My home is a mess

Helloo fellow messies. Living in a pig-sty here again. Went away for the weekend last weekend so I now have 2 weeks worth of carp build up to deal with. And OH has man-flu so cleaning, tidying, etc takes a back seat to playing nursemaid!
OH's plan for the weekend involves moving stored stuff from one end of the building site to the other so that he can progress on the building work when he's feeling better so might not actually
-clean bathroom
-clean kitchen*
-sort out the mountain in the ironing basket that I promised to sort out 2 weeks ago!
Could actually make a start now but pretty much CBA!
*thought I was keeping on top of the kitchen with wiping surfaces after every washing up session and occasionally sweeping/mopping the floor... then I looked at the kitchen tap! I now realise there is more to the kitchen than the floor and the worktops!
Adela - I reckon the SW's reaction was entirely unintended. Reckon they'd love to offer practical suggestions but you're probably already coping soooooo much better than they'd be able to in your situation that they don't really have any ideas to suggest! Take it as a compliment - and remind hubby that he's supposed to be doing more if he starts slacking again0 -

p.s - ill be getting my new cooker monday *happydance*
Might be joining that happydance soon if that's OK. Ordered new hob today! Shame OH won't get the gas connected to it for another couple of months, but at least my new kitchen has a floor nowWalls plasterboarded too. Paint happening next week & new window. Then units can start going in, worktops on, all that other magic that makes a new kitchen and I can start cooking in a space bigger than a postage stamp. Even if it is still on a camping stove :rotfl:

Thanks for your advice/backup/collusion all
I need to order items like this in the holidays, so I'll try very hard not to indulge the children until then...:D We're already living out of the freezer to pay for DD's Reading ticket. Well, it's a good excuse anyway... :rotfl:import this0 -

You can be a fly messy!! If that lot scare you too much come over here
Plans for the weekend, tackle the laundry monster if it rains (I only have indoor drying space anyway) or teach the boys to ride their bike without stabilisers if it doesnt. Now if only I could stop waking up in the middle of the night ...0 -
Teebird - Adela beat me to it, but there`s the answer - be a FlyMessy! Then either way you won`t feel you have `lapsed`!
Laurel - I agree with the collusion faction. If you settle for a cheap item that is NOT what you want you`ll be niggled by it, so that makes it a false economy. Also, if you put up with it for several years and THEN decide to buy the thing you really wanted, it will probably cost even more by then!
Snookey - hope your dad is on the mend, well done you for getting him to get it treated too. It`s sometimes `bullying` like yours that saves lives!
Messy status report -
It`s pretty dire, really.
Kitchen - Hmm. Had evening out with OH yesterday. DS `catered` for himself, egg/bacon/beans. And didn`t clear up after himself (probably just as well or the fallout after his efforts might look even worse!) Then I came home and made a chicken/leek/mushroom `pie` but without pie - decided to do chips and pour the stuff over them instead of pastry. VERY nice. Didn`t clear up after, just chilled.
Must do kitchen first.
LR - just clutter really, general untidiness, need to shake rugs outside while it`s not raining.
Laundry - last week`s uniforms need washing (always do them separate from other stuff) plus another load to go in, just clothes to keep on top of things.
Upstairs - don`t go there. I shan`t till bedtime, and tomorrow is another day!
Outside - it`s been windy, and my mop bucket and a couple of empty dogfood sacks have migrated down the garden from near the back door.
I put a couple of stale muffins out for the birds, and OH trod in them when getting a few logs in last night, so the yard needs brushing too.
Also need to go out for petrol, bread, & milk.
A whoopsied leg of lamb from the freezer needs cooking today, so that`s weekend meals sorted.
Nothing exciting or too gruelling, once I get started.
Drags self away to get started...0 -
well kids are finally sorting out their computer stuff and games for consoles plus the hamster corner its their rubbish they can move it then i can sort rest of room ive come to the conclusion that if they are big enough to mess it up they are big enough to tidy it up lets just hope dh backs me on it0

ds has a birthday party tommorow and i need to get a birthday card, but ill do that tommorow before the party.
feeling a bit run down, think my depressions getting bad again, and i had 3 teeth out thursday the top left wisdom tooth and the 2 teeth next to it... so feeling a bit delicate
better get my butt into gear
xx0 -
Poor Kitty, ((HUGS)) to you, no wonder you`re feeling delicate.
I too have to sort my rubbish. Well, everybody`s (I seem to be the only member of this household who knows where the bin is.)
I still have not tackled the kitchen.
Just come back from bread & milk shopping, then Farmshop - got a lovely cauli, carrots, bunches of fresh parsley & mint. and some big red peppers with flat bottoms so will probably stuff them for tomorrow (tonight`s lamb leftovers) I decided car has sufficient petrol fumes to wait another day. Put shopping away, filled a bag with rubbish from kitchen, then needed a coffee, so here I am again.
I think I`m not the only Messy who has this thing about `need to go out` versus `staying home & getting on with it`.
Perhaps doing the shopping etc. bits first, then having a clear run for doing home tasks is the answer. I`m putting this theory to the test today.0 -
Afternoon messies.
Teebird, fly messy sounds good to me!
Kitty, don't let yourself be too bothered about any mess indoors. While the weather's good, go out and get yourself some sun and some exercise. Our DD2 has suffered with depression longterm (she's on her way up now), and exercise has always done wonders for her head. In the meantime, <hugs>.
Our local farm shop has recently closed, Emms, so I'm quite jealous. A friend gave us a huge cauli a couple of days ago, grown by her neighbour. Friend didn't want it, as her OH doesn't like cauli. Fine by us!
Have done one load of washing, and it's drying nicely in the sun. Put on BM but, because we had a plumber here who could talk for England, I forgot the yeast.Result? Well, let's just say we had to reinforce the worktop before we tipped it out. :rotfl:
Have already been outside to prune a couple of plants, and I'm going back to the garden now, cos this weather's too good to waste!0
