Snookey - I`m so glad to hear you and your new dog are happy. We have had the same problem with doggy-claws, and it was because the dogs had mostly been walked or played on soft ground, grassy areas.

Well done those Messies who have been busy and productive in their homes/gardens... I haven`t!
Nat - shift patterns (or lack of any discernible pattern!) are the problem here, too! After a lovely productive week off, I`m now `back in harness`, and the house is back to its more normal state. I`ve done a couple of `long-days`, and got up today quite convinced I was on a late shift today. Fortunately, OH is home, and a chance discussion with him revealed that today is in fact WEDNESDAY, not Thursday. So I have a Late on Thursday. So today is a day off! That was quite a nice surprise.
    This sounds bad, doesn`t it?
Yesterday at work several people asked me the date, plus I wrote the date more times than I could count, but nobody asked me what day it was (good job too!) and I didn`t realise I`d been in a time warp... probably due to starting back after my holiday on the Sunday, and being in company with some very muddled patients in the last few days... but it`s ok, I`m better now. And I have the day off. And a bit of a lie-in tomorrow, which is my Late shift followed by an Early. This is all very nice, but it has caused disruption to my meal plans and shopping (had to check dates on bread & milk!)

Emm- Well i'm glad i'm not the only one who ends up as confused as the patients! ;)

I ended up doing 2 twilight shifts (sat + sun), till 2am, for 1to1. Wasn't really sure of my own name by 2am Monday morning, one minute i was Pat, then i was Sandra, then she would ask my name, and we'd start again. Day staff had left her asleep till 12pm on Sun!

I managed to get the kitchen usable yesterday, and i tried sorting the DW out, but it didn't really work, the load thats in there now is still not properly clean :(
OH got home yesterday and gave it the 'What have you done all day' line!! So i scooted around the living room, which happens to be the room i don't use!! My PC is in the kitchen and that is where i reside, all the time. I explained this to him, pointing out that i was therefore purely tidying up his and the kids mess, not my own, and that that made me a slave :p

Anyway, doing the living room took about 10mins so there was no reason i couldn't of got it done earlier in the day! Why i put all these things off i don't know?
The same has happened today! I have youngest DS off with icky eyes but i haven't got anything done!

Oh well, there's always tomorrow :)
    My debt- £762.17
    OH's debt- Est £16000

    Afternoon messies.

Well done busy messies, especially Emms and Nat, who can't remember which day they're on. Must be a nightmare. :(

Have vacuumed around today, including the very messy conservatory - it becomes a bit of a dumping ground during the winter - and have sorted yesterday's washing. The ironing basket is getting full, but I must get started on a Mother's Day card, as I'm out tomorrow, and going to be very busy next week, so the ironing will have to wait.

Long phone call to car insurers to insure new car for next week - how come the recorded explanation of rules and regs take considerbly longer than actually arranging the insurance?

Bit of a let-down over the quote for our bathroom re-fit. From the quote, and the fact that he reckons it'll take him two and a half weeks , I assume he doesn't want the job. The bathroom is the size of a large broom cupboard. so, we're going to have to look for at least one other quote. This man is the only decent plumber on this side of the IOW.

Shifts and nights really mess with your head! When I worked nights I once woke up on my day off (in the winter) and the digital clock said 5:00. For a fuddled while I didn't know if it was 5pm or 5am!

Well the nice social ladies came to visit and apart from a few quite audible gasps, their main point was the place is very small and how do I cook in that kitchen.

If anyone has ever had a "bijou" galley kitchen they are actually nice to cook in... ecerything is to hand and no one else can stand in there to get under your feet, unless they actually DO lie under your feet.

They also say the boys should have more room, their room is too small, what to they do if its raining (I didnt answer we wear a coat, should have done!)

So as for support, they very nicely pointed out to OH that I am obviously struggling, maybe he should do something? But their main suggestion was get somewhere bigger. Its a two bedroom flat, I would kill for a garden but doubt that will ever happen. Ho hum.
(she also seemed put out about no cups of tea, I thought they wouldnt want one, I have a bit of a mouse problem atm... what is the etiquet there!)

Are they going to do something to help your housing situation? And what about practical support? It's all very well visiting and making comments but action sounds like what you need, not words Adela. :)

Adela, it appears that your stressing over the SW visit wasn`t necessary, they aren`t `against` you, it sounds like they were on your side , at least telling OH! And as for support, they can`t just wave a wand and get you rehoused, but they CAN do you a letter or report to support YOUR application to be rehoused, but have you applied? I`m pretty sure that`s the way it works.
For the mouse problem, those sonic plug-ins do work.

Bearcub - You must be getting excited about the car now. I`m quite lucky because my bank and my insurance company still have PEOPLE at a counter in town where you can sort stuff face to face. Maybe old fashioned now, but far less stressful, and they still manage to get me the cheapest quotes each time!
I`m off to work in a bit, tonight`s curry is sorted, some dry washing put away, and anything else can wait till the weekend when I`m off again. I have an appointment in town after my early shift tomorrow, then a few free days. "Free" for shopping/cooking/cleaning up, that is.... I keep thinking that one of these days I will make some real drastic progress with the Messy thing, and baby steps are all very well - but here it always seems to be 2 steps forwards then 3 steps back!
    Have a nice afternoon all.

I have had the sort of day where binning the seed catalogues on my bed counts as a major victory.

That was on my way out of the door this morning. Things haven't improved since. Nor has the house, which is definitely on the slide.

I've managed a few small DIY/garden bits, but I'm not keeping on top of anything else. Not overwhelmed completely...yet...but on the slippery slope :(

I don't know what to say, Adela. At least the SW were supportive. Do you own your flat? That makes it so hard to get extra space...

Emmm is right Adela. They can support your wish to be rehoused by way of a supportive letter or organising a meeting with yourselves, housing, health rep etc. So can your kids school nurse and GP (but some GP's might charge for a letter to housing).

    Good luck. :)
