Morning messies:)I have not posted for a few days, but I have lurked and you have given me motivation.Down stairs is tidy dusted and hoovered BUT drawers and cupoards are a bit full:eek: I will get them sorted next week. This week I had to go for a smear that was a year overdue ,I keep putting things off but since reading this thread I feel like making an effort and doing things I really should do.Today I am going to do something I have been dreading for a long time .I hate confrontation but something has to be said and done today, otherwise I am never going to overcome my depression.
Have a good day all of you and take care x

    Morning everyone

Can someone please tell me how we can be expected to do all the housework on a regular basis when we often work long hours outside the home?

My house has a thin layer of dust over it and is generally a mess. I am trying my best to keep up but sometimes it is just too much and lately I feel permanently exhausted:( I've got no more energy to do anything during the short time I am here before going to work each day. As for weekends.. It's a nightmare and I don't want to spend every spare hour charging round with the vacuum cleaner, duster in hand, it's just too much! As for managing to do a week's shopping for 3/4 people for less than £60, it just aint happening, call it at least £110 to be realistic! I love this place but there are some ideals in other threads that I simply can't live up to and just make me feel even more guilty than I already do. So for now I guess I'll have to stay dusty and skint.LOL

I love this thread, it makes me feel so much better to know that I am not the only one with a messy house!! Sorry to rant! Hope you all have a great day and weekend :)

I bought a snow shovel too. OK I think we need to take joint responsibility for the lack of winter. Could have done without spending the money on it too.
Helen - winter isn`t done yet! You could still get your wish. I must admit I HATE the snow and ice, but it`s a natural part of winter and I agree that it`s all a bit too grey & wishy-washy just now! Maybe my log & coal delivery today is making me brave enough to say it but - ok, let`s have a cold snap & get it over with!
Last year we had a flock of Brambling coming to the feeders in the garden, and they were so lovely to see - NO chance here this year, too mild.My lavender & Rosemary are still flowering, and the nettles haven`t died off. I suspect it`s my fault for buying a snow shovel in September & it`s still in the boot since I bought it!
Snow does reflect back a lot of daylight, doesn`t it?

Don't feel guilty about how much you spend, we all have different incomes, expectations, likes, needs, commitments. What is manageable and right for one group of people isn't for another. We went from being a high income family to being quite skint when DH was made redundant last year. I need to cut down further than we have, but it's hard to do it all at once.

  • SaveDosh - it`s maddening when you do a post and it just disappears into the ionosphere!
McFilly - I agree - we try to do a bit too much sometimes, we just have to prioritise & not beat ourselves up over the stuff that doesn`t get done.

I hoover once every couple of months, if that helps. I've decided that cobwebs are a vast advantage as it means you can leave the windows open in the summer and not worry about flies :rotfl:

  • Hello my name is ticklepenny and I am a messyholic :D

Quick intro (nicked from the other thread I started): I'm 28 have 2 little ones DD 2yrs old and DS almost 1yr old, I also have an OH who has had 3 strokes and now suffers with visual disturbances (He is so lucky considering what could have happened ). OH is very helpful but is on new meds so sleeps a lot and is only up between 1pm and 10 pm. I am in charge of the kiddies as OH is a bit nervous with them both and gets overwhelmed easily.

I have tried to read back a bit and have decided I fit in here. :D

Today I have cooked up some more veg to stretch out last nights oxtail stew so now there is enough to freeze for another day. Done the washing up from breakfast, wiped down the sides in the kitchen, cooked + supervised kiddies eating lunch (not started lunchtime dishes yet).

To do - washing and tumble drying, general decluttering, prep tea (forgot to get the chicken out) and the lunch time washing up.

((hugs to all in need)) :D x

  • Welcome, Ticklepenny. Sounds like you have your hands full at home. The great thing about the Messy thread is that most of us seem to realise that a degree of Messyness is actually quite normal!

    Messy status report.
Kitchen - not too bad at all. No dirty pots, tops moderately clear, floor looked worse than I thought but got away with just sweeping (some dropped veg bits made it look worse!)
LR - sofa clear, floor not too bad. A quick tidy later on will suffice.
    Bedroom - not going there!!!
Need to nip out & do shopping to cover next 3 days when I`ll be at work long hours, and cook a big lump of pork shoulder today for easy meals when I get home late next couple of nights. I SWEAR I`ll put all the shopping away tidily as soon as I get back!
WM ready to go on later when OH is up.after nightshift.

Pretty messy here. Got up at 4.30 as had 2 big orders to cater today as well as the usual van stuff. Haven't washed up yet and no time to do tidying or de-cluttering. Perhaps later.

    Right here goes

House is the messiest it has EVER been!! I bought new kitchen sink taps as ours are leaking - they don't fit, not only is that a prob but to get the old taps off DH has had to remove the sink - worktop broken in the process - washing machine moved into the middle of the kitchen, 2 trips to B&Q and so on and so on!! There is water everywhere [took 90 mins for the dam stuff to stop running when the water was turned off] crap everywhere, dog is hiding upstairs, never knew that DH knew so many swear words, never have I been so diplomatic!! More knew taps bought now and other new ones will be fleabayed. DH is trying to put it all together now - fingers crossed everyone!!

Dog is busy watching an empty Hamster cage [bought a super duper one in B&Q for £5 in their clearance sale]
swopped Hammy over but dog hasn't realised lol

DH wants a hand now so catch up later

    Helen x
