My home is a mess

Im having five mins rest from housework;
Iv hoovered,
mopped the hall,kitchen and livingroom,
cleaned the kitchen,
put a quilt in the machine,
put four bags of clean washing upstairs ready to put away
cleaned the livingroom tidy ect.
Im going to start the stairs and landings next then the bathroom. Will put more washing on and give our bedroom a quick tidy and bed change.
Everything has been just essential cleaning due to hospital visits so today we are having a day off. My brothers are going to see my dad tonight so Ill call up on Sunday.
Kitty hope your mood lifts. I try to keep busy when my mood is low stops me thinking .
Looks like everyone is busy. See you later peeps.0 -
Well done, snookey, for all you've got done. :T I hope your dad's getting along ok.0

I am a clutter addict. I am as far from minimalistic as possible! I like knick knacks but lately all the other stuff is starting to bother me.
I have piles of craft stuff (papers, fabric, wool) as well as too many clothes for my tiny wardrobe and hundreds of books.
I seem to get going with tidying but then don't quite manage to get it done completely - that last remaining bit of clutter then acts as a magnet and in no time at all I am back where I started!0 -
((Kitty)). Try to get out in the sunshine and have fun. Any mess will wait until you feel brighter xx
Thanks, Emm. Will be more expensive later...I'm going to add that one to my repertoire...:D Seriously, I HATE spending money on anything I don't love...I always think that if I have to make do, I'll make do with what I have already...but there are limits, and there are some things in my house I now find it hard to believe I've put up with for so long.
Welcome new messies (Fly Messies or otherwise). This is a place to celebrate what you have done, and find comfort in numbers for what you haven'tThere's always somebody messier than you (and it's probably me
).
Well, I have a path, or at least all its brick edging, and a chunk of the circle it leads to. I'm down to just one bag of cement (and two of postcrete) in the utility room, which is a victory of sorts :rotfl:. I have cleared one of the few patches of the garden I hadn't gutted already, and planted another tree-in one of the difficult spaces next to a massive stump and where I've virtually had to chop out the hole with a hand axe. The washing poles are lying in the garden waiting to be put up...if I dig the holes this week then I'm optimistic they'll go up next weekend or the weekend after.
There's still a fair bit of soil to move around, and more trees to plant, and all the gravel to put down...but things are looking up. I've even finished my Kindle case. Pity about the shirts that have been on the ironing board since Thursday, but Superwoman I'm not and I'm quite proud of what we've done today (and that we got on so well because of all the heavy prep I've done by myself this week).:j
Is it Monday yet? :eek:import this0 -
Hi messies, after a rummage around the charity shops and market, I've been having a play with my quilting hobby today, despite the house being a total tip. Just about managed to wash up and do a couple of loads of washing, but lots of tidying to do tomorrow.
I haven't yet produced anything apart from the patchwork cushion, but I hopefully will have two large cushions for the bed (stuffed with a couple of cheap pillows each) made up soon. I'm practising "circle" quilting which looks amazing in the tutorials but takes a bit of fiddling around to get the hang of!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Perhaps doing the shopping etc. bits first, then having a clear run for doing home tasks is the answer. I`m putting this theory to the test today.
I'm often the same as you, I can easily justify to myself the need to go out and shop etc. rather than stay in and do housework. I find that I have to get some jobs done before I go out though as if I've been out and about it's hard to get going when I get back in or I'll just do the jobs I like doing rather than what needs doing!
I was motivated yesterday morning due to having some friends popping in during the afternoon. So I
tidied, dusted and vacuumed the living room, the hallway and landing
vacuumed study and kitchen
cleaned toilet and bathroom sink
put clean towels and a new hand wash in bathroom
tidied up piles of towels in airing cupboard
did a load of washing and hung outside
did two lots of washing up
made bed and tidied up bedroom.
So far this morning I've washed up and hand washed a few pairs of tights and hung outside.
It's a lovely day here, hope it is for everyone else.0 -
Afternoon messies.
Angel Jenny, I sympathise re the craft materials. As I sit here, I have 5 files of various types of paper and card, a file of peel-offs, a box of misc craft bits (ribbons, inks etc) and my workbox. Behind those, is a large plastic box full of family history papers, files and photos, plus more bags of photos on top. This is supposed to be the second bedroom so, if either of our DDs came to stay, they'd have to sleep on the sofa, I think.
Sounds as if your garden's coming on really well, laurel. You must ache at the end of the day!
Jps, I look forward to seeing your next project, after seeing the last one.
Footymadgirl, well done for the de-messing :T. Amazing how visitors can suddenly find us the impetus and the time that usually evade us.
I'm afraid that the glorious weather here had me de-messing the garden rather than the house today. It does look a lot better, though, and will even more so when the grass is cut!0 -
Thanks, FMG, it sometimes is `JUSTIFYING the need to go shop etc`, I`ll admit to that one! Other times it`s me all set for a `stay-home` day, and I get a call from DD or a wail from resident DS (I`m the family chauffeur!) or when like today OH is off same day as me and has a better idea (like today, so, ok, we went to the pub. Nice, I`m not grumbling, but here`s another `day-off`when I COULD have done much here and have done the barest minimum.) OH has gone for `disco-nap`, I`ve checked e-mails with a coffee, and found one from a dear lovely friend who`s struggling with the internet... And the weather is so nice I want to do some garden clearing.
Laurel, I envy your motivation there, I remember paths, we had one, once...
I COULD say `I`ll do stuff tomorrow` - but I promised something. I rarely do this, but a patient got moved to a cottage hospital the other day.-, was very upset bout going, and has no family/visitors. I was trying to cheer her up and promised to nip over and see her when I had time off, she can`t speak but understands what`s said, squeezed my hand & stopped crying. So that`s tomorrow. I`m going to do SOMETHING outside, now, before sundown - some branches need lopping of apple trees, before they get going - last year they nearly broke the washing line, heavy with fruit.
Drags self into garden...0 -
Hello folks, sorry I haven't been around much. Seem to have retreated into myself somewhat, times are uncertain, you know how it is.
Today however, the sun was shining and I've somehow been productive. Done the weekly shopping and uploaded to shop and scan (I've been so naughty lately and not bothering, which is so stupid because it only takes me like 30 seconds); cleaned the whole house except bathroom as OH broke the mop bucket. Cleared up in the garden, potted my cucumber and tomato seedlings, and walked the dog. The house now looks vaguely like civilised human beings live in it, rather than the cave people we've become. OH took me to our local for a few drinks, that's helped too- was getting a bit cabin feverish as we haven't been out of an evening for a couple of months now.
(((hugs))) to everyone who needs them, hoping to be here a little more often now xx
