Well, on the day that DWP decided I wasn't eligible for any benefits, I got a job :) not entirely the one I was hoping for, it's the same role in a different branch, but only temping - covering maternity leave. Although you never can tell how maternity cover will work out, can you? But it gives me an extra four months to either find something else or do whatever, and babymaking is still on the cards :)

where's the happy dance smiley when you need it?
    found it

    SO PLEASED for you!

Well I don't want to annoy some of you, but this afternoon I sat down and wrote out a list of Spring cleaning jobs to be done over the next few weeks. We had the glass light shades down yesreday and washed all those and put them back up. I am just adding in extra jobs to do within my weekly indepth clean.

Not doing much on the way of washing apart from the nromal everyday washing as it's not drying too well on the line with this weather, but once the days start to lengthen out and get longer then I will make a point of washing extra things along the way.

Just keep saying to yourselves that Spring is on the way and looking to clean your home will make everything much brighter and lift you emotionally.

  • Messymare - many congratulations on getting the job, as you say you never know with maternity leave as I've known several people who start out intending to return and never do.

Came home from work and went straight out to do weekly shop. Came home had a meal sat down and fell asleep :eek: Did manage to wake up in time for sport relief bake off final (missed all the other episode due to -- yes you've guessed it .... falling asleep).

I think messies are just realists -
-if you dust the surface simply gets dusty again. Energy expended for no good reason.
-ironing - clothes get creased as you wear them get creased when you wash them, therefore normal state for clothes is creased not smooth
    - cobwebs as I've said before are ecological fly traps and environmentally sound. In the winter they are an indoor wildlife area
    - weeds in the garden are just wildlife areas

therefore no guilt is needed for having a messy house :):)

  • Helen Sorry to hear about your kitchen, you seemed very on top of it all though, glad its sorted. The GC girls will be very impressed you didn't get fish & chips. Bless your dog. He probably sees the new cage, but maybe doesn't realise its his old mate in there.
Emm Why are you cleaning up other peoples mess - your too nice. If i came in to my dd/ds (18yr twins) dishes, they would be woken and told to get it sorted (lightbulb moment about a year ago) they don't really do it much now. Mind you, was on hands n knees doing dd bedroom today, organising it for her, hoping she will study more if its nice
MM - well done, its not maybe what you wanted, but they obviously saw potential and many a permanent job comes from temping.
Rainy Days. Well done for your efforts, have to say i do feel a bit apologetic myself sometimes, when i have had a really productive day, i want to post did this and that as i feel proud of myself, but then i dont want people to go oh no, and feel worse, which is my reaction when i do naff.
Cat Hope you r well and u have fun on yr trip. ((Hugs to all who need))
  • Phew!

Just caught up. Was going to bed early but that didn't happen!

got distracted by hamana beads - didn't know what they were, so googled them got to Amazon..........about 16 books later I realised the time and thought oh I should go to bed...........then i came back here and read up to date.

Really because it is 1.30 I should go to bed but just a few thoughts are running round my head.

    1. I get migraines
    2. am frequently sad, depressed? was signed off in December for a short while. that was quite a shock.
    3. the mess got SO bad in December I didn't want to come home. It is better now but I can feel it slipping again.
    4. I don't have a floordrobe but I do have a chairdrobe, I always think my chair is too big for the room but really It is that it is full of clothes which add about a foot!
    5. I also have pets. lots. but not yet in a crazy cat lady way.
    6. I do feel better when things are tidy.
    7. I have this fantasy when I have LOADS of time and can start from scratch to have everything tidy.
    8. I really miss my ex. and keep pondering about timing.

    I love this thread.

    happy Saturday xxxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.

    Right here goes

House is the messiest it has EVER been!! I bought new kitchen sink taps as ours are leaking - they don't fit, not only is that a prob but to get the old taps off DH has had to remove the sink - worktop broken in the process - washing machine moved into the middle of the kitchen, 2 trips to B&Q and so on and so on!! There is water everywhere [took 90 mins for the dam stuff to stop running when the water was turned off] crap everywhere, dog is hiding upstairs, never knew that DH knew so many swear words, never have I been so diplomatic!! More knew taps bought now and other new ones will be fleabayed. DH is trying to put it all together now - fingers crossed everyone!!

OH went for a shower last night and found that the electrics connecting the shower (our only source of hot water other than the kettle or a pan on the hob) had pretty much entirely melted. Bypassed the switch with an wholly unsatisfactory bodge-job dodgy electrical connection which got round his shower last night and mine this morning. Thankfully he got to the builders merchants first thing and bought a suitable switch to solve the problem so I don't need to worry about burning in my bed tonight.

 Sounds good to me. The "random" we-like-you-enough-to-find-a-way-to-employ you jobs are usually the ones that lead to something as long term as you want them to be ;). Make the most of the next 4 months practising ready for the real baby-making efforts if that is what comes next in the MM life plan! In any way, glad the immediate future is looking rosy :D.

This house is still messy. I am supposed to have a house-husband who does the housework and he is supposed to maintain higher standards than me. And yet...

    one day ... :rotfl:

    No really...

    it will be...
    really...

Congratulations MM :j You never know what it may lead to! I started as a volunteer at my son's school - just one morning a week - which led to 10hrs a week paid, then full time and 17 years later I'm still there:D

it takes me an hour and a half to get home on the bus and by the time I get back, the last thing on my mind is the flat.It was only meant to be a temporary place and I can't seem to get motivated:o It's "surface tidy" but everything is shoved out of sight;)

Oh well, maybe if I can stop falling asleep on the bus I might not feel so fuzzy headed when I get back and actually start to DO something,:rotfl:
    Give without remembering,receive without forgetting.
  • Morning messies

Hope everyone has a good day today and hugs to all who need one

Well, having done nothing round the house for the last 2 days, and had a lie in till gone 9 this morning, I need to get off my bum and do something productive. Think I will shower and dress first and see if that wakes me up - why does having a lie-in leave me feeling groggy?

Aim for today (might make me actually do it if I put it on here)
    shower and dress
sort out the next load of washing and get it on
    Unload/reload DW
Tidy and wipe round the kitchen
Sort out the carp on the end of the settee which is currently being used as a dumping ground
Tidy the coffee table (also a dumping ground)

Then this afternoon chill out with DH, maybe go for a walk as it's absolutely beautiful in MK today (but very cold)

Best get some bacon out of the freezer first as we're on bacon butties for lunch - nomnomnom!

    see ya later
