I never would have realised that the pattern is made with overlapping circles. Isn't that clever? :)

The previous owners of our bungalow were here just three years, and replaced the original 70s bathroom. Sadly, they did it on the cheap, and it was very poorly done, complete with very old-fashioned tiles - goodness knows where they found them! MiL left us some money two years ago, so we decided to spoil ourselves, and we've found a plumber with an excellent reputation, who'll help us make the most of what little space we have. This place will be our home in our old age, so it's got to good.

Yes, it's a very effective pattern and quite easy to do for a beginner like me. If you use that method and put a square of wadding in each "window", you have a complete quilt as well. I might try that after my current project.

That's so exciting about your bathroom - something that will have to be in the distant future for me, but I can dream!

So sorry for your loss, Kitty .:(

    Faaaaaab pillow, jps!!!! :T

I'm not sure my garden is much more finished than yours, sonastin, The hard landscaping is in, and the trees, but I'm not going to rush with anything else. I've spent too long taking somebody else's mistakes *out*.

Good luck with the bathroom, bearcub. You're absolutely right to have it done in one go. I had my horrid avocado (family) bathroom and dark grey (ensuite) done on the cheap a couple of years back, and I've been...not quite regretting it...but wishing I'd had one done properly instead of two cheaply ever since. I bought second hand suites from Ebay, and although they're fabulous quality (the bath is so snowy white that water run into it looks blue), some of the fittings aren't quite perfect. And mostly it's the tiles. I still have the original tiles-white with fake "marble" markings-in avocado and dark grey to match the ex suites. I thought they might not look too bad once the white suites were in.....

Hence the gradual de-artexing of ceilings, I suppose. I've promised myself that every room will be done *properly* from now on.

Anyway....have done nothing. Lazy Sunday, though I went out to buy some glyphosate for the bits of lawn now within the bed edging, and some grass seed for the bits of bed now without. In a state of near-collapse on Monday until I remembered I'd forgotten to take my tablets (routine gone with the holidays), and went to London yesterday. We're taking an early Eurostar later in the summer, and I wanted to test-run the parking space we've rented near St Pancras. So we pottered around both Tates, had a meal, remembered why it's definitely easier and cheaper to take the train if possible (the price of Travelcards ) and drove home through relentless rain. Fortunately, it looks as though some of it fell on the garden, too. I think we could probably use about a month's worth. :D

I'm doing really well with my mess lately, had a mad spring clean during the nice weather and doing ok keeping on top of it, so far! Got lots of stuff sorted out for a car boot sale on Easter Monday.

My husband is so lazy and I feel like i'm constantly tidying up after him, so i'm treating him like a child! :rotfl: I'm giving him one tiny job to do and until he's got that down, I won't give him anymore, his first job is putting his shoes under the bedside cabinet when he takes them off, he did it all by himself yesterday :T:rotfl: His next little job is to put his toothbrush and the toothpaste back in the pot...baby steps! :D

I really need to sort out getting some new wardrobes or something because that is a major issue, either I let the dirty washing pile up or I have piles of clean washing everywhere :rotfl: But the wardrobe and drawers are broken so I don't have anywhere to put most things. I've tried freecycle but i've found unless you're checking it all day long, you don't get anything.

Hope you don't mind me waffling away.... :)
 Think happy & you'll be happy

I have had the kids helping me and now have downstairs nice and tidy, still clutter that could go but will go gradually, mainly kids books and toys.

Now upstairs! Landing is full of washing & towels over banister. Bathroom, mostly clean but lots of washing and rubbish scattered about. Ds room, ok ish, he is parked in there on Xbox so not really messing up. Dd room, piles of washing to put away, basket of books, need to sort out for cousins/eBay/charity shop. My room is the worst, dumping ground clothes everywhere, wardrobes overflowing and broken drawers.

I need to do a little bit per day otherwise I get overwhelmed, today I aim to clear landing, tidy bathroom and fill one charity bag from wardrobe....of I go....:)

    Hi all

Sorry to hear of your sad news Kitty, hope you are OK.

Hope the date goes well Buffy!

Oh and bathrooms - I hate mine, old peach flowerly tiles wall to ceiling and grim taps that were once gold effect. Cant afford to do anything about it for now though. At least the suite is white!

Well the garden is cleared, the new shed is stacked with things and we are just left with a small pile to take to the skip. We all slept in this morning and forgot to put the bin out - major disaster as they arent coming again for 2 weeks!

Very tired tonight, been at hospital all day for routine tests with DS. Back again tomorrow morning then I thought I would take the kids somewhere. We were thinking of going away at the weekend but the forecast isnt great and to be honest I could do with the money for other things.

Off to collapse on the sofa and watch some telly.

    Evening meessies.

Nearly got in here a couple of times earlier today, but other things kept getting in the way.

Laurel and jps, we lived in our previous house for more than 20 years, before re-furbishing the bathroom. Had it done just as we wanted it, for a couple of years, then we moved. I had no problem leaving the house - we had been wanting to move here for 16 years -but I'd have liked to have been able to take the bathroom and the garden! Not terribly practical, though, really.

Hayley, you waffle away, love. We all do, at one time or another. ;) I love the expression 'baby steps'. It's something my dd2 often says, usually when trying to get her bf to help with the housework.

I don't think I knew you had piggies, Buffy! How many do you have? We've had piggies for the last 5 years or so - one of those spontaneous happenings as we were passing the RSPCA centre one day. Love 'em! :)

Yorkshirelass, those hospital visits must be exhausting. How is your ds?

De-messying? Er, not a lot tbh, but I have made bread and some very large hot cross buns! OH said they're very good. Daren't try one tonight, as I'm bound to end up with heartburn, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow.

I visited one of the local residential homes this morning, to take part in an Easter service. Sadly, most of the residents don't know what's going on, but some of them recognised the old hymns, which was good to see. :)

We have had NO rain at all. This afternoon, looking out of the back window, the sky was clear blue; looking out of the front window, the sky was black. Online, a friend in Hants told me that it had just poured there, and the rain was heading our way. Nope! It just headed off towards the sea, and the sun came out again. Lovely to see, but we really, really need some rain, and so do the farmers. :(
