Evening messies.
Sounds as if the SW visit went well, adela, despite your fears. You're a good mum, they're not criticsing you, just your accommodation. Sounds as if they admire you for coping admirably with it.
Laurel, don't let it get you down. You'll catch up one day, really you will. Just remember, try to clear things up as you go - but maybe a couple more than just seed catalogues, huh?
Emms, the car insurance wasn't quite that straighforward. If I'd called my usual insurer, there wouldn't have been all the preamble. It's because I had to arrange cover via the dealership, so that they can tax the car and we can drive it home next week. The dealer has to have a cover note by then, and I couldn't be sure of getting one from my old insurer, to the showroom, in time. As it happens, though, the annual payment will be considerably lower than my old insurer could give me, so I'll be going with them, anyway. Their quote is £60 lower than what I paid last year, for a car that's 5 years older! Pretty good OS saving, I'd say.
Managed to get a WM load on, and a loaf going in the BM, before going to the yard this morning. A friend who has 3 ponies is away until Sunday, so we're looking after them as well as out two.
It's been a lovely day here today, so what did another friend and I do? Went to see a film (The Exotic Marigold Hotel) this afternoon. I don't usually have the patience to sit and watch a whole film, but it was very good - gentle, occasionally funny, occasionally tear-jerking and, for me, quite thought-provoking.0 -
I filed six items from my desk-does that count?
Have cleaned half my bathroom and made half a case for my Kindle. Desperate to do something even mildly creative, but I fear this half-done thing may be my pattern for the week. Still, I did half the dishes and then remembered to make the offspring do the other half...is that a finished job?:rotfl:
So...half a Kindle case and half a bathroom to go...I came upstairs for thread, but I suspect the loo cleaner has soaked for long enough....import this0 -
Tell me, ladies, please.
One of the issues I have with my bathroom is that the cabinet is so irredeemably manky I don't want to put anything in it. It isn't dirty, as such, just plastic, 20+ years old and yellowed to a mucky primrose colour.
What I'd really like is an aluminium/steel one, but the slimline ones (and it's a small room) are horribly expensive.
I was calculating whether I could afford one a few days ago, then bought something for dd instead. However, I have been piggybanking money each month for a new bedroom carpet, and there's enough in that account to cover it.
Should I:
Buy the nice one and enjoy it?
Buy a cheap, bulky one as a stopgap, knowing that I'll probably "make it do" for another 20 years? Because I do that sort of thing
Wait a few more months (and probably spend my carpet fund on one child or another anyway).
Your opinions, pleaseimport this0 -
This is Oh's own flat, he owns a second house but doesnt want to live in the North East, hence its quite nice that the social were giving him a kick up the bum for me... but the gasps of shock, oh dear.
I have been trying to clean, due to alergies I now have a really sore nose and throat ((0 -
(and oh yeah, their practical support was to suggest I do a little each day, well I do, a little isnt enough lol)0

Iv been busy in the house and out of it. My dad has been taken into hospital with a blood clot in his calf. I had to bully and scare him into going as he was putting it off. His blood is too thick so they are treating him with a blood thinner and taking a pint of blood a day. He has more scans tomorrow but this time on his stomach.
Iv been cleaning the downstairs and doing as much washing as possible . It smells nice now as the dog got a shower too.
It was my birthday on wed and oh on thur. I dont like getting older and keep looking for the wrinkles.
Emm Iv clipped some of his claws but getting him to keep still is another matter. Iv been walking him on the concrete but to be honest it would take months to get them to a decent size. Ill try the nail grinder alongside the weekly clipping.
Adela it sounds as if you could do with some practical help rather than a sw pointing out the obviouse.
Well Im going to bed as Im cream crackered.
Take care everyone.0 -

Buy the nice one and enjoy it, Laurel. It will lift your spirits! I bought one from M&S (slimline) a couple of years ago and I've never regretted it, even though I had to go without new curtains for the kitchen. The curtains weren't bugging me as much as the manky cabinet anyway.
Look on it as an investment (I can always justify things by saying that)!;)Normal people worry me.0 -

IMO this what you should do.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases
One income, home educating family0 -
Afternoon messies.
If you're registered with a Freecycle or Freegle site, Laurel, you could perhaps ask if anyone has one to get rid of, but make it clear in the request that it has to be in good condition. You can but ask! Otherwise, spoil yourself!
I hope your dad's coming on ok, snookey. What is it with men that they don't want to seek medical help?
Grey day here. got to help move some of my mum's furniture, after she had carpet fitted yesterday. Must have a shower afterwards, as I've not de-horsed yet, and I'm at a meeting tonight. Not going to get a lot done today, I suspect. Oh, have put dried washing away, or in basket for ironing.0 -
