Emm - love the 'daftie dog and his new bed' tale, our cat would be just the same if the dog had something new.

Snookey - congratulations on the furry addition to the family. May you have many happy years together. Getting a new furbaby always makes me feel all warm inside, and yes, I'm another one who's softer about animals than children

Well, having failed to declutter 100 items in January I've decided to try again for February, but this time I'm really going to try to do a few every day (hmm, where have I heard that before)

So far today I've put the DW and WM on and put a couple of saucepans in the sink to [STRIKE]wash themselves[/STRIKE] soak. I need to:

    finish cleaning the bathroom
    mop the floors downstairs
    put away dry washing
    hang up wet washing
    declutter at least 5 items
    tidy the sofa
tidy the coffee table in the lounge
Do a bit more of the programming course

And this afternoon I've got a big(ish) shop coming from Mr A which will need to be put away - at least i've not had to trawl around the shop for it though - I love free delivery offers :j

Better go and get on with it then
hugs to all who need one

    Morning all

Emm - lovely story about Daftie Doggie
    Snookey - I'm jealous!!

    Today I have
    Washed up
    wiped worktops
Answered the door for deliveries twice
    Drank lots of coffee
    phoned Mum
    Hoovered downstairs
Dusted the LR - had to shake the duster out several times [outside]
    cleaned the coffee table
plumped up the sofa cushions and remade the throws on there
started to knit a hug mug from my new book
resisted starting the other new book on how to crochet :]
    online banked

I'm away for food, then going for a long walk with Mum and Dog, its a year ago today that my Dad died,I'm fine but DD and Mum are feeling bad, DS doesn't even realise!! Tomorrow after school we will go to his grave and lay flowers. DD has hand made some roses [they look awful but Grandad would of loved them] so they will go on his grave too.

Tonight I have to go to a meeting at DS's school about a resedential trip he's going on in March.

    Catch up later

    Love and hugs to all

I have to thank you all once again for giving me the motivation to get off my a$$ and do something. Having spectacularly failed to clean the bathroom for pretty much all of January, I kept trying to motivate myself to do something about it. I spent a couple of hours catching up on this thread last night and was about to post a moan about how it still wasn't done but then I though you know what - s*d it! And I got up and did it there and then instead of posting. Trouble was, it was midnight when I started - good job we live in a detached house! I'm paying for it now.

I even had enough energy left over to wash the plate/bowls/mugs that were littering the kitchen but it ran out before I could do the pans/pizza trays/microwave plate thingy that also need doing!

I'm having dinner with my ma this evening as OH is away at his ma's so at least I don't have to finish off the washing up before I get to eat tonight. Trouble is OH is threatening to drive back tonight (250 miles takes 3.75 hours after 8pm, or 5.5 hours during the day tomorrow!). I was planning to meet some friends at the pub on the way back from my ma's so I'll have to make sure I get back before him coz I already told him that the washing up was done! Is it wrong of me to suggest he stays another night just to buy more time to get the washing up done? :rotfl:
  • Loudmouth - I bought one of those timers, but haven`t used it yet.
Sonastin - I`m glad you found some motivation... I`m still a bit too CBA.
Now OH is finished doing Nights I might do a bit more Noisy Stuff - might even break the sound barrier, once I get going! Not today though...
I`m off to FarmShop in a mo, Kitchen is moderately clear. I`ll do some chips ready for this evening, and we`ll have some slow-cookered pepsi-ham, eggs & maybe spinach - I`ll see what I find at FS. And sprouts on the stalk to go with the minty lamb. We`ll nip down the pub this evening (5 till 8, while it`s quiet) to celebrate end of nightshifts, then home to scoff ham & chips etc. Sounds like a plan!

Paddypaws - I don`t mind the `trawling round the supermarket` bit - I find it therapeutic. It`s the putting shopping away bit that I really HATE!
Helen - ((Hugs)). Enjoy your walk. That`s really lovely about your DD making some roses for her Grandad.

PS - Puss did manage to get in Daftie-dogs` bed this am - Daftie came in and proceeded to lie down on it as if the cat were merely a furry part of the bed! Puss squawked and fled, Daftie seemed quite oblivious that she`d been there. (Puss went off to sulk on a sack of fire-sticks in the kitchen!!!)

:rotfl: Emms, I just love your stories of the animal antics - please keep them coming. And I love Paddypaws 'furbaby'! Brilliant!

