I've been splitting and re-potting plants from the conservatory. I've discovered that my beautiful white-flowering jasmine appears to be dying off, no idea why. I'm desperately trying to save it as it was covered in flowers around Christmas time, and it was given to me by a good friend who died in January. I really, really want to save it. :(

Oh Laurel, 6 months without a day off, thats not good. Its only when you stop that it hits you. I often worked 50 hour weeks, working round the kids so sometimes on the laptop at 11pm at night or 5am in the morning. I dont know how I survived it but thats one bit of work that I dont miss!

Buffy, your post made me smile, it all sounds so exciting! Just trust your instincts, if it feels wrong then you will know.

Been rainy and cold here, kids have been playing out and got drenched and filthy - more clothes to go on the airer - just what I need! Have actually had the heating on a bit this aft.

Thanks for your kind thoughts and words about DS - it means so much to me. Treatment is set for 9th May so keep everything crossed for us. He has done far too much over the last few days, went out playing today and came in all rosy cheeked and happy looking. Consultant says not to let him get too tired but stuff it, he can sleep all next week!

Oh and before I go I am going to confess that behind the monitor my desk is really really disgusting. I have just noticed. It means that I have to move all the c**p to clean it but it will have to be done. Tomorrow.

Just garden tidying today. And quite an MSE day, too. I moved a few things around (got a redcurrant out of a pot, dug up a couple of cultivated blackberries that looked like weeds where I'd put them originally and planted them up against a sunny fence, planted rhubarb and fennel and some perennial geranium that I'd hurriedly hacked out and flung into pots because they were in the way of the path, emptied the rubbish strawberry planter that always dries out, and replanted the decent one with the winter survivors from both.

Most MSE of all, I moved an existing large potted tree to where I'd already decided we needed a potentially pricey focal point. About four inches at a time, but I moved it. :p And it looks great :)

*Not* MSE, save that they were half regular garden centre price, my box plants look fantastic flanking the path. And by pure coincidence, the colour of the stone planters I already had picks up the colour of the path edging. They seem to have given the whole garden a lift and I'm very, very happy. :T

    Housework? :rotfl:

Yorkshirelass, so lovely that your ds has been able to be a 'normal' youngster for today. My eyes fill with tears just typing that, but you know what I mean. <hugs>

I know exactly what you mean about behind the computer. It constantly surprises me (or maybe the word is 'shock') how much and how quickly dirt etc collects. I noticed last week that there was a massive spider's web in the corner, near the floor, and it was a mass of tiny flies and dust. Hadn't seen the resident, but the web's gone now. Still a lot of grime on the carpet and skirting board, but it would involve moving all the wiring, and ..... well, suffice it to say that it still there.

Your garden's sounding really good, laurel. Any chance of some pics? Our local garden centre has a corner for 'reduced' plants (somewhat amusing picture comes to mind!), but I bought 3 healthy little alpine type phlox plants, which have been planted in gaps in the raised bed.

Still haven't cleared all the card-making stuff away, but 3 files of papers got to the cupboard! And I cleaned the hob - again.

Hi messies, been out with mum all day - we had a lovely day rootling around charity shops, then off to a garden centre for lunch and a browse around.

I've also brought home three of the tomato plants that mum grew from seed - I have put them in an extra large windowsill trough inside my patio doors and hopefully they will be happy enough there. When I tried growing them outdoors here they produced loads of tomatoes but only a few ripened before summer was over.

In doing that I managed to sprinkle compost around the living room floor - I've just managed to hoover that up but am completely knackered now!

So much to catch up on from today - buffy how wonderful, hope he's a lovely guy and everything goes well on Friday! Well done everyone making progress too.

I haven't had time to get on with the Easter Quilt, but hopefully tomorrow I can do a bit more. I'm not sure how long the binding will take me, I think I'll have to do that by hand sewing as I don't have a specialist "foot" for my machine.

Hugs all round, take 'em if you want 'em!

Morning messies, I'm going to try to have a more productive day today. I have got some washing in the machine, and am about to put the breadmaker on as well. Then I might just mop the kitchen floor!

I plan to get a bit of quilting in today too.

Hope everyone is well and happy today - can't believe it's Thursday already, the holiday has gone so fast for me.

    I cancelled the date. :o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o

I basically feel like such a failure at the moment. And he was so successful (and ok it may not have been true etc) and knew lots of stuff which I once knew but don't now. And really clever.

TO be perfectly honest everything just feels like a struggle right now. a real big sodding messy struggle. I know I should rise to the occasion and think positively but I just cannot do it. not today.

The thought of getting all dolled up and being rejected was just too much to take.

I wish I could cry, instead I have a stinking headache and feel utterly sorry for myself! which I also hate.

    Sorry everyone.
    Nevertheless she persisted.

Ahhhh Buffy c'mere and have this enormous hug!

You know what? You made a decision, and that's something to be proud of. In a bit you might feel more confident, or maybe you'll just bump into Mr Right by accident one day. Whatever happens, I think you should hold your head up and say "I made a decision that was right for me at the time."

I'm not a believer in forcing myself into socialising when I feel insecure or inadequate (which is most of the time to be really honest).

And don't you dare say sorry for feeling crap! What a world this is when we are supposed to be thin, fit, attractive, uber competent and successful domestically, socially and financially all the time or we're failures.

Bollorks! I'm overweight, not very pretty, single and poor, and of course my house is a MESS, but I do enjoy life and I do make a positive difference to other people's lives too. I bet you do as well if you stop and think about it.

Starting to sound like a lecture now, definitely not what I meant it to be! Have a duvet day, eat some chocolate, watch some cheesy TV or DVDs and just look after yourself. HUG!

Right, I've managed to make bread, so that's one thing accomplished today. Just going to have some lunch then maybe get some quilting done.
