Afternoon messies.
Don't start feeling a failure, laurel, because housework's got a bit left behind. It happens to all of us (hence 'the messies'!) and, when you think of it, particularly at this time of year, there are much more important things to be interested in. Think of all the gardening you've got done! Your 2p coin to the jar reminds me of Penelope Keith in the Good Life, picking runner beans! :rotfl:
Hayley, don't run yourself down - you did a whole a load of de-messying. Be proud of yourself, whatever happens later.
Well done, Kitty! Are you feeling any better? My dd2 makes cheese pinwheels, something she learned at school, and has stuck with her. They're a great favourite of her sister's.
I think everyone's been very busy recently, cos I've come on here several times, to find no-one's been around. Thought it might have been my fault!
Beoootiful day here today, all the clouds have passed us by. DD2 up in Surrey had an enormous thunder storm earlier, but just sun and wind here. No de-messying in the house, but OH and I have had a good tidy up in the garage. We ordered all the bits for our bathroom this morning, and we were told nearly all of it should be here before the end of the week. Panic to clear space, cos the plumber won't be coming until the 23rd.0 -
I`m here! Well done Kitty, you`ve been busy today!
JPS, I too am ignoring upstairs for now - plan on spending some of my hols there next week!0 -
Not too hopeless a day in the end. I came back from tutoring, got changed, went out into the garden and managed several small tidying jobs. Cooked dinner, went out to a small garden centre I'd spotted recently, where I bought nothing I was looking for, but two bargain box balls I wasn't. I have two beautiful square sandstone planters (present from the ex, years ago) that have been sitting empty since...umm...I killed off the box balls that were in them before. Still, ever the optimist...:rotfl:
Did some fiddly bits on the embroidery. Still two good sessions away from finishing, I think. Maybe threeimport this0 -
Just got back from a few days at my mum's caravan by the seaside. It was really nice to get away from the building site and to spend some quality time with OH again. Recently its been feeling like I see less of him now than I did when we lived 250 miles apart and only spent weekends together! I really appreciate my beautiful new kitchen but his working 12 hour days 7 days a week was starting to be a problem!
Anyway home now and the house is FREEZING! Obviously had to switch off the electric heaters while we were away and they are taking forever to warm the place back up. I think OH has just cracked and gone to get the fan heater from the garage to give things a bit of a boost.
I've got one more day off before back to work on Thursday. Got a few errands to run in town tomorrow but then I suppose I should spend some time tracking down all the boxes of kitchen stuff and unpacking into my lovely new kitchen. Some of it is still at my gran's - she thinks I can't need it as she's been looking after it for about 18 months! Looking forward to being able to do proper baking and stuff. Should probably unpack and do something about the washing from our little holiday too!
But for now I'm going to snuggle under this blanket and enjoy being home again.
Hugs to all that need them - missed out on so many posts while we are away that there's too many to mention by name but thinking of you all...0 -
I have had a funny old day really.
started off ok, put the new filter on the fish tank - cleaned up the water really well! then I felt really ill and it took me ages to get going and frankly I didn't get going again. Watched some tv with Mum and then fell asleep...for THREE hours.
then it was dinner. And then my BEST part of the day was texting the new guy from an online dating website. He is so nice. I really hope a. he isn't a nutjob or weirdo and b. He likes me when he meets me.
I Reallyreally really like him REALLY. I am trying to play it cool. Semi failure. he sent me pictures of where he lives tonight. And I was sort of wondering if that was weird and then I decided I like it so who cares(but if anyone thinks that is weird please let me know I am a bit caught up in the moment)
I am meeting him Friday. Have I mentioned that I like him?
My foot is a lot better (advice from said man helped) and so tomorrow I am off to homebase for a decent tv aerial and a lamp. then it is paperwork - I did some tonight and started a Scrapbook of memories as interspersed with the bank statements and resources there are collections of memories from some of the places I have been (no where exciting! but I enjoyed myself!) I really ought to go to bed.
just 15 minutes on this one box I brought down.

Morning Messies - Hugs to all. Just had a quick read but no time to post now, off to work - at least I`ll forget the mess when I`m there! xx0

Morning
I was really tired last night and didn't really read the thread, sorry
Just wanted to say I was thinking of Yorkshirelass xx
and that box? I never touched it last night, didn't actually know what the time was! however this morning I sorted the contents in about 10 minutes. been at the end of my bed forever! TEN minutes. grrr!
moral - nothing takes as long as you think it does!
Have a good one folks xxxNevertheless she persisted.0 -
Afternoon messies.
Do you really like this man, then, Buffy? Do you know, I'd never have thought so.I hope all works out well for you, just make the first couple of meetings somewhere public. I'm pleased to hear that your foot is better. As for the box, isn't it amazing how some tasks seem so much worse than they actually are? Dd2 and I have said exactly the same thing about dying our hair.
Odd weather here today. Lots of threatening clouds about but, apart from a few drops of rain, it's been fine. The sun is fighting back! :T
Managed to finish the wedding card, all except the greeting, which I've got to get from somewhere. Don't have anything sutable in my massive collection, as weddings aren't events I get to go to very often. So, now, I can actually clear all my card-making materials away! :j Have made a loaf and done a wash.0 -
I spent part of the morning playing with the puppies. The main aim was to clean part of the garden which I also did.
Put six bags of rubbish in the car along with three large cardboard boxes. was all chuffed with myself. drove to the tip. Tip Shut. Till Friday. Car will stink. unhappy Buffy.
grrrr.
and I have lots of work to do. double Grrr.
hope you ladies are having a better day xxxNevertheless she persisted.0
