CBA indoors, so a bit of gentle (& probably ineffectual really) pottering in the garden. Quite sunny between brief light showers...fresh air might be therapeutic.
Snipped a few nettles & brambles here & there....off to snip a few more now...0 -
Hello everyone! Trying to get my whole life turned around; temp job ending in a couple of weeks (eek, unemployment) but trying to view the unemployed time as a good thing, to get my skills up, volunteer, etc. I've sunk back into my shell a little and my anxiety levels keep going through the roof, so I've got an appointment with the wonderful dr that sorted me out last time (not until June though, he's flippin popular!) to get it sorted for good.
Had some very, very low moments triggered by really stupid stuff, so I really let everything go...and was very close to sacrificing my relationship because of it. But we're still going strong, so that's all that matters. I do love my wonderful B
The dog is still peeing on the carpet, the daft old bat, but at least he's not doing the other too much!
I watched the hoarder next door last night, and somehow it's given me loads of energy and willpower to get sorted, so been trying to sort through stuff today. Binned my favourite pair of trainers, but had a wobble and almost took them out of the bin again...why, I don't know- they've got whopping great holes in the bottom! Somehow it feels that if I can get the house looking nice - we're not talking show home here, our house is always going to look...er....lived in... but just without so much junk around, it's cluttering up my mind as well as my space. Why couldn't I let go of tonnes of magazines? Packaging? The little imp in my head still keeps trying to say 'oh, that will come in handy!
Just sitting down to have a breather before I get back on it. I'm sorry I keep going MIA, I must try to get in more (this is the only social life I have!). Will try to catch up with you all later when headless chicken mode is over!
Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; always try just one more time0 -
Well Dobies are 20% off this weekend so that's my excuse sorted to buy a few plants. Glad to see the first strawberries forming on my runners with no help from me - glad it has rained so much recently (sorry!!)
I have put a load of DVDs and CDs on Music Magpie this afternoon, only 20 quid but better than taking up space and gathering dust. I have also had 2 freecyclers picking stuff up that I advertised. All the clothes that will go on ebay are in one wicker basket now, and the plant related stuff that was in the utility room has been shipped out to the greenhouse that a neighbour kindly gave me. That has made room for DHs motorbike gear..so now he can't come into the living room and dump it on the chaise longue!!
I've got loads of fabric scraps so I am going to make some bunting over the weekend. Bloody knackered now
Will have a think about what else to do over the weekend. I find it really helps to set a couple of goals each day.I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off
