Well Done MM :) Really pleased for you :)

Lol at your dog, Helen :rotfl: I can just imagine him still sitting there poised to pounce :D

Sorry your depression is getting worse Snookey. I hope that the psych can help on Monday.

For any and all who are suffering with depression, esp seasonal affective disorder, its worth doing some research on the benefits of Vitamin D. Since I started looking at the way it can combat depression I believe that anybody suffering from SAD should initially be tested for Vit D defiency. I decided to take 3,000 - 5,000 iu a day since autumn and can honestly say I have felt none of the usual SAD symptoms, except of course for a messy house :D The reason I was crying for 2 days was definately the horrible situation and not depression related.

I have even been waking up BEFORE my alarms (I have 4, plus the radio and have been known to sleep thru them all!) which is absolutely unheard of for me. I am certain it is because of the Vit D.

Obviously we can't give medical advice but I would say its worth investigating on the web and chatting to your GP/psych about it.

DD has been very poorly today so a friend took other DD to school and the poorly one and I stayed in bed until my friend brought my other DD home from school at 3.30 :D We both slept more or less solidly until 1pm :rotfl:

Needless to say, nothing has been done here :o

I have a SAD lamp I got this year and it's helped quite a bit. I will look into Vit D too.

    Nothing done here. :o
  • Bearcub - feel free to quote me if you wish :) My late mother despaired of my domestic capabilities, but we are talking about a woman who ironed socks, tea towels and underwear :eek::eek:

Well today I have ......... cleaned the inside of the car windscreen (you are I gather supposed to be able to see out!). Also went into town with OH to pick up meds and have a wander (doesn't take long as there's not that much to see).

Bed to go in spare room has arrived so I am now steeling myself to go in for the great sort out and tidy so it can be put in. There will now be somewhere to sleep while the bedroom is cleared and decorated (this will include sanding the floor which is the reason for the move). Suspect the spare room will be used for some time so need to create space.

Stray kitten has a good appetite, and I managed to stroke him/her today, so am hopeful that taming will be quite easy.

Looking forward to cooking a nice bean stew / casserole (once again a pot luck surprise for him). Still he ate the last one and came back for seconds so can't have been bad.

    Enjoy your afternoon fellow messies.

soupdragon - are we siblings? my late DM also despaired of my domestic capabilities. It's a bit of a standing joke that I am missing the domestic engineering gene :rotfl:

helen - yes, it does sound like we are all quite close. We're between the canal and the lake which was great when the mutt could manage a decent walk (unfortunately now he can just about walk to the park and back). It is also useful if I start power walking again - did a marathon last year and used to walk along the canal, cut up to willen lake then walk to caldecotte lake along the river and back to this area along the canal as part of my training. It's hard to believe you can live so close to the city centre but still have so much 'countryside' to walk through.

BTW, the bacon butties were yummy, off out for a walk shortly

I live very close to the lake - 5 mins walk but don't use it as much now the dog is no more. Who knows we may even have passed each other by the lake or canal.

I did think last week when we were talking about the DHs fishing they might even know each other and do they spend time in the tackle shops moaning about the house being a mess and going fishing to get away from it :D

Finished with loft tetris for the day - there is now 17 black bin bags and 9 pink ones out for bin men.

25 items of clothing to go on Ebay, but wil wash and iron them first as been up in the loft for years.

    Speak later xx

I have an announcement to make..............

The tree has been disassembled at last :T Decs have been boxed up ready for the loft and the tree will go to the tip - I have persuaded the DDs that a small (very small!) real tree will be much prettier in our house next year :D

So the tree that is way too big for my little house will go to the tip along with some old and broken decs that, for some reason, keep getting boxed up year after year :o Old family heirloom decs will stay, obviously - I have lots from my childhood, some of which I made and are really quite sweet!

Rest of [STRIKE]downstairs[/STRIKE] house is still a dump but hey, the tree is gone and that's progress, right?!!!
Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

Curtain pole installed in the living room
    Paint curtain pole
Window quilts for landing window & french door
Add shrink film to the kitchen door & insulate
    Insulate front door
Bubble wrap windows & french door
    Wash front door curtain
    Blind for the bathroom
Find wrist warmers & the wool socks!
    Wash heated throws
    Wash duvet & wool blankets
Buy vest tops to go under clothes and PJs
Buy nets for bathroom and kitchen
Buy or make blind for kitchen
  • Wahey, brilliant news on the job MM. Yes its only temporary but its a job and who knows what it will lead to.

And well done Frugal for getting the tree down. I have a piece of holly on my mantelpiece. Is that not really bad luck or something? Maybe thats why our shed roof blew off.

How interesting that three of you live close together. Strange this old cyberworld isnt it?

Have had a nice day gently pottering inside while its cold and frosty out. Have made a cake and a pudding for after tea, done some washing and a bit of tidying. OH has brought in a bag of wood he had in the shed so thats provided free heat on the stove all day, which is great news because I cant really afford to buy any more coal until the end of the month!

Off to make a beef and veg pie for tea.
  • Quick update - 6x4 piece of space cleared and bed base in place - now unable to move in spare room - guess the tidying will have to continue :eek::eek:
