My home is a mess

Absolutely shattered (and no not from domestic tasks).
Took OH to GP this morning for 8.30 appointment dropped him off at home then to work. Full days work, then drove to my GP for appt. then drove to local Argos to pick up kettle /toaster (toaster broke weeks ago and we've been using the cooker grill to toast, then last night kettle stopped working so was forced into purchasing new items as family refuse to boil water in saucepan)
Got home and OH told me that the stray kitten that's been living in the utility room was definitely there and showed me the wounds to prove it. Apparently he moved a cupboard and it attacked him. Anyway DD and I managed to get it into cat basket while we decide what to do next. It appears to be a feral, probably about 5-6 months old, so may have come from one of the local farms.:eek: It is very sweet, so will see if it settles down, and advertise in parish magazine just in case it does belong to anyone local.
Wasn't in the market for any more pets! already have 2 dogs, 6 cats, 9 snakes plus tropical fish and 3 chickenshey ho, must have a sign up 'waifs and strays this way' - yet another reason why my house won't be super tidy any time soon (not just because I must be a founder member of the CBA club).
Messymare - very best of luck with the interview.0 -
Emm is there anything better than sleeping on the sofa? It is anti social,so I rarely get to do it anymore but put a rolling news channel on,and close your eyes! Heavenly! I shall encourage hubby to work a night shift so I can sleep on the sofa too!0

Soupdragon - know what you mean about `waifs & strays this way`... years ago we had a feral cat in the shed - the fosterlings were feeding her generously for a few weeks before they declared her presence just before Xmas - `mum is a softie` season - (and I was saying we must get our cats wormed asap because they were getting through more catfood than usual). We decided to take her on, took her to the vet for her shots - vet also advised us not to spay JUST yet awhile, let her settle in a bit first, as `cats don`t get pregnant this time of year` - WRONG!! (actually it was the only time our lovely vet was wrong about anything in almost 30 years!) So we ended up with our 2 original moggies, the feral, plus her 3 kittens. We did have her spayed. As the kittens grew more independent, we found great homes for 2 of them, and kept just one - but his mother hated him, and spent less & less time indoors, became a `part-timer` in household numbers then cleared off altogether. We always wondered about her - hope she had a good life, wherever she spent it, but at least we knew there were no more kittens.
As for other strays - I swear if there was a stray elephant in the district my eldest would`ve found it & fetched it home!!!0 -
Susan - WHY is it anti-social to kip on the sofa? (Unless it`s because of a falling out, or you want a lie-in there when others are up and about) It saves being disturbed or disturbing folks upstairs, if some have lie-ins & others don`t, and it`s easier to get up in the morning, you`re halfway there! It does have a sense of Luxury about it, too, which compensates for the early bit. I`ll put radio 4 or 4extra on and get to dozing in a bit.
Messy status report - one disgusting ancient lamb-fatty roasting tin reclaimed, kitchen doesn`t look too bad at all. Just chicken carcass now simmering for stock, everything else washed up/put away. I`m going to have small remains of last night`s chicken curry in a wrap, plus a wrap with a scrambled egg and some bits of cola ham. (I`m the only one here who likes wraps, so carpe diem, innit!!? Then I`m going to finish off the rum-cake (Lidl or Aldi, pre-Xmas, I forget which. Nobody else liked it.) With a freckly banana, a fresh clementine, and a spot of Elmlea. Going to take one of my RARELY needed anti-inflammatoty meds - prescribed when my thumbs were at their worst - as hip still hurty, and can`t take it on an empty tum - well, it should sit happily on that lot, shouldn`t it?0 -

Right, interview is at 1pm today, it's a company I know fairly well selling a product I'm passionate about so at least I know I can do the job. I'm really praying I get it, money is running out fast and no sign of JSA
Have a lovely day everyone, I'm fighting the urge to go get ready now because I know I'll end up covered in dog hair if I'm ready too early
Our greatest weakness lies in giving up; always try just one more time0 -

I'm stressed
I cannot find my box of tax stuff and I need to do my tax return
I know I can get it sent to me but I really wanted to do it today as its keeping me awake at night
The only place I can think of now is in the loft BUT I can't go up there, its scares me more than the tax returnI've tried calling a friend to go up there for me but she isn't in... and DS works nights so daren't call him in case he is sleeping.
I don't even know if it is up there... It would be a stupid place for me to have put it as I know I can't get it down myself... But I can't see it anywhere else and just can't remember what on earth I did with it
That will teach me to be a Messy... No way am I ending this year the way its started - I AM going to sort my house out.Putting these winter preps here so I don't forget!
