    Morning ladies & (Gent‘s)..

I was hoping that I could also join!?

I have had the craziest 6 months, We moved in December, Since this time, We have had loads of up’s & down’s, Resulting in my partner being diagnosed as depression, So I can safely say our new home has become a dumping ground.

Everyday I wake, Feeling ready to make the change’s needed, However within a hour I have lost all motivation.

Hopefully, With the support of you lovely people, My dump will become a home! XD :j

So far today, I have managed to clean the kitchen from top to bottom, With just the mopping & washing inside the cupboards left to do! :j

Then I will make a start in the front room! :~
    Future goals:
    Become debt free.
    Beat Depression.
    Be happy & healthy

ok thats it i give in :( Ive just spent the last hour sorting my living room, i nip up to the bathroom and give that a quick once over and while im up there my 1 year old has thrown 200 ball pool balls all over, ragged all the dvds out and tipped the bag of rubbish id picked up and sorted out all over my floor again, id stupidly left it on the sofa! had all the stone out my fire and tipped a pot of glitter make up of her sisters all over the floor (god knows how she got that!) So now it looks worse then it did when i started :(

I just wanna go back to bed and stay there today!! But now i have to clean up my living room again!!!

Well so far today i've been shopping and put it all away . Next on list is to load dishwasher and then fill larder unit o/h built for me yesterday. I think just thinking about the next job i want to do and not thinking of how much to do there is in the whole room / house is paying off . At least now i can feel a sense of achievement even if i only clean one corner iykwim .

I agree with helen jelly the flylady thread is great but very intimidating i'm not ready for that yet i need to learn not to be so lazy. Trouble is until about 10 years ago i used to be super tidy like the flyladys . Cups used to be washed and back in the cupboard before they even hit the coffee table. My oh used to moan it was too tidy now it's too messy so i can't win lol.

Have a fab day fellow messies and enjoy the sunshine as you work.

Aww Taliahmai, I don't have any advice or word of wisdom as I am not a mother, but I sympathise with you nonetheless.

Oh Taliahmai i really feel for you, I remember things like that only to well....cleaning up, and 10 mins later it would look a tip again, so i'd think why flaming bother.

I know it's not nice spending goodness knows how long tidying up knowing dam well it won't stay like that for long.

My children are now 20 and almost 18, DS has left home and DD is out alot.

All i can really say to you is the mess will always be their for you to clean but the kids won't stay little for long.....enjoy them while they are small....whats MORE important, clean tidy house, or making the most of you childrens lives (and yours) while they are young? I know what i'd rather do (if i had my time over again) and my DS and DD come to me sometimes now and say do you remember when we done this or went thier, or played water fights or painting and, and, and ............ but i doubt they would remember a tidy or messy house (a tidy house is more for us to feel better though)

Hope i've made some kinda sense, i know what i mean in my head but sometimes i find it hard to put onto paper, well onto website in this case.

    Hi Taliahmah, that's upsetting.

Could you not pop your one year old in her cot whilst you are upstairs, or see about getting a playpen? I do agree that kids are kids and you can't have a tidy house with little ones, but that last episode must be sole destroying.

Not done a thing yet except gone through some papers that had fallen down the side of the bed and binned some of them. Better get dressed, it's shameful, it's gone mid day.

Keep up the hard work everyone.

    Hi,
I have been lurking too, not fully read the thread. I am guilty of reading lots about having an organised home but not putting any of it into action my awful habit is throwing paperwork into random cupboards and have decided to fix this when I couldn't find the car insurance/mot to get the tax done.
So, today I have done lots of filing and not much else. I am at home now without a job until september so I am hoping to use this time to do all the little odd jobs around the house....
Any tips on what to do with children? :D I have tried start charts etc but housework doesnt seem to be their thing either, all I ask is tidy rooms have even tried bribery but no, they'd rather be skint than tidy!

Kymbo. I don't know how old your kids are but i've started my grandaughter ( aged 5 ) off by giving her little jobs . She has to put all her toys away each night before bed and any she doesn't are removed but i've told her after a couple of weeks they won't be removed and returned they'll be binned . Only did it a few days ago and it's lovely not having to walk around toys to cross the floor . She helps her uncle empty the bins and the dishwasher and she checks every saturday if any of the toilet roll holders need refilling . First few days she moaned now she wants more jobs lol.

Well i've sorted out 2 cupboards and filled up the new unit with stuff that was cluttering up the kitchen. I've painted 3 walls in the kitchen about 2/3rds of the way up and sweet talked my 19 yo son into finishing the top for me so just 1 wall left to do and i have wallpaper for that hopefully tomorrow or friday. I binned loads of stuff and have nothing left that's out of date and when i open the cupboards i can see what i want straight away i have tidy ones not cluttered ones.

Ah craftygranny, it reminds me of my own childhood! My lovely grandmother always used to give us children little jobs around the house. And I loved it, because she would always tell me stories about how she would do that too when she was a little girl, how she lived then, etc. Good memories :) I think it's great you teach your granddaughter how to tidy after herself. :)

Taliahmai...I have always been an advocate of the playpen, for both your sanity and the toddler's safety...an hour's effort wasted would be too much for me to take!

Today have managed to clear the hall of rubbish, disposed of said rubbish to bin, sorted mail for my children ( who no longer live here....why do I get their mail??), disposed of dead lilac and floweres in two vases and replaced with fresh, improves the look of living room no end, still need to hoover in there but will have to wait until to-night when OH has gone to bed as he is watching tv and that cannot be disturbed for something as mundane as hoovering!

Not enough babysteps to make much difference yet, but I know what has been done so can feel good about it.
