  • MM - sounds promising! Still keeping fingers crossed for you.
RL - sounds like my DGD`s room here. Can`t see the floor. She was here after school till 10 minutes ago, and we DID manage to clear some of the carp from the doorway area, so at least I can shut the door on it now - I couldn`t before!

I`m quite pleased with what I`ve got done today, mostly faffy jobs but they needed doing. Still haven`t found those shoes yet though.
Another kip on the sofa tonight, and last day off tomorrow so I might make more progress.
Also, have now got the use of the `thanks` button back & can read thanks. Dratted PC!

Hello - is this the place for people scared of the flylady thread? My Christmas tree has been taken down and taken away but all my cards are still up and most of the clothes that I've washed over the last three weeks are in a pile on my bedroom floor. I struggle to see any problem with this :rotfl:. Am I among friends?

    Great first post here :D

    Welcome :hello:

:rotfl:I am so glad someone else still has xmas stuff up, even if it is just cards... I didn't put my cards up this year - no surfaces to put them on as mantlepiece is missing since open fire was built and window sills have plants etc on them. A few special cards were hung on the mirror above the fire (mirror above the fire??? BAD move... You wouldn't believe how dirty it gets in a week  ) but apart from those few, the rest got stacked. I didn't send any either.

On a serious note... Does anybody else think that their messiness is at least partly due to low self esteem/depression maybe? I haven't suffered with my usual depression this winter. In fact i've been quite bright despite the last 6 months, but the house has gone from bad, to worse, to downright bl00dy awful :(

Crazy thing is, I don't remember noticing it 'getting' bad... But now I can see how bad it is IYSWIM...
Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!

I was doing so well.. until my parents returned from their 6 week holiday and "unpacked"....

They have instructions to at least *hide* the mess by the time i get home from work tomorrow. Irony for the win as mother commented how tidy the place was looking as soon as she walked through the door lol.

Oh and some advice? while they were away I paid some bills for them (2 x road tax for each of their cars - I don't drive, and a £300 dual fuel bill as they get billed quarterly) They owe me near enough a grand. I pay them "rent" to cover my share of bills and food - they don't have a mortgage. I figured that I wouldn't pay them rent and just knock it off what they owe me when they get round to paying it - , probably the end of next month, not like I'm asking for it tomorrow! Because that would ease my finances, given I've had to shell out money I hadn't budgeted for if that makes sense, and it would help with my cashflow. Apparently not - mum wants me to pay rent and then will give me the full amount for the bills at the end of next month. Huh?

does that make sense to anyone else or am I being thick?

I am sure that low esteem/depression has a major impact on house stuff and despite how you are feeling you have had it tough recently frugal so be kind to yourself

MM - sounds good - fingers still crossed for you

    Cat - how are you

Everyone else - waving hello to you all

I have removed the floordrobe from our bedroom, put away the piles of clothes, towels etc that were in there and also out away the "2012 xmas pressies" already bought - can't wait for the Boots 75% sale

MM, sounds really good, well done, let us all know as soon as you hear wont you?

Welcome Bupster, clear the gubbins off a chair and sit in our little circle saying my name is Bupster and I am a messyholic. You are with friends.

Have had one of those days when I have moved things around but not really achieved much. Made DS do some maths and english so thats good. Noticed he is drinking loads at the moment. Not sure if its something to do with his meds or whats going on. Then again I could be imagining it!

Some more stuff listed on ebay, hoping it all sells.

Frugal, I think there is something about winter that makes it harder to get motivated. I always think I should get more done in the house in winter but it never works that way. Its been very grey and gloomy here lately, I need some sunshine!

and................. the summer gives the perfect excuse to say "Its a shame to waste the nice weather so I will get out and do garden things... The house can wait until the bad weather"

Hugs Frugal, January is a tough month as it is so try not to be too tough on yourself. Happy healthy well loved children and mummies are more important than a show home.

MM sounds as if you did the very best you could today, fingers crossed you get the job.

    Bupster hello and welcome :D

Well I am shattered again today (in a happy relaxed way) so I have done the bare minimum around the house this week. Surveying the damage has made me realise it is not really that bad and an hours super tidy tomorrow will get it back into line.

  • I am certain that there must be a 'domesticated' gene that we messies simply do not posess. Perhaps it has been replaced by the 'blinkered and unable to see mess' gene or possibly 'cba to do housework' one.

Have now managed to transfer the stray to my indoor rabbit cage where s/he has more room (no I haven't got close enough to determine which).

Does deleting old e-mails from my inbox count as tidying :D this is about the only tidying I manage during the week.

MM keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Can't believe it - have restricted myself to one bar of chocolate a week, now just finished an online survey for chocolate bars . Just glad we don't have any shops locally.
