Messy status report - GRIM!!
Had day off today, OH also off till tomorrow night, & I`m on late shift tomoz . OH felt `down` so agreed to afternoon visit to pub, and very pleasant it was. DS & DGD had moderately trashed LR & kitchen by the time we got home. After a brief squawk by me, and several things removed by their depositors, it doesn`t look too bad - by firelight, that is. I lit the fire and that calmed me a bit. We`re having Chinese pork (probably no Chinese person could recognise it as such!) cooked last night in slow cooker, all I have to do is steam some rice and fix a few salady bits. I`m in a CBA, !!!!!!, chuck another log on the fire mood. Dim lamp & firelight goes a long way to make messy room habitable and me less of a grump!0 -
Hugs YL, hope you had a good time this afternoon.
I'm shattered - I did everything on my list and now have a small fire going - I have a small clay chiminea sitting in the fireplace where I had the gas fire removed in the summer, it's a perfect fit and saves me having to get a fire grate installed! I now have a lovely little fire making the place feel much more cheerful. I only light it at weekends, to save money and because I'm too knackered during the week to stay up long enough to make it worthwhile.
I'm now sitting here doing my t-shirt yarn crochet (I think this will be a bathmat). I feel more relaxed than I have for ages and I'm trying not to get too sleepy, because I want this evening to last!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Hugs, Yorkshire-Lass-and well done for giving yourself some beathing space and putting it away. It won't ambush you in the same way next time. xxx
I've spent most of the daylight in the garden with a helper, but I'm not sure what we achieved, exactly. Planted three lots of bulbs, cut back a tree in the front garden, fixed the trellis over the scruffy brickwork, dug up a tree stump and planted the grand total of two, yes TWO, trees. I think there are at least eight left to do. Doesn't seem a lot for twelve hours between us, though I suppose the holes for the trees were *at least* ten times the size of the post holes, which had taken over an hour each to dig (thanks to roots and rock hard clay soil). The soil isn't as hard to work as it was when baked dry at the end of the summer, but wet clay is heavy work in a different way.
I'm starting to worry about my trees, which are bare root and seriously need planting (they're standing in dustbins full of compost outside the greenhouse atm). I could really use some light in the evenings now.:oimport this0 -

Oh Emm, that made me laugh (as usual) and hopefully cheered up the others who as having a bad day.
I made a mistake today, took the small people with me to Iceland... £13 spent and most of that was on icecream! Why didnt they have Fabs in a box smaller than 16!!! (Still Alex will be happy for another 16 puddings time lol)
Hugs to all the people here who need them, we are just ticking on over here.

Iv just showered the cat,not the best job. Iv been clawed and ended up holding her in the shower on my knee,so soaked. Her fur had collected buds and bits of sticks in it so no choice. Now not my friend, lol.

Lots of tumblying, then, kitty! :rotfl:
Our wheelie bin is in the garage, but we put a large bucket just outside the lounge door, in the conservatory, to dump recycling stuff until one of us goes into the garage. Husband wanted to put it in the kitchen by the pedal bin, but we wouldn't have been able to open the cupboard then. Do you not have any outside space where you could put one of the bins?0 -
Laurel, sounds like progress to me- well done. If you ever need a bit of expert gardening/tree advice pm me, I have a hubby who has worked in the trade all his life.
Thanks for the kind thoughts, feeling a bit calmer this morning. We need the results of the MRI scan he had on 5th Jan, waiting for the hospital to get back to us. Think we will all feel better when we know what that showed.
No plans for today yet, DS2 wants me to help him with something he is making out of cardboard, better get my contact lenses in first!
Jacci - hope that cold is better, hopefully its just one of those ones that never really comes to anything. Fingers crossed.0
