    Hi all

Very little decluttering, cleaning or anything remotely housework like going on here. Been out for a 10 mile bike ride with DS today and I am sooo tired. Might not be able to get out of bed in the morning. Pathetic eh, and I thought I was fairly fit!

Thanks Bearcub, DS1 is still poorly unfortunately and about to start some aggressive treatment that may make him better - or may make him worse. We have had to make the decision to go ahead with this even though there could be dire consequences if it goes wrong. We just have to keep hoping that something works.

Oh and the car wash, thats a luxury I miss because I hate washing the car but needs must and I do try to keep on top of it or else its such hard work.

Hugs to everyone feeling under the weather, hormonal or just a bit down. I am off to bed to rest my achy bones!
  • Happy Easter Messies!
My house is a TIP! (2 long days at work, nothing but trashing done here)
My car is a TIP! (the outside of it is clean but only cos it got rained on)
I`m so knackered I feel hung-over but without any tipsy cause!
I now have 3 days off, and a sore throat....
Things may get better or worse. Or stay the same. Whatever.
I`ll post again later when I`ve decided....

Happy Easter and hugs to all. Special hugs for Yorkshirelass, hope your DS1's treatment works for him.

Emm, isn't that always the way? I spend the first couple of days off from any holiday recovering from being knackered from working! Hope you do feel better very soon.

My house is still a tip but I've done the washing up and a couple of loads of washing. That's plenty, my hormones are still acting up and there's chocolate to be eaten!

Will attempt to assemble my quilt today, with the filling and the backing... eek! This is a very tricky bit apparently.

Yorkshirelass - I do hope your son`s treatment goes well and soon. It`s hard having to make decisions like this, don`t you just wish sometimes that it`s not left to you. Of course it`s right for folks to make informed choices about treatments etc., but it can be very stressful too. (One of my patients recently said she wished it was`like the old days, when the Doc told you what to do and that was that`. We could never go back to those ways, but I did understand what she meant!) Hugs ((()))anyway, to you and your DS!.
Bearcub, those conversations you describe are a frequent feature at work, and I must admit I never tire of hearing them!
JPS, good luck with the tricky bits! I`m sure the chocolate will help. (I don`t do `hormones` anymore, but there`s always some other excuse for chocolate!)

Hugs((())) also to all doing or who have done crafty and cakey things, especially with kids! I have no such excuses for my messy status here, and anyway, I`m still all caked-out by my recent `Herman cake` experience!!! Had a little natter with my next-door pal while filling the bin earlier, started out we were wondering if the bins will be emptied tomorrow, went on to a mutual moan about being the only ones in our respective homes who know where the bin IS, and how fast the mess builds up and we are the only ones who do anything about it etc.,...but I didn`t mention CAKE! She`s one of the folks I passed on some `Herman-mix to, and I`m worried she might try to give me some back!

I have untrashed the kitchen now, `twas a bit of a marathon so thought I deserved a coffee break! I was going to mop the floor as well, but said sodditt as it`s drizzling and Daftie-dog is wanting to wander in & out so it`d dry mucky anyway. I`ve put her bed in the washer so she`s a bit lost about where to settle, and she`ll be worse when I finish my coffee & get going again because I`m going to tackle LR next, shake the rugs outside & hoover.
Then I`ll put the whoopsied carvery leg of lamb in the oven, have a shower & shampoo, (which I`ll be in even MORE need of after shaking the rugs!) and put another load in the WM & make a fire to dry my hair and the washing! Sounds like a plan, am feeling much better now that I`ve made a decent start.
OH did suggest an afternoon at the pub, but aren`t I good? I declined. Mostly on the grounds of my present unsightliness, hair in rats` tails & bags under eyes, etc.,so he`s gone off upstairs to read or probably disco-nap, and we`ll go tomorrow instead.
Right, I`m off to do a bit more...

    Afternoon messies.

Kitty, those cakes are so good! Well done to you and ds. :T So sorry to hear the depression's still hanging over you like a black cloud, and I hope the spring will blow it all away very soon.

Jps, like Emms, I can no longer blame my chocolate eating on hormones, nor use it as a medicine. I just eat it, although I'm a little careful these days as to how much I eat. Good luck with the sewing.

Yorkshirelass, how difficult that must be, to have to make such a decision. I'll be sending 'positive vibes' your way. <hugs>

Emms, I'm sure you have some of the best reasons for not getting de-messying done. You spend your working life running around after others, even if you love your job. Catching up at home when you're exhausted must be so hard. Your tales of the Herman cake make me :rotfl:
Your reasons for not going to the pub remind me of our dd2. She and her bf had been going through a really bad patch - all better now - but the stress has had physical effects, a cold sore last week, and a stye this week. The last time she and bf were in their local pub, they had a huge row. She daren't go to the pub until her eye's better, as it looks bruised. She doesn't want anyone to think he's been thumping her!

The house isn't too messy. Because our bathroom's being done in 2 weeks time, I'm keeping the washing well under control and, because Mum's coming over for dinner tonight, I've dusted and vacuumed - not something I'd usually do on a Sunday. I've just about made all the birthday cards I need for the next couple of months, so a lot of materials have been put away. I do, though, have a wedding card to make for the beginning of next month.

Hi all, thanks for the kind words. To be honest I didnt realise how many decisions we would have to make about DS and his treatment. The doctors keep spelling out the risks involved because they dont want us to blame them if it goes wrong which I understand - but then they tell us this treatment is the best option which makes it all so much harder. I cant even begin to hope that this treatment might make him well enough to go to school or just do some normal kids stuff without being absolutely shattered or in pain.

But anyway, best not to dwell on it too much, need to keep thinking about other things.

Emm reading your post I thought you had put your dog in the washer. I need some new contact lenses I think. Well done for declining the pub, I think one sniff of alcohol and I would be asleep. We have been repairing the fence which is nearly done thank goodness!

HM Pizza and wedges for tea, I need to rummage in the freezer and see if I can find anything interesting to make into pizza topping!

Hi messies, hope everyone is managing to enjoy the day even if it is pouring down. I'm doing a bit of what I am now calling my Easter Quilt, and although my hand quilting is a bit (well ok a lot) wonky it's not too bad and I'm improving as I practise.

Off to drive rellies about in a bit... happy bank holiday everyone!

  • Hi Messies! My bit of effort here yesterday seems to have paid off, kitchen & LR still quite reasonable if you don`t look TOO closely at the kitchen floor or the clutter around the computer & windowsill etc in here! Daftie-dog is snoring happily in her clean bed so the `old-dog` aroma is less strong....
I`ve curled my hair (well, slept with it in a bun), plucked my chin & cut my toenails, so today I feel like a new woman!
Nobody has asked me to run them anywhere or shop for anything, which is unusual...off to get ready now to go down the pub. Enjoy your day, folks!

Tut tut, kitty! ;) So you have problems sleeping when you're depressed? Do you lose your appetite, too? Key electricity (I gather that's what you have) is a pain, isn't it? Dd1 had it in her first flat.

Lovely that your mum and stepdad wanted to spend Easter with you both. Sounds as if your ds is everthing a young child should be, enjoying the rain. Splashing in puddles, I assume? :)

    Enjoy your restful day, Emms!

Bit wet here. OH has just come in and said that the river has already flooded the footpath that runs alongside, and is just starting to flood the road. Obviously no gardening today. :(

House is reasonably tidy, and I've just swept the kitchen floor, and cleaned worktops and hob. Thinks that's enough for now. ;)
