    Hi all

Have just had a quick read through, seems to be quite a few of us on here with emotional problems and I wonder if thats because we all lead such flippin stressful lives nowadays - no wonder our houses are a mess. Hugs to those in need. I know my anxiety is always hovering the the background but I have learnt to keep it at arms length - well for most of the time anyway.

No housework done for two weeks so I woke up today ready to spring into battle. I have:

Been for an 8 mile bike ride
Cleaned the bathroom and washed the floor
    Dusted and hoovered the bedrooms
Done 4 loads of washing, all dried and folded including our bedding
Cut the grass front and back
Sorted some paperwork but didnt manage to find a form I need to fill in for school

And now I feel absolutely shattered! In fact everyone else is out so I am going to finish tidying up the kitchen and go and hog the sofa and the telly for a while.

I should have been back at work today.

Unfortunately, as the last resort of a desperate workplace, we had consultants in so we can tell them how loved and valued we are. Note how convinced I am that honest answers are welcome. Every time I've been compelled to take part in one of these exercises, all it has forced me to do is spend the time meditating upon how unloved and unvalued I feel. Sometimes I've been lucky to make it to the car before the tears start. I've been dreading today all holiday, and was unsuccessfully fighting back the tears this morning....before I even left the house.

Then I saw sense, and called in sick. I suppose it's even true, in a way. If I'd gone to the GP in the state I was this morning I don't think I'd be back at work this month. As it is, I'll have my professional mask on tomorrow and I'll be fine. Denial is a wonderful thing...as long as they let me bloody have it. :o

But after all that, in the end I actually had a nice day, finishing the cross stitch picture for my mum. :T Only fifteen years in the making. Whew. :)

Grrrrrrrrr - I've been quietly seething all morning. OH decided to get in my way at breakfast time this morning unpacking boxes of kitchen stuff because I've been taking too long over getting round to it. He unpacked all the stuff that came from his house but then took one look in a box that came from my house and said "you'll have to unpack that because it all looks like junk to me" I told him I'd do it tonight when I get home from work and I got a lecture about how "it must be done" and how I shouldn't do any more "messing around baking biscuits" until everything is in the cupboards which went on long enough to nearly make me late for work this morning.:mad:

I've been fuming ever since and getting all hung up on the little things he could do quicker/sooner/better - work should be a distraction but I've got one of those mindless tasks on today that leaves plenty of obsessing time which isn't helping.

So I thought I'd have a little rant here to get it off my chest in the hope that I can calm down before I get home tonight. I think it's a fair bet that OH ain't getting any dinner before 10pm and its unlikely to be anything he wants to eat unless he gets off his backside and cooks it himself. After all, I'm not allowed to do any cooking now until I've unpacked EVERYTHING :rotfl:

-Laurel, I used to work at a place that was forever doing employee satisfaction stuff. One of my colleagues got to the point where, when asked "what is the best thing about working for ******?" he answered "employee satisfaction surveys" and to "what could ******* do to make working here better" he answered "more surveys". I don't think they understood the sarcasm!

-kitty, my temporary kitchen was about as big as what you've shown in your photos. Now I've moved into the shiny new lovely kitchen (which I'm not allowed to use any more ;)) I keep finding myself working on the same 2ft bit of work top. If we didn't have 2 houses worth of stuff to try to fit into the kitchen, I reckon I'd be quite happy just using the utility room (which is what the temp space is going to be turned into!). Actually, make that 3 kitchens worth of stuff- I spent a couple of years working away mon-fri so had 2 lots of everything myself and now that's being combined with OH's stuff too. I think freecycle/car boot/charity shop/e-bay/tip needs doing!

Afternoon all, I am trying to get back to routine today now kids went back to school and OH back to work, he makes more mess than kids grr!
    So far today I have
Put pork joint in slow cooker for tea
Made breakfast for dd and ds
Made dd packed lunch (really need to get into the habit of doing this nite before!)
    Walked kids to school
    Done dishes
    Tidied kitchen
    Tidied living room
    Put wash on
    Taken dry washing upstairs
Folded and put away about 10 towels that were over banister/bath/radiator etc
    Tidied ds room
    Made beds
    Put away ds washing
    Emptied bins upstairs
    Tidied bathroom
    Hoovered landing and ds room
Cleaned bathroom (having a big bathroom not always a great thing lol)

Now I am sitting down with a cuppa before I put some washing away then pick up kids, ds has a friend for tea tonight so needed his room cleared. Quite happy with what I have got done today, hoping to get into a routine of 1 hrs cleaning/sorting/tidying per day to keep on top of things, I got on top of my ironing pile over the Easter hols and it was such a relief!

    I dont know why but Iv been busy cleaning again. Iv;
    washed the dishes,
    four more loads of washing,
folded up a ton of clean washing,
    deep cleaned the living room,
    mopped floors,
Im now sitting drinking a coffee before putting the washing away and hanging some wet washing .
Ill tell you later if Iv done it.
Well done everyone on your cleaning.
  • Laurel - I don`t blame you one tiny bit, sounds like your day was far better spent! Hope your first day back today goes well.
Snookey...right now if I got 8 miles away from here on a bike I`d keep on going!
Kitty - well done - I thought you`d missed a bit, but it`s some muck on my monitor screen!
Sonastin, of course YOUR stuff is just junk and OH`s isn`t!! That just about sums it up here too, only it`s not OH, it`s DS. That`s his attitude, and just completely sums up most of the cause of mess & clutter here, and the Inertia thing is largely because it takes a big row to get him to move anything or even allow it to be moved, now. And I just don`t have the energy or the appetite for a big row. I just feel rather shat upon.

I have done something constructive though. Several years ago my old airing cupboard got turned into a `pantry`. Not very big, and it`s upstairs, but initially it saved a lot of space in my small kitchen. Well, yesterday I had a good clearout there, am very much ashamed by the amount of stuff I binned, but SO way out of date, tins looking dodgy, etc. I hate waste, but it had to go, and I`m not going to stockpile like that again...
I made space for a couple of large items from the kitchen that I seldom use (pressies, like electric wok, & curry station thingy) so the kitchen is a little less cluttered too. And the small chest freezer in the spare room is desperate for a sort-out, but I can`t get to it properly for boxes of DS`s junk...I did manage to liberate a leg of lamb from one corner of it, and now it`s defrosted and just gone in the oven for tonight. Had to go out this am on an errand that took me past Mr A`s, so nipped in to get a couple of bags of their frozen mashed potato (quid each, so not expensive laziness..) and I`m going to do microwaved swede, scoop out & mix it in, and steam some Arctic cabbage (from farm shop). So not much prep, and comfort food.
Also nipped into Mr T`s to use up a tenner`s worth of tokens about to expire, and got 2 bales of good white cotton towels- 2 facecloths, 2 50cmx90cm, 2 70cmx127cm. 2.99 each bale!!Have washed them and hung them to dry. Also waiting for our Log man, delivery due anytime now.
The food, towels, and logs should have the `normal` me quite delighted by now, but I still feel miserable. NOTHING but at least ONE sack of stuff for the skip will turns things around!
  • Well I've done
    Changed sheets
    Cleaned en suite
    Cleaned kitchen top to bottom
    Made bread rolls
1 basket of ironing and put away

    Plucked eyebrows
    Face pack
    Painted nails

Now having a catch up on tv with the dogs cuddled up with me
