Sorry, I tend to be a one pot cook so can't offer any suggestions, but had to comment on my jealousy that is rising by the minute over your current position!!!:j Nice one, frugal!

I went through a phase of being a bit jamie Oliver-ish and doing all my meals in the one baking tray - chicken on a bad of potato wedges/mediterranean roasted veg kind of thing. Good for washing up although I did get a bit bored of that too. Omelette?

Whilst I try to get on with sorting the house, I feel like I am getting bogged down daily trying to keep on top of the kitchen mess!

I was wondering if any of you lovely ladies had any ideas for meals that don't make much mess when preparing/cooking? I can't eat from the SC all the time as I find it boring.

    Any ideas please?

    :)

OMG! I spent all day yesterday sorting clothes and put about 40kg of clothes, shoes, and wellies (in assorted bags) in the back of my car yesterday (hmm at 50p/kg that's only £2.00).
The front room is WORSE than when I started. There are clothes in boxes for what year they fit (e.g. 9-10years, etc IYSWIM) everywhere - so much so that there isn't room to hang up the laundry from last night's machine wash, or take down the dried ones from yesterday. So will have that joy to behold when I get back.
OK I am up and dressed and just going out to scrape the car and drive to the recycling place.
On a plus note I have a bit more space in the conservatory now and think I want to eBay the rest of it, if only because MSE people say that people will buy anything!

Hi messies, I'm still feeling a bit tired and washed out so will be taking it easy again this afternoon. Have done two loads of washing, changed the bed, cooked chicken for lunches, SC on for the week's evening meals (beef stew), hoovered (just the middle bits) and cleaned out the cat tray. That's plenty for now! Mum's coming over now so I will read and maybe post later... hope everyone is well and having a good Sunday!

Frugal, sorry to hear your not feeling on top of things at the mo. I recently started batch cooking for the freezer, which is a lifesaver when i CBA. You can start very small. I find having cooked mince in the freezer great, plus its really easy to do, i just bung in my wok type thing, with frozen veg, tin of beans, kidney beans, tomato puree and a bit of spice and leave on hob to cook, when cooked and cooled, it goes in freezer. You can make a stack of things with it, wraps, spag bol, shepherds pie (with instant mash). Pasta with a good quality jar of sauce and cut up ham, with some grated cheese, takes seconds. I also have cooked chicken frozen, this can be made with salad (bagged of course) and some cous cous, which only take a minute. I always soak the dishes in water/washing up liquid before i eat, so they more or less wash themselves. If you are retiring with your laptop, you could check out the front pages of the grocery challenge, where there is a ton of recipes and links to all manner of things. Take care and be nice to yourself.

Well, today being Sunday, it's the day of rest, so everyone has an excuse, including me. :rotfl: All that's going to get done (anti-messy wise) is dusting the lounge, and clearing the dried washing. :)

    Going to the chippy.

I know its not MSE, but sometimes when you all you feel you are doing is filling and emptying the dishwasher and then doing washing up as well and it never ending it is good to break the cycle by have a cheap take out meal and just be able to put it in the bin afterwards!

Sorry if I am leading people astray!

and I was worried I would be going against the ethos of the old style board!

I have burnt a pile of papers tidied the shed and cut back some plants in the garden probably the wrong time of year but hey.

This afternoon I am going to rearrange some stuff in my room and have a tidy up and reorganisation of the Conservatory - surface only. Mum really wants to get a dog and that will mean us having to get rid/store two pieces of furniture to make room for the dog(s).....that means the Mother of all spring cleans!

    *sighs*
