Oh help me, I need a hug, or a bit of moral support, or preferably both.

Managed to persuade DS1 to go out with his Dad so I am trying to crack on with his bedroom while he is out. Its really upsetting me though. I have dug everything out of his built in cupboard and there are loads of memories there from when he was well and happy and just a normal kid. Just been looking through some old school books and I cant believe how well he could write and spell. I cant even bring myself to look at the photos :(.

We are in the middle of a very difficult time with all his medical stuff and maybe this just isnt a good time to be doing this. I found myself sitting in the middle of a pile of his things and being very close to tears so have come downstairs. I needed to tell someone so hope you dont mind.

OK, big deep breath. I want to make his bedroom nice for him so its got to be done.

Yorkshirelass, I've no idea what problem your DS1 has, or his age, but HUGE HUGS to you. I know from experience how much it hurts to realise that your child is suffering in some way, and feeling that there's little that you can do about it. I know I'm new on here, but if you'd like to talk via PM, then please feel free to contact me. X
  • Hi, I am back. Thanks Bearcub and Byatt.

Crisis over. I have put some of the stuff back in the cupboard as it was, just cant deal with it today. Have sorted out some of the less emotional stuff and I am nearly ready to start painting.

Have been asking myself why we ever allowed him to have a dartboard in his bedroom. Some serious filling to do before I can start.

Just briefly, for those who dont know me and were a bit puzzled by my post, my 13yo has serious health problems which started 2 1/2 years ago. He is very poorly at the moment and the future is not looking great. I gave up my job to be his full time carer and at the moment I am pretty much home-schooling him because he can only manage very small amounts of education with a tutor.

Off now to see what DS2 is up to, need to drag him away from the Xbox and get us both out in the fresh air I think.
  • Hugs to you Yorkshire
You've done the right thing putting the stuff away. It can wait for a time when you're ready to tackle it. Well done for getting some of the 'easier' stuff sorted despite feeling low.
Hope you enjoy the fresh air!
  • Sorry I haven't managed to catch up for a couple of days - got a stomach bug or something and only just crawled out of bed :(

Surrounded by mess and really don't feel like even moving a piece of paper.

Huge HUGS to everyone, as a hug is something I think we never get enough of.

Hopefully back to normal (for me) soon. Take care all.

You'll feel better knowing that you'd managed some of what you intended, YL, and there'll be days when you feel stronger.

Hope you feel better soon, SD. I have a friend who has no close family, and little contact with her wider family. I gave her a hug last week, as she was looking a bit down. As you say, we can never have enough, although we're a very huggy family ourselves.

Not done any de-messing today, although I did muck out two stables - OH was elsewhere. Does that count? Have started getting cards together, so my craft materials should be put away this week, and I'm aiming to get at least some of the family photos sorted this week, too. I'm fed up with having very little space in this room!

Oh Jacci, so you caught the cold after all. I hope you manage to shake it off in time.

Yorkshire lass it must be really hard to see your child being so ill but remember you are doing everything you can to help him. My brother has severe learning and physical disabilities and I remember my mum saying you grieve for the child you lost but then you move on and realise that this child is just as special if not more so.
  • Gilly - lovely coloured lists, and so much done...well done you lass, obviously Inspired...
Laurel - big hugs(()) for you & all without washing line. Our snowdrops are out & daffs trying to sprout, so thinking of soon having to face our bit of the great outdoors soon. SO much easier when all you do outside for a while is fill the birdfeeders, pick up dog-poo, & bring in logs/put out bins!!!
Helen - glad to hear from you, you were missed!
Adela - when my DD was little, it was the first days of compulsory car-seats for littlies, and she was then our youngest fosterling. My dear late Hubby was being Househusband, and he`d got into the habit of giving her a sausage roll on most journeys...and she would pick bits off it and `feed` him when they stopped at lights, etc...he`d twist round and she`d lean forward & stuff bits in his mouth! He`d make `YUM` noises and she`d giggle - one day he thought `yuk` whilst saying `YUM`, glanced in rear-view mirror, & there was DD picking her nose & collecting her scoopings. She then leaned forward to try to feed him some more. He declined all offers after that - and the car seat, already grubby, suddenly got a lot worse!
FA/2 - good luck with the exchange students. I LOVE your ref to HWTHMBO!
Yorkshirelass - you did the best thing you could, hun, some stuff is simple `de-clutter`, and some stuff has to wait till you are ready to deal with it. It will keep, and at least you cleared SOME of the stuff.
Soupdragon - Hope you feel better soon
Jacci - hope you shake the cold in time, so you can get the op. over with. Drink lots, fruit juice & chicken stock cubes...& think positive. I do believe it6 helps!

YL - huge hugs and I too think you did the right thing by putting the stuff away. You're a great Mum and don't forget it, have a break hun and enjoy the fresh air x

soupdragon - hugs for you too, hope you feel better soon, snuggle on the sofa and watch a DVD, there's always another day to do "stuff"

Jacci - fingers crossed that you get rid of the bloomin cold TONIGHT!

Well the beds didn't get done but a disco nap was decluttered, I have another headache - its related to the Menopause I think, monthly visits are all over the place and have been for some time although blood tests say its not!! anyway TMI, I have joined the Second Purse challenge [Old style forum] so I have also been through my stockpile of foods. Lots of washing has been done too [and some drying]

    See you laters gators

    Helen x
