Welcome shopaholic!
How about this declutter calendar: doing something small every day as a starting point. Download it for free - don't buy it!
Or like me you might just decide to tackle a certain area/cupboard and take it a step at a time.
I found it quite addictive at the start, but then you do have to remember you have a life to live and work to do too!
When I tackle larger jobs (wardrobe or a room) I put things in boxes assigned to different places to help keep organised - eg. DVD cupboard, craft room, desk etc and then empty the boxes as and when.
I'm sure there'll be loads of tips soon from people who are more 'expert' than me!
Once again, welcome. You're life is about to change!
I defo feel better about my house just because I'm starting to see the carpet again!0 -
Just turned on 'HOw CLean Is Your House?' (on More4) and feeling relatively smug!0

Waves hello to Shopaholic
Gilly and PP - I'm up for car sharing - blimey, didn't realise train fare would be so expensive - I also don't mind driving and I have a car that will be big enough for us and the bags of shopping hehe - also up for staying the night BUT I don't want to share a room [like my privacy - sorry] either way - stay or come back same day is ok by me.
I'm on a roll this morning - that'll probably change now that I've turned comp on lol

Hi
I know what you mean. Makes me seem like a Domestic Goodess:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I can cope with untidiness but not a dirty toilet, bath, worktops or sink.
I just finished tidying up a shelf and am really proud. I can see what's on there now and am determined to keep it that way.:j:)Sealed Pot Challenge No 089-Finally got a signature.:rotfl::j0 -
My post to everyone has been deleted AGAIN, so i will make this quick.
Cat I feel so sad for you and your ds. Heres hoping he makes a recovery so they can spend more time together
Snookey Hope your group works out and you start getting some sleep. Fingers crossed here for you.
Shopaholic I have been decluttering for a loooongggg timmmme - it never seems to end. I always try to stay on top of the dailies, eg dishes, laundry, general tidy (easier said than done sometimes), then add something to that. When doing a room, i do piles, keep, throw, cs, freecycle, ebay (for example), then bag and send off to where they are going. If going to the charity shop is too much, i freecycle. When tidying a bedroom, i always make the bed first, then it just makes everything seem tidyier, i will then run around grabbing clothes, hang or washbasket, papers get flung into a pile (never to be dealt with again in my case). I think little and often is best. If i want things to go upstairs, i put them on the stairs and then take them up (well try to), when i go up, move things into the general direction of where they belong. Hope i haven't bored you and some of that helps. Incidentally, i now have a cupboard full of ebay stuff, never put any of it on yet, (one day eh). hope i have not bored u too much and some of that helps
Nice to see some of yous might get to meet. I have parents that are not well, my mum had 3 strokes last year and my dad had a heart bypass, the 2nd in 2 years, everytime the phone goes, i panic thinking one of them has taken ill. I did look up the train fares yesterday, on the off chance and thought a return from london kings cross was £23, i must have got that drastically wrong0 -
Afternoon messies - I almost made it out of bed am instead of pm but not quite!
Byatt, don't know what to say, thank you for such a lovely post ((hugs)), I have tried to protect DS, first on the odd occasion like every 2 years when his dad was still drinking and tried to get access (more his mum's doing than his) - he admits I was 100% right to do that, as he would have let him down - I knew that and couldn't bear it to happen. I know some people will think I was wrong there.
But DS was young at the time and even on the rare occasion when he asked about him I tried to paint his dad in the best possible light to spare DS's feelings. Then when he was 11 and I knew his dad was ill and had stopped drinking, I'd ask him regularly if he wanted to see him but he was adamant he didn't until they met at a family funeral last year. His dad started telling him stories about how bad he was, I guess trying to show DS I'd been justified, but I had to get him to stop - as you say, wanted DS to see him in a good light, not have those things in his head! Thanks to you and Fru, I feel better about how things turned out.
Thank you so much for the hugs Gilly and PP and Save Dosh xxx SD, so sorry to hear about your parents((hugs))
welcome shopaholic!!I love the declutter calendars too
Haven't done any of it though:D
Well done on your shelf GRB!
Really glad so many are interested in the meet. I like my privacy too tbh HelenFor anyone looking at trains, it can often be a lot cheaper to get two singles on http://www.thetrainline.com/buytickets/?
and also not to get through tickets from/to the nearest station eg I went to Preston last year from Glasgow £12 singles each way, then a connection to another local station, bought the ticket for that at Preston. A LOT cheaper that way. Megabus is also cheap if you can get it.
I never feel smug watching HCIYH lol. Sometimes my place is worse:rotfl:
Not much planned for today, another load of washing round at DS's dad's house, veg chilli for tea, and PHONE THE WASHING MACHINE MAN!:D
hugs to all, esp kitty, snookey and fru, and anyone else feeling down. And well done Helen, your lists never fail to impress me!0 -