Helen, I'm seriously impressed by your busy-ness. :T

sonastin - don't see that there's a problem at all in giving yourself a bit more time. ;)

    Hi to everyone else.

Fffrrreezzzing here, but bright and beautiful. Stopped off at the river to take some bird pics, but I froze after taking just a couple.

Have one load of washing hanging up, and will shortly sort another lot for the WM, although I can't actually wash it until the other lot's dry.

Managed to get a good start on sorting photos. If I find one more photo of me as a baby, I'll be seriously tempted to tip the whole lot in the bin! Once OH goes to see to the horses, I'll clean up and de-mess the kitchen. I can't criticise him, as he takes on all the cooking, and I don't want to be seen to be 'fussing' about. Of course, he probaly won't notice the difference when he comes back.

Bearcub your lucky I have no baby photoes, I must have been an ugly baby lol.

Well Iv just got back with the new dog. He has run himself ragged . Its his second walk today. Im sure Ill lose weight this way. Its going to have to be three long walks as he is so energetic.

Iv not done any cleaning and Im sure Ill have to neglect the house whilst training the dog. Thats my excuse anyway.

Loved hearing about daftie-dog's new bed, Emm! It's so rewarding when they really take to something we've bought them.

My cat regards any (even expensive) toy I buy her as utterly beneath contempt and when I bring it out with a flourish she stares at me as if to say "Really? I'm supposed to play with that?" and yet... when she stayed with my mum and dad one Christmas while I was overseas, she went completely nuts for some soft baubles (made of spun cotton) and still has a couple here that she plays with when she thinks I'm not looking!

She's also randomly fallen for and played with an old pen lid, a bag sealer clip and - wait for it - a stray potato peeling! I never buy her toys now!

I'm very cold here, haven't winter prepped the house and suffering for it now. It's only 11C in the living room, so I think I'll retire to the bedroom with the lappy and some hot water bottles in a short while. It's also cheaper to have the fan heater on in the bedroom than downstairs as it's all open plan down here.

Hope everyone is having a good evening - take care all!

Edit: Snookey sorry forgot to say congrats on your new puppy - collies are just lovely dogs. How lovely to hear that good news!

Snookey, I forgot to say congrats on the new dog. You say it's a collie - is it a border collie? If so, he may never run out of energy. My friend has two, and the younger one, about 4 years old now, just keeps going and going, until she keels over, has a quick nap where she lands, then is up and away again. :rotfl:

jps, I know that superior cat look. Our madam is 19, totally deaf, and going senile, but she can still make us shrink into a corner with one of her looks! :)

Have done very little again today. I have exchanged some less used, and more frequently used, items so that they're all in more suitable places. Spent some time with Mum, and sorted out the edge of a jigsaw that she's been doing for ages. Well, it's necessary de-messing, isn't it? ;) Have a fair amount of admin to do tonight, which I don't mind at all, and there's nothing on TV.
  • Evening fellow untidy ones....feeling better than I have for a few days thankfully as it's our wedding anniversary today. Bought items for dinner and OH cooked us a lovely meal. Gave me an antique Singer sewing machine as a present which I love (now have 3 all different ages).

Snookey is it a border collie? Have had 2 of these in the past - don't know the meaning of the word tired and the smartest dogs around. Hope you have as much fun with yours as we did with ours.

Absolutely perishing cold here...going to give Maddie kitten a cuddle in a minute - I can now actually pick her up and give her a cuddle and she purrs :):):):):) (nearly cried the first time this happened as I still remember the spitting, yowling ball of fur she was not so long ago). She is still wary of OH, but he is a lot taller than I am, so much more intimidating for a small animal.

No housework done here at all..... apart from OH putting on the dishwasher (can I claim this as vicarious tidying by association????). I think even the dust is too cold to settle atm so don't worry about that. Temp. is too low for bacteria and fungi, so cleaning unecessary. So scientifically all we need to do is curl up with a hot drink to preserve body heat.

Have a hug and a snuggle on me everyone.....

Oh, SD, how lovely that Maddy is enjoying the fuss. Very well done! :T (but quiet clapping, naturally!)

Happy anniversary, btw. We've only ever celebrated 1st and 25th years, and we're just coming up for our 38th!

Seems as if you have the right idea of messy culture, as far as I can make out from a lot of the regulars. I love it! :)
