Have been lurking without much to report... but huge hugs to all who need them.
I had a bit of an Eureka moment this week.
I am disabled and need a cleaner to help me manage but she has only been doing the kitchen and bathroom. The lounge ..well...
This week, I realised that if I got the kitchen reasonably straight before she arrived - having done my best to keep it tidier - it would free her to do the lounge/diner and hallway - which she did.
Marvellous, and a real incentive to keep the kitchen and bathroom neater each week.

Well done Andrea and welcome to Messies!

Well done to you too aklmatthews, sounds like a busy day there.

Hope you feel better soon gilly, take care.

I'm still at work and calling in on my parents after, so doubt very much will get done tonight. Might change the bed though, and have lovely clean sheets to sleep in.

I really should do the bedroom this week, the dust bunnies are more like dust elephants!

  • Mccullough - your post made me smile. Many years ago I had a friend who had a cleaner in one day a week. It had to be the day AFTER her Wednesday afternoon off, so she could clean & tidy ready for the paid cleaner next day! She explained that she couldn`t really afford it, but she said it was the only way to shame herself & her messy family into doing any tidying/cleaning up at all!

Messy status report - SOME progress has been made chez-Emm...
Log man came back today and fitted a new fastener on the gate, so now I can safely leave old Daftie-dog in the garden again...
Bedroom looks bigger and cleaner now, since sorting a lot of clothes and boxes, and hoovering the carpet I found under all the carp - Henry is my best friend!!!
Also hoovered hall/stairs & landing, which were all very hairy....
Have also cleared a bit of carp from caravan & spare room, so DS is sulking (I haven`t even slung HIS precious carp, just heaped some of it together out of my way!) Tip of the iceberg, really, but I can at least see some difference, and feel I`ve made a good start.
LR is reasonable-ish, Kitchen OK except for the floor.
And I still have 3 days left. (back to work Tuesday)
My strategy is....sort & shift more carp, this is different from the `ticking-over` stuff that needs doing like LR & kitchen, they get done anyway, when I can fit them in.
Drags self away to shift more carp...

I used to have a cleaner. She was *rubbish* at cleaning but the £20 was worth it to make me keep my house tidy. When OH came into my life he was horrified at the quality of her cleaning and couldn't get that that wasn't what it was all about! Luckily she found a proper permanent job so she left before his nagging made me sack her!

Emm- henry is my friend too. Used to have a dyson but OH brought henry with him and he's so much easier to use. And OH has to change the bag so emptying is no longer my job! There's a henry in my office at the moment with james' head on it - looks very weird. Hope you get to melt the iceberg eventually if your DS is like my OH I know you've got one heck of a battle on your hands!

jps- you're making me jealous. Really need to change our bed but the laundry basket is overflowing at the moment. Not only would I be scared to add to the pile with dirty sheets but I think that it would pretty much block all access to the clean sheets which I think are stored somewhere behind the laundry basket. Safest thing to do is leave grubby sheets on the bed and hope OH can get the tumbly dryer operational this weekend. Or we get a break in the weather to get some laundry dry without smelling of wet dog!
  • Hi everyone

It's been raining on and off most of the day, not good for gettingbthe washing dry

    Today I have
Made Oh and myself a hot lunch before he went to work
    Tidied and cleaned kitchen

    Hoovered downstairs
Washing, which I need to put on the aired
Starting clearing all the rubbish out of the nursery to be
Started putting 23000 photos in folders

More than I've done all week
