    Happy Easter everybody :)

I've finally got on top of my bathroom now, I think! It's been spotless for way over a week :rotfl: I've got into a routine of washing down the tiles and screen when finished in the shower, then wiping down everywhere when I get out. Let's hope it stays that way :D

The living room is better too, only takes me about 10 minutes to tidy up, hoover and polish now, used to take me about an hour! :rotfl:

We bought some clothes rails from Ikea and got rid of the broken wardrobes so most of the clothes are hung up, just got to buy some more hangers. Trying to kid myself my spare bedroom is really a lovely walk in wardrobe haha :rotfl:

Kitchen and spare bedroom are a bit of a mess because we sorted lots of stuff out for a car boot and haven't done it yet...so gotta put up with that lying around until next weekend (doing it next weekend come rain or shine!)

Kitchen is clean though, done all the washing up and cleaned the oven, work tops etc. Had a sort of under the stairs too. Just gotta sweep and mop.

Utility room and downstairs toilet are next on my list of things to get undre control, we use the downstairs toilet for storage and it's a bit of a mess so need to sort that out.

The most important thing I think, is that i'm actually enjoying doing housework at the moment  I love seeing my house all nice and tidy, I spend most of my time here so I should look after it better.

Really hope I keep it up :)

  • Hello Messies xxx

Extra hugs going for people feeling a bit slapped about by life and the mess xxxx

I had a weird day yesterday. We had guests which as you all know meant a massive shove everything into cupboards to make the place presentable........Also mad hoovering and light dusting.

I had ordered the guine pigs a new cage and it has be sitting in the hall for a while so I decided to put it up yesterday - in the midst of all the crap downstairs going upstairs. So you can imagine what my room looked like.

So guests arrive, I had literally just finished hoovering (plus the bathroom looked lovely) and rushed downstairs to greet them. And then my foot turned over and I fell. and then there was pain. Lots. With the guests standing in the doorway.

    :o:o:o:o:o:o:o_pale_:cry::o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o

So I struggled through dinner and the rest of the evening really freaking painful. The relief when they left was amazing!

Any how if you remember my room was a mess. no where to sleep. hmmm. So I ended up sorting it all out bar two boxes. My foot was killing by the end of it but I was glad to wake up this morning in a tidy room with clean sheets and happy pets! oo and carpet space!!

I have a long way to go still but am pleased with the results. I really think I am weird tho, in pain yesterday I did more than I had all morning. And often I will stay up late and leave things to the last minute(hence the mess) to FORCE myself to do them. very odd.

    hugs again xxxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.

As Kitty said, buffy, OUCH!!! I hope you've put some support on your ankle, or it's gonna get worse! It's amzing what sheer determination, or stubborness, can achieve, isn't it?

Well done, hayley, you're putting the rest of us to shame - or setting a great example of what can be done. Take your pick! ;)

Well done to you, too, kitty, with all that's going on in your head atm. You take care, hunbun!

Re key electricity; when dd1 moved down to Pompey from Surrey, OH hired a van, took her and all the stuff she'd acquired for her unfurnished flat, plus LOADS of books. He helped her move everything in, stayed a while to make sure all was ok, and drove back up the A3. We were almost at the point of going to bed, when dd rang to say that her electricity had gone, and she didn't know how or what to do. OH drove back down again (in his car this time), and worked out it was a key system. DD hadn't been told, and we'd never come across it before! Worrying on your first night in your own home. :(

What a nice afternoon we`ve had....ours is a Real Ale pub, so I convince myself that imbibing there is `healthy-ish`...and the fire was lit, and the folks are nice, you know? Friendly, but not loud or intrusive. Nicest thing is the senior `mine host`, sharp & subtle but kindly sense of humour, much of it lost there but it truns the place smoothly...knows our names, but always greets us with `Hello You Two, how are you?` He was the first to `acknowledge` me & OH as a `couple`, and this greeting goes back awhile and still gives us a warm glow. So does the ale.
Kitty, swearing is only offensive if it is mindless, used like punctuation, or loud, or MEANT to give offence. Otherwise, it exists in our language for a very good reason, it is a helpful and valid part of language and expression, and I can`t see anyone could take offence at anything you`ve posted.
Hope I`ve not offended anyone either.
Re Electric Key meters - AND Gas Cards too, for that matter...I still have both. And yes, they are a nuisance. I usually put 20-30 quid on the electric at a time, then forget about it, and 50-60 quid on the gas card.
It`s a leftover from darker times, but I`ve never got round to doing anything about it and I`d like to....sometime....OH keeps saying I should deal with it, but `SODDIT` I deal with everything else, don`t I?
Kitty - `watching flushed away` - I still have DS`s old potty (he`s 40 this year and and much more obnoxious than I`d hoped for him then) but we had that ritual, and used to wave it off as we flushed. Thanks for that memory, and enjoy your young while they are young!!

