Hi everyone new and old. Well I cleaned the kitchen last night, did three loads of washing, changed our bed and tidied dd room while she was asleep. Place looking tidy today.
Helen I need to buy our hamster a new cage might have a nose in B&Q. Hope the sink is sorted soon.
Im going to see the psychiatrist Monday which is just as well as the depression is getting worse. Im sleeping more and having to push myself to do things. I feel sorry for those who are having to wait for appointments. My advice would be to go to A&E if the depression gets any worse.

Snookey - they had them on an end at the tills - £5, it has 2 floors, 2 feeding pots, ladders, wheel, water bottle and a little house with a chimney!! Reduced from £15. Sorry to hear about your depression, hugs and love

    Afternoon Messies!
I know this is a thread where we try to encourage each other to de-clutter and clean our houses (well, at least, I think that's the intention! ;)), but can I just say that, in the light of eternity, it's really not worth making yourself ill over - physically or mentally. I've a very small house, a husband who cooks but rarely puts things away, and animals that always negatively influence the cleanliness of the happy home. Admittedly, I'm no longer in paid work, BUT I've got to the age and stage in life when I realise that there are a great many things more important than having a sparkling house. Sure, keep it reasonably clean and tidy so that no one catches anything nasty or falls over anything, but your house should be your home, where you feel relaxed and comfortable, not where you feel stressed every time you look around you. Now, B-R-E-A-T-H-E!

Having said that, I've washed the kitchen and bathroom floors, fed the guinea pigs, put away craft materials, put away some bed linen that's finally been washed, and sorted out and done some more washing. Just need to print out a letter that's way overdue! So, thanks to longterm messies who have indirectly pushed me into doing some clearing up! :)
  • Sending you hugs Frugal. People sometimes forget that depression is an illness and you need the right sort of help to get over it. Keep posting on here, it sounds like there are others who know how you are feeling and thats worth a lot.

Helen, laughing at your dog watching the empty hamster cage. Kitchen situation doesnt sound so funny though.

Oh and McFilly I am currently not working and still struggle to keep on top of things at home. The housework seems to expand to fill the available time you have got and then keeps growing. I understand about not wanting to spend your weekends doing housework though, I hated that too.

I wonder how many people on here have got a beautiful home under the mess and clutter or if you are like me and have a home that needs some work. Part of my problem is that our house needs some serious money spending on it so its hard to get it looking good which makes it harder to get motivated.

    Anyway, today I have:
cleaned bathroom, washed shower curtain and hung it back up
    dusted bedrooms
cleaned kitchen worktops properly (ie moved things!)
done hubbys monthly bills and accounts
    done a load of washing

off to get tea ready now.

Well, on the day that DWP decided I wasn't eligible for any benefits, I got a job :) not entirely the one I was hoping for, it's the same role in a different branch, but only temping - covering maternity leave. Although you never can tell how maternity cover will work out, can you? But it gives me an extra four months to either find something else or do whatever, and babymaking is still on the cards :)

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; always try just one more time

MM - well done, thats great news

7 hours, yes 7 long bloody hours to change a flipping tap but its now done! DH has gone out to buy beer lol. I now have the task of doing tea for everyone and trying to get the kitchen back to normal!!

YL - dog is so funny staring at the empty cage when the full one is right next to it!

I'm knackered from having to be supportive and nice all day hehe

:T Well done, MM. It's a shame that it's only maternity cover, but my YD got her job via maternity leave. She made the job more efficient, expanded the job (she was bored with just what she was given to do!), and they decided they didn't want her to go. See what you can do! ;)

And, Frugal, I know how you feel. Nuff said.

    Well done MM :j

Helen sounds like you need the beer not DH, and if that had happened in our house we'd be having fish and chips from the chippy for tea. Hope you manage to get a bit of 'me' time this evening

Was out on and off all day yesterday so nothing done here and haven't done a right lot today (well, I did the food shopping). My plan for this afternoon was to sort out our finances and get the spreadsheets all updated for 2012, hmm, still looking at them. I think I need another coffee..

hugs to all who need one
