Brilliant snookey! There's a Premier Inn in the city centre a quarter of a mile from the rail station, twin rooms are around £29 a night so if people didn't mind doubling up, it's reasonably cheap to stay over till the Sunday for anyone who wants to (me!), think it would have to be booked fairly earlyish though. Apparently lots of nice pubs and eateries nearby too

I'm quite excited - time out, away from DH and kids - can you tell I have one of them surgically attached to me most of the time - I do now manage to pee in peace except for when the dog barges in lol.
I'm going to look at train travel - how long and cost and the price of a single room - sorry ladies but I'm not up for sharing - if I'm going away for the weekend then I want space - don't get any at home lol
Frugal - where are you - maybe if someone else was coming from your way then sharing travel could be an option

Went to psych, given sleeping tablets and a referal to a womens centre. Maybe it will lift my mood.
The people who we were going to get the dog from have decided to keep him. The owner was in tears saying he could not part with him. So we are on the look out again so fingers crossed.
Sorry to hear about the dog :[
Glad to hear that you were given some tabs and a referral :]soupdragon10 wrote: »
OH managed to trap second kitten this evening and it's now housed in an empty 4 ft vivarium. Have tried ringing cats protection but no one has got back to me yet. As I already have 6 cats we simply don't have room for any more!

Cat, I'm really sorry to read about your DS's dad. I will send positive thoughts out into the universe for him. I understand how you feel about almost wishing your son hadn't got in touch again, but you have done a wonderful job of bringing him up as he felt confident to be able to do it, knowing he had your support. Also, whatever the outcome he has had time with his dad and seen him in a good light. That is priceless. It's hard to see our children feel pain and we want to protect them but sometimes letting them make choices that may cause us and them pain is the best gift we can give. You are a strong, caring mother and your DS's dad sounds like he is a good man and I truly hope he can get well. xxxx0

totally agree with that - i lost my dad last year (i was late 30's) and am glad I had that time even tho many years were rocky - the last 5 were good. Better since he was poorlyBut glad we had that time.
DS will benefit from making peace, and spending time with his Dad xxxx

I may be up for the meet depending if I can have the car for the weekend - if anyone from MK is going and I can come I am up for giving lifts all in the good cause of money saving :money:
Cat - I don't want to post and run but really do not know what to say about your DS dad - I lost my Mum when I was 7 or 8 and do not remember her at all so if I was to post anything I suppose it would be I am so glad to hear that your sons time with Dad although maybe a little sad as in hospital sounds like it is also filled with some happiness.0 -

Cat501 - really sorry to hear about DS's Dad, hope the trip to the hospital today goes ok and DS isn't too upset. And also that the hospital come up with a treatment plan to give him the best chance of getting through this. {{{hugs}}} to you and your DS.
I'd like to come to the meetup too please. Just need to check DH is ok as I've got a girly w/e away in Feb and another in September (3 ex-colleagues and we all live so far apart the only way we can get together is to go away for the w/e, usually to the cotswolds. 'Tis great fun usually and we spend all w/e gassing and eating)
Not sure if I can manage to do the whole w/e but will come up Saturday if that fits with timings and stuffhelen_jelly wrote: »I'm going to look at train travel - how long and cost and the price of a single room - sorry ladies but I'm not up for sharing - if I'm going away for the weekend then I want space - don't get any at home lol

Helen had a quick look on national rail website and going Saturday coming back to MK Sunday is about £67 on the train (I looked at a weekend in March as prices only seem to be available 12 weeks in advance)I may be up for the meet depending if I can have the car for the weekend - if anyone from MK is going and I can come I am up for giving lifts all in the good cause of money saving :money:
Gilly1964 If you can go and don't mind driving that far (I've got a car but didn't fancy all that motorway driving - am such a wimp!) I'd love a lift (and to share petrol costs etc)
Anyhoo, better crack on, today I need to:
Finish cleaning the bathroom (got sidetracked yesterday)
Update GC thread with yesterday's c0stoc0 spends (and finish putting the shopping away)
hoover downstairs and mop
tidy the kitchen (unload/reload DW, sort out handwashing up, wipe down and general tidy)
Sort out dry washing and do another load
Go back to the finance spreadsheets and finalise this year's budget now I've worked out how to sort out the unbudgeted stuff, then check the bank statement and make sure it all balances, oh, and pay the cc bill.
So the next lesson from codeyear
And this evening I'm going back to yoga, not been for a couple of months so tomorrow I will probably be a bit stiff :rotfl:
see you all later