Buffy - "Slapped about by life & the mess" - I LOVE it! What a brilliant summing up that is! I hope your foot is ok now, Bless you. A well-placed bag of frozen peas is well worth considering.... I do the `last minute` thing too, or leave things till I get a combination of time-off and `the Urge`(also referred to by a Geordie ex-colleague as `Nesting`, & by my dear late Hubby who explained my domestic aberrations from the norm
in years gone by to the kids as "yer Mam`s got Worms!")

Hayley - well done you for keeping on top of things. It`s harder than you make it sound, but it does make you feel good about doing stuff rather than letting it slide and then feeling all `what`s the point?` again. My place veers from one extreme to the other, mostly depending what shifts I` on at work. OH doesn`t make any mess, but also doesn`t feel it`s his place to interfere when DS & DGD are here and I`m not, which is fair comment.
I`m building up to a week off at the end of this rota, and a clear-out of caravan & spare bedroom - rather than just another `tetris`. And this may mean WAR with DS. Am bracing myself already, plus dropping heavy hints. ANY progress will be something.Meanwhile, for me, just `keeping on top of` LR & kitchen is an achievement, while laundry, shopping & cooking, between work, somehow goes on regardless because it has to.
Not a winge, just a philosophical comment.
The real ale helps...so does waffling on here to you lovely Messies!
I`m experimenting for supper, satay pork steaks with rice noodles red peppers and whatever else comes to hand. I like experimenting, doesn`t feel like a chore! OH having disco-nap, DS has a friend here, like having the place to myself for a bit...
off to make a fire now & change into my `cinders` gear...

Crikey we've dropped to the third page!

I love "cinders gear" Emm, I do that too... as soon as I get in I put my house clothes on because if I don't, I wreck my good clothes with bleach or something!

Well the weather is still carp so I will be spending a day on my quilting I think. It's actually really hard to hand quilt - I've developed a great admiration for those oldsters who could do it with neat and even stitches.

    Hi all

My thoughts are with you, Yorkshirelass, and all hopes and best wishes for the treatment xxxx

Still doing...virtually nothing. I went to bed on Thursday afternoon, and didn't really get up until Saturday. Still bone weary. It turns out that I can no longer recover from six months without a day off within a couple of days, or even, I'm starting to fear, a couple of weeks.

This morning, I picked up a 2p coin from my bedroom floor and took it to the coin jar downstairs. Then put away the jigsaw while warming milk for my coffee in the microwave. And that might be my victories for the day.

On the plus side, I've managed to put in a few hours towards the cross stitch picture I started for my mum...ummm...fifteen years ago. It's at the backstitching stage, so a couple more decent sessions should finish it. Unfortunately, my "decent sessions" seem to be about a year apart...

I've managed to measure and photograph some things from the garage to Ebay or Freegle. Then was too tired to list them..but I'll get there.

Anyway, up and out...tutoring. Which probably isn't helping, the truth be told. But hey ho. Only twenty three years to retirement :rotfl:

Hugs Laurel, six months without a day off is way too long - hope you manage to get some quality relaxation time soon. Little victories are important... just getting the dishes washed up here is an achievement.

I am studiously ignoring the dreadful mess upstairs. I had hoped to do it over Easter but with one thing and another cropping up I haven't had the several days off in a row that it will take to motivate me to have a go at it.

    Morning!

I know I sound like i'm really on top of things, and I sort of am but believe me it won't last :rotfl: All it'll take it for me to be a bit poorly (either in my head or a bug or something) or i'll have a mad week of work and it'll all be a mess again.

I'd love to be one of those people that always has a clean and tidy house but sadly I am not and unless I have a personality transplant (or hire a cleaner :rotfl:) I never will be.

Sending love and hugs to all that need it :) xx
